Hi, I'm Italian and I'm having a lot of fun watching your videos, especially the one about trains where I finally understood how our trains work ;-) I wanted to tell you that true Mediterranean Italian cuisine can only be found in homes in the south, where they still prepare many simple dishes based on legumes and vegetables, chickpeas, beans, lentils, broad beans, all combined with many types of pasta. Good trip

Well... let's be honest guys: Valeria was a real pro, we rarely are that sofisticated in our homes! We usually serve a bowl of pasta and some kilos of meat or fish! 😂 It all looks great though, kudos to her!

Grazie. Particolarmente alla cuoca. La sua cucina è molto piccola - come un appartamento a Manhattan, non più grande di un bagno in America. Ha preparato 4 piatti per noi due e ci ha detto che ha cucinato per 20 nella stessa cucina! É stata un’esperienza indimenticabile. Da provare per turisti a Firenze.

Direi che questa è una cena di un italiano quando ha degli ospiti. Sicuramente quando noi invitiamo delle persone, facciamo un menù classico italiano, che prevede un antipasto, un primo ( che non per sempre è pasta), un secondo, un contorno e il dolce. In questo ordine. Normalmente, tutti i giorni, mangiamo molto meno. Vorrei ricordare che mangiamo molte verdure, solitamente non bollite e basta, ma cucinate. Abbiamo tantissime ricette di verdure.

Si, ci credo. Scommetto che nessuno senza un cuoco privato mangi quattro piatti ogni giorno! La pancia non lo sostiene, tanto meno che il lavoro si esaurirebbe. Noi, a casa, mangiamo un piatto di carne o pesce con una verdura al forno. Forse una insalata. Per gli ospiti, aggiungo patate o riso e un dolce semplice, come gelato con le fragole e cominciamo con un antipasto. Un esempio sarebbe di una scelta di formaggio, olive, e verdure crude con un sugo, forse di formaggio blu o hummus. E, certamente il vino!

We’d love to meet. We have vague plan for a Cortina and Bolzano trip next year, so we may be up that direction. We occasionally fly out of Malpensa if we’re already in the northwest. From our house Rome is a couple of hours closer. We prefer Ancona, since it’s nearby, but it’s hard to get there from the US. Two connections, at least, for us.
