Zhang Yimou, one of the most prominent directors of Chinese cinema, winner of the Berlin Golden Bear and the Venice Golden Lion, chaired the jury of the inaugural Golden Panda Awards. The event organized by the Chinese Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Sichuan Provincial Government will be held every two years. 7,025 works from all over the world participated in the awards, taking giant pandas as a cultural symbol, through live images, spreading the idea of building a community with a shared future for humanity. The first edition of the Golden Panda Awards consisted of competitive awards in 4 categories: films, television series, documentaries and animation. The three main events were the Night of the Golden Panda, the Golden Panda Forum of International Cultural Exchange and the Golden Panda Festival.
Golden Panda Awards is a new Chinese institution (like the US Oscars) honouring directors etc of films, documentaries, and TV shows. This song was written by composer/pianist Nathan Wang (himself an Oscar judge) and I think is also for Jackie Chan's latest movie, hence his presence. (He and Dimash have become good friends and he clearly adores him.) This is partly why Dimash has been spending time in LA lately.
