Zhou has shown something he seldom displayed: aggression, determination, confidence and resilience in this whole tournament. Among Chinese elite players, he is a huge underachiever who has all the tools to be the top dog except mental toughness and determination. Though a little late, hope he can have another chance to crack the top circle.

This camera angle is so much better than the one in big WTT events

Watched it live at the Teslim Balogun stadium yesterday. This was the first ever professional table tennis match I've ever watched and to top it all I saw Dimitrij Ovtcharov perform! It was a crazy experience and the images of the matches still keep running through my head today. Professional TT is on another level! I never imagined the speed would be this crazy seeing it up close. It was a great experience for me and I'd love to watch the next WTT Contender Lagos edition

I dont think ovtcharov played hes best game. Chinese are really just so consistent. They bring new talent to the game all the time, there so dominating. The shot at 8:23 is crazy!

Lets gooooo finally Zhou Qihao back in form! Then he beat Ma Long and Felix Lebrun in Ljubljana a month later in July 2023. Glad to see he's hungry and agressive for wins.

Zhou was quicker, more agressive and made less unforced errors.

Zhou has what it takes to be a top player when he beat both Ma Long and subsequently Fan ZD to win the 2020 China Championship. He underachieved because of his late of consistency and mental strength. One of his "weaknesses" is, if you are good, he can be better. But when you are bad, he can be worse. If this final was against a "smaller name" player, Zhou may not win.

Sad to see Ovtcharov so very far away from his prime days. Barely winning 1 set against Nr.9 ranked player in China. I remember days when Ovtcharov could compete against China's top 3 players.

We do like aggresive playing style,..taking risk, earning reward. Quick flip and boom. short on-the-table exchange and boom. Very entertaining.

Zhou from the backhand side was too fast, too solid for Ovtcharov. Ovtcharov failed to move Zhou around. His step aside to use the forehand from the backhand side was lightning fast too.

I like zhou game but he is unfortunately unstable player at lest in the last 2 years.

Nah, this was not really Zhou's win it was Ovtcharov's loss. Lost the first game, couldn't get into it at all in the second and third. Back against the wall clutched his way into the fourth, but it's still too late even with great fighting spirit and resilience. Frustration bar is already full at that point and Zhou is no pushover, don't get me wrong, his angles, power and feeling are top notch. It just feels like Ovtcharov blew it in the first game (same as Franziska who did a better job) and you just cannot do that against the Chinese - you only ever get 1 chance and they know it... Anyway, congratz to Zhou which is on the rise now. Well done, well deserved, solid mentality. Let's see how he fares when his other Chinese teammates enter the tournament as well (Marvelous 12 from 2020 gives hope)
