DINKUM Beginners Guide - Must Watch For New Players 

It might be worth mentioning that your time in game doesn't start ticking over until after you have placed your own tent and returned to speak to Fletch. Armed with this knowledge I spend time scoping out the best place for my town, place Fletch's tent and then my own, then travel all over the island gathering logs, fruit and anything else I can pick up without needing tools. You can use the luggage in the base tent to store things in until you can make your own storage chests. Oh and I always make sure I leave a couple of lime trees close to home because the first quest you get is to gather 3 limes. I also leave some logs lying on the ground around the home base because an early quest is to gather them. I find that by doing all of this before time officially starts, I have enough permit points to purchase logging, mining and shovel licenses as soon as John comes to town. Also bugs and fish can be placed in containers on the ground for easy storage until you can sell them to John. Just put each one in your hot bar and left click to place on the ground. So the second day when John arrives I sell everything except for the fruit, buy the tools I need and make my first orchard.

If you use the forever 10 AM time to gather fruits and stuff, be sure to leave some behind and mark the spot on the map. When you're asked to collect stuff to obtain permit points but the whole map is empty (it's really possible to do it), it's a real bummer. For example, the red Bottle Brush flowers are very rare and they take quite a long time to regrow.

20+ hours in and Irwin still hasn't visited. These chooks are so cute....Maybe I need to make the bird coop first? At the time when I unlocked the handling license, I wasn't sure how to get these spinifex tufts. They are the spiky dry grass things you can spear or use a scythe on to gather it. You can also gather tons of grass seeds doing this on other types of grass. Thought it might be good to leave this on a beginners video, as I've recently started gathering tons of grass seeds for terraforming projects.

Im so thankful that running out of stamina doesnt make you pass out upon depletion any longer! My island started me on a beach and i ended up building from there, but I see that I should have built in the center of the island. Ill probably move it at a later date

Could someone please, please explain to me how to use the camera. I can take the picture finally , it shows up (usually) in my journal but I don’t know A) how to show the photo to the person requesting it or. B) add it to the museum wall. I have googled the ever loving poop out of this and everyone just seems to address how to take the picture. I know I’m being and idiot here and it can’t be as hard as I’m making it!! Thanks 😊

I've noticed none of the videos on Dinkum (yours or other creators) include controller commands. Everything is keyboard and mouse. ☹

You were given your objective at the start of the game BEFORE what you call the games 'tutorial'... BEFORE you even make it to the island.... The game presented the objective in a manner such that it appeared as you answering a Job request in a news paper. You answer the job request in thus are taken to the island.

Bought farming license but can't farm anything...what's a gal gotta do to get a hoe????

0/10 For placing grown items so close together they clip into each other when fully grown. Even two is problematic, only 3 tiles between planting spot gives you the full orchard experience.

Hey I'm just starting out, I have mined all the tin in a large radius around my tents and I read that it is meant to replenish at some point, but it's been about 14 days and still nothing new anywhere near my place. I search all over and no new minerals at all pop up. How do I get sustainable metals or get them to replenish?
