The sounds of the Kazakh Steppe in one instrument, horses, camels, wolves, cranes flying overhead its just gorgeous. Then Dimash, so invested in what he is singing, he makes you feel every bit of the hardships he as the young soldier is suffering. He will never see his elderly parents again because of the starvation in 1916. Such a powerful song, it shows the hardships that Kazakhstan went through, then and in the past then again during the Soviet years. Dimash embodies the character fully, he is the soldier and like him he was also born in the year of the dog and at 27 he was close to the 28 years of age for the real soldier. I love this song, and I think its very close to Dimash's heart as he parents, his elder Mama and Papa must have been on his mind here 🌟

You are so right about this song. It's always been my favorite too because it is so powerful and so sincere, all while remaining totally beautiful musically. And you are also right that the Tokyo Jazz Fest studio version is the best of all. It still mesmerizes me every time I hear and see it.

I also love this song. Someone said that Dimash once said that singing this song was very difficult for him on an emotional level because of what it represents. 99% of Dimash's song lyrics have content, tell a past story, or carry a deep message. This is one more reason why I like listening to Dimash's music so much. On the one hand, tornado is events that disturb the peace, destroy unity, and uproot the identity of the Kazakh people that time. But on the other hand, it is a state of mind of a young soldier who does not understand where his path lies, the path to his native land, the path to a warm home. How can he find his way to his native source among chaos, destruction and oppression ?!

Good evening Filipe, This song is sublime: it is a powerful lament that is both instrumental and vocal. The introduction with the kobyz sounds like the cry of a wounded beast and Dimash's interpretation carries all the pain of a soldier sent far from his homeland for a reason beyond him. The tornado video effect around Dimash during his vocalization illustrates, I think, the soldier lost in the dark whirlwind of war.I agree with you: this is Dimash's most moving song, both for its historical and human significance. I don't understand one thing: Dimash is known all over the world (China, Japan, North and South America, ...) and he only has 1.6 million subscribers on his official site! What a great gift he gave us during the pandemic when we were all locked up in the house and many of us alone. Only he did. A whole virtual concert. And now, for those who couldn't see him in January, he posts one video after another to give us even more emotions. Great show, great everything. From the musical arrangements, to the visual effects, to him, the extraordinary way he has of being on stage, to his ability to communicate and make emotions felt even if you don't mean a word because it's a foreign language.
