Nomadic Pastoralists: The majority of Dinka continue to lead a nomadic lifestyle. For approximately four months during the dry season, they take their cattle to graze in the swamplands of the River Nile. During this time, they live alongside their animals, herding them during the day and sleeping beside them at night 2.
Courtship and Partnerships: The cattle camps serve as more than just grazing grounds. They also provide ample opportunities for courtship and finding permanent life partners. Relationships often form within these communal spaces, where young men and women interact while caring for the cattle 1.
