@@diegosotomiranda4107he was one of the top contenders in 2014 (SF tight loss to Djokovic) and 2017 (r4 loss to Federer). Over the last years 2019-22 he’s been either injured or in bad form in this part of the season. Apart from the slice he’s always had, his serve and forehand are probably better than ever. He’s hardly come to the grass season as top 10-12 player EVER and that already means his playing some of the best tennis in his career. Long story short, his previous results are not as much because he can’t play on grass but due to generally poor form in the middle of the year (and injuries in 2019, 2021 and 2022).

Grass on the first couple of days is like this always. Even Wimbledon centre court. Queens is notorious for being slippery in the first rounds. Just record Raonic shots and shown them to kids taking tennis lessons. All the basics done right with clear precision and elegance.

So everyone is slipping, and now Foe hurt himself? Nice job Queens...

Grass - what a crappy surface to play tennis. At the start of the tournament, you are slipping and potentially injuring yourself. At the end of the tournament, you are playing on sand. No consistency.

@@-jfo-i mean Clay has a Lot of bs too, Bad bounces, can get slippery and dangerous too (plenty of players get injured by the Surface when it's not on top conditions) totally different feel on day vs night, it gets dusty and thats annoying as hell specially if you have allergies, etc. If You want perfect conditions always then only hardcourts with closed roofs can provide that

@diegosotomiranda4107 clay is not slippery if it's bagged and watered. You don't get dust if it is watered. It is meant for sliding which completely different from accidentally slipping on grass. Nobody slides on grass intentionally because you can't get the grip to stop the way you do on clay. Having played on both, i know what it feels like. Grass is rubbish and people get all sentimental about it because of Wimbledon. If grass were that great, why aren't clubs investing in them vs hardcourts and clay courts?

Whenever a rare Raonic sitting occurs, I think about what an amazing career he could've had if not for all the injuries.

So Raonic just set a world record for aces in a 3 set match and they do not even mention it....wtf.

If Dimitrov can maintain this level (big IF!) he has to be an outside contender for the Wimbledon title. He's always had the game; now he has the maturity to go with it.
