Let me give you some info on this incredible trio and event: • Igor is there as an overall lead because the event is built for him: this is his birthday event that he organized with all his favorite artists, the ones that he is used to collaborate with and the songs he has composed • This is not the first time that Lara sings this song (composed by Igor) in trio but the third time: she performed in the original version with Dmitri Hvorostovsky and Alina Yaroyava then again later with Dmitriy and Sumi Jo, before this new trio with Dimash and Aida. The song was composed from day one with her voice in mind. She has been collaborating with Igor for more than 10 years and he has told from her that she is “the best singer and the best songwriter he has ever worked with” • This also explains why the song does not exposes more of Dimash’s upper register: it was written for the late Dmitri who was a pure baryton. • Lara was very very sick that day, with fever and strong medication but she is skilled enough to have made it unnoticeable • Also, like Dimash, and even if the song was composed that way with her in mind, Lara does not sing in her real « comfort zone »: she is, as Aida, a lyrical soprano but here she plays the role in the trio of a mezzo-soprano and takes the median register. It requires a lot of voice control to not interfere with Aida’s high note and does not allow her to really shine. She gives room to Aida to do it instead and Aida uses this magnificently. • It was the first time Dimash met his idol Lara: look how quickly he turned to her, despite he has not finished his duo section with Aida 😂 And how he looks at her and hold her after it … • Lara is the most comfortable in italian because it is her first native language even before french: her mother is italian and while born in Belgium she spent her first 5 years in sicilia before returning there. She also is married to a sicilian man • Look how dimash slightly adapted his vibrato to better match Aida or Lara • Also there is a debate about the final note, held for such a long time, with the conductor looking at Igor and Igor smiling: Did they make a prank to the singers by extending this last note? Or did the singers instead played with them? I personnally think this is more option 1 😀 • I forgot to add that Lara has been classically trained for more than 10 years at Brussels Royal Conservatory and still continues to receive voice lessons at least on a weekly basis. And she has sung many times opera pieces or with opera singers.

Anna thank you once again for reacting to this trio of world class singers. Dimash had a look of awe on his face to be finally singing with Lara, his inspiration. Eric has already told you that Lara was unwell, and not altogether steady on her feet, so he offers her his arm to steady her. Lara calls Dimash "Space boy" and there is a backstage video, where he tells Lara that it was his dream from childhood to sing with her. Yes Dimash is a huge Lara fan since he is a child. Lara, thru her long collaboration with Igor (he composes and she writes lyrics in different languages and then she sings ), is absolutely massive in Russia. He covered the following songs from her: Adagio, Know, Mademoiselle Hyde, Love of Tired Swans. He also sang Love is like a dream, a song she covered before him (original from Alla Pugacheva) And she wrote the song Your Love for him They connected with his cover of Adagio and they continue to exchange frequently. They keep for instance exchanging videos for their respective birthdays

Clearly Igor was 'in heaven'! Aida is a magnificent Soprano, just such a gorgeous timbre and so skillful. Your comment about the matching vibrato was interesting. Natural vibrato/ Intentional vibrato? I gather Lara was unwell and at the time they were unsure if she could participate, so how much adjustment was made in last rehearsals to accommodate this we don't know, but knowing this makes her performance even more admirable. { Yes - I was wondering about the impact of the cold air in the arena and the impact particularly on hers - but on all three voices. } Dimash certainly a 'fan boy' and thrilled to be performing finally with his long held Idol. I understand this rapidly evolved into a 'mutual admiration club' and they continue as fast friends. Aida apparently joked in rehearsal, that if both she and Lara lost their voices it would be OK as Dimash could sing all parts. { True - but not concurrently! } 😄 A beautiful performance by all - including the orchestra and those wonderful skaters.

DIMASH when younger was in awe of Lara but at the time of this performance together Lara is as much in awe of Dimash as he is of her. Lara had nothing but praise for DIMASH when she heard him do ADAGIO.

If you have time for another Dimash review in the near future, I highly, highly recommend "The Story of One Sky". It is the culmination of a 3 year development and production of a movie/video he financed himself. Reportedly the most expensive ever made at over $7M. He composed, wrote the storyboard, helped direct, and does 100% of the vocals. It is intense, powerful, thought provoking, and definitely timely.

I love the chemistry particularly between Dimash and Lara, but Aida is very lovely too. I have heard that she was not well the day of the performance. Igor often smiles when he accompanies Lara.

Anna, what a wonderful video! It was sensational and you were equally enjoyable to listen to. Couple of things: This get together was to celebrate Igor's birthday and no wonder he was smiling a lot! Also, Lara was recently ill and almost couldn't make the performance but she gutted it out. So, although your remarks were genuine perhaps you can now understand why it seemed that Lara was not what you might have expected. Their harmony was literally thrilling and let us congratulate Dimash for "containing" himself and singing beautifully with both women. I've seen this over 100 times and I still get chills watching it.

Back in 2018, in the comments to Dimash's performance, they wrote about a possible duet of Dimash and Lara. I won't be able to understand a person if he says he doesn't love Lara. Dimash is a real professional, at work he will not let emotions interfere with the performance.

Another great and thoughtful reaction! Igor was smiling because he knows no other piano player will beat performing together with these three fabulous artists. This is one of my favorite Dimash performances. One Sky takes musical story telling to a level never seen before. It will become iconic to the musical world just as Edvard Munch's "The Scream" is iconic in the art world. You thought you knew Dimash but then he released One Sky.

Aida Garifullina is the soprano first soloist of the Vienna Opera, she has won several interpretation competitions in various countries, she has a little girl that she takes care of a lot and is currently classified among the top 5 sopranos in the world active on the world's lyrical stages. One comment: in many other songs, you will see that Lara use the same mic technique and can sing to 8,000 venues without mic. The fact is she has been classically trained since she was 8 and keep receiving daily lessons on a daily basis. She said in an interview that the only reason she moved to pop was because she is also and foremost a songwriter. Opera does not give you the possibility to write new songs. Otherwise she would have been an operatic soorano.

As you already know, Igor Krutoy is the man at the piano who frequently accompanies Dimash. He is a famous Ukrainian and Russian music composer, performer, producer, and musical promoter, who has composed music for and performed with renowned singers in classical and contemporary music, such as Anna Netrebko, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Aida Garifullina, Andrea Bocelli, Lara Fabian, Alla Pugacheva, Irina Allegrova, and others. You are already familiar with Lara Fabian. Aida Garifullina is a Russian lyric soprano of Tatar origin and in 2013 started performing at the Mariinsky Theatre, St. Petersburg. That same year, she took first place in Plácido Domingo’s world-renowned, prestigious International Opera Singers Competition "Operalia" in Verona. That led to an offer to join the Vienna State Opera, as well as to a contract with well-known British record label, Decca Classics. Really enjoyed your reaction and the comments: No one has yet explained the vocals so well. And seeing that you enjoyed it, too, is even better. Aida is one of the major opera sopranos of our time, singing at the Vienna opera house. There is a dramatic duet with her and Dimash from the same concert, Ulisse, also worth checking out. For a brief second, she can really show what her voice can do, and I get goosebumps every time. When you asked how Dimash could keep himself together in front of his idol, I had to think of a small clip that was taken before this concert when Lara arrived, greeted Dimash, and he is visibly awkward in her presence, so cute!

Anna...Your calm analytical commentary with just a nice shading of your honest emotional appreciation for their artistry was very enjoyable for me. I have seen reactions to this performance that are both ends of the spectrum of "fanboy/fangirl" emotional reaction to reactions that are non-emotional, rather dry/cold analytics. Lara came to this event with a continued illness. She was off tour for a few weeks with inner ear illness and imbalance. She came to be there for Igor. Her voice may have reflected some of her sickness.

After the performances…he had 5… backstage with her he was definitely fan boying ! Lol. Poor Lara…she was I’ll. Sure couldn’t tell it!
