@@RinkyDink-ms9wr Thank you for the support! I haven’t played Dinkum in a long time, I bet it’s changed a lot! Having a newborn has made it difficult for me to record/upload any videos lately but I hope to get back to it soon. Thanks again!
@@FetchQuestsYT congrats on the baby!! Just know, I appreciated your detailed instructions. I'm brand new to ALL gaming, so you were very helpful! Thank you. Is there any current game you are posting? Also, who was your chaos friend who joined you one day? Hilarious!
I came here to say this as well. 🤘🏻 Definitely worth planting corn (it grows thru autumn & winter) keep some set aside so u never really have to buy animal feed again. 😉
I am a Dinkum noob & have been watching a lot of videos & this is the first time I've seen someone have an NPC hang out with em. I can't believe they actually help you! Love it!
This tip is a bit more advanced but I'm sure you'll find it quite handy! Pay attention to sleep times of the mobs in the game. Bush Devils sleep in the day and Wary Mu sleep at night... Why?? But that you'll be wanting to hunt and trap these for big rewards. What I do is make a stack of fences and take them with me. While they are sleeping I build a pen around the base of their outcrop of rocks. Once the pen is made I can run across the top of their little plateau and pull them with me down into the pen where they'll follow me and get trapped in the pen. This is great for when I want to steal all the Wary Mu eggs! And also for when I want to trap the Wary Mu / Bush Devils one at a time! With a spear I can attack them through the fences and weaken them enough to be captured. The tricky part is only tricky if you have more than one in the pen at the same time. Because what you'd do is jump in there when they're really weak and set the trap right on top of them... When they're really weak they run away from you instead of attacking you. But once the pen is created you'll be able to use it again and again as the mobs will eventually respawn. This plan works particularily well when you build an animal drop-off point right next to the pen! You can make lots of drop-off points and place them in all your favorite hunting areas. The extra dop-off points will save you tons of time, energy, and aggrevation by making the trapping bit of the process as quick and clean as possible. Some mobs you'll even be able to trap without weakening them first and deliver them to the drop-off point before they break free of the trap if you've placed the drop-off point close enough. When all you have to do is trap them and drop them off within a matter of seconds you'll want that drop-off point right next to where you set the trap! This method is the quickest and possibly the most dangerous way to trap animals because you don't even bother with fighting them. [And therefore you use no stamena.]You just open a trap right on top of them BEFORE they can attack you. Then you have about 7 seconds give or take to get them into the drop-off point. If you make it on time... the trapped mob won't break free and you'll get your pay day in the morning mail. If you fail to get them to the drop-off point before they break free then they will come back with full hp and you may have a fight on your hands... With just 10 simple traps I routinely make 80K dinks a night. By placing the drop-off points next to the trapping area I spend way more time trapping and less time travelling so, I know that I will be making a lot more than just 80K when they're all set up! Time to double the amount of traps that I'll be using. The mail box won't let us lose anything... if our inventory is full it will keep stuff until we make room. So, I can pick up my first 10 traps from the mail in the morning and put them away then pick up the last 10 from the mail. Because they'll return our traps to us and that can be a lot of traps!! More than we have space for in our inventory... But the mail box will let us go empty our pockets and come back! Trapping is so much fun that we have to think of ways to handle many many more traps each night. I go through lots but I intend to go through much more!
After u have filled ur wheelbarrow u can damage it with any weapon and pick it up doing so will empty the wheelbarrow and u can place it back on the ground again much quicker.
I've spent several RL hours in late mode. You can process ore, wood, meat, fruit etc and craft items as they don't use energry. You can also run around gathering fruit, wattle etc, you'll only use energy to swim between islands.
Tip digging: - You can keep digging in the same spot creating a man hole, for example in the water. I did this under the dock so the hole was less visible (same principle as stacking infinitely tiles on each other). - You can carry multiple shovels. Put them on your toolbar and toggle through each shovel when digging so you can keep walking back and forth to a minimum. Combining both of these tips with a wheelbarrow saves you a lot of time. I mostly do this late at night when there's no timer and eat raw lime's to prevent myself from dying due to over-exhaustion.
@@FetchQuestsYT Beside that, you talked about not passing out, you will only pass out if you use all of your energy, even when it says late. Make cooked bananas, they give most energy back, or a cooked bush lime, dont eat them raw, cooked they give more energy. And after it says late you can actually go around and about for a loooooong time, I have had times where it was even up to two hours under the "late" coz I didnt want to finish the day and I was doing something. So it can be used, even watering your plants can be done after midnight, coz you just water and eat a cooked banana or bush lime and keep watering and repeat all till you are done :) If you are tired of the watering, upgrade one or two watering cans to cobber, it will still water 20 times, But, it waters 3 plots at a time (Im sure iron will go to 5 plots most likely) but I have two cans and they water a good amount of plots. So thats very handy. Remember that the eggs are used in recipes as well, most likely gives you a better dish at that time :) And when you plant corn, plant A lot, I planted a good amount, but I might run out before next time they can be planted, coz I have used them so much for the dagwood dog, a great meal for stamina and some health. Be aware that and apple gives 5 health, but a cooked apple gives 10 health :) Hope this could help a bit :)
Eventually there are some books available from the museum for bugs and fish, they even highlight the bugs that are out & about & show how much they sell for as well.
You can use the wheelbarrow to fullfill the daily task you can randomly get to ride a certain amount of distance on a motorcycle/vehicle (not sure which of the two it says exactly from the top of my head). Handy tip for when you don't have any vehicles yet, but you do have a wheelbarrow.
Those big *jiggle* rocks even drop iron ore if you are lucky. You can *cheese* the crocks and devils if you stand on a tall rock, they cant reach you and you can just poke poke them with your spear till they are ded.
When starting a game, before placing the base tent, you can rack up the foraging and mileage points, because time doesn't go passed 10AM. Level 2 metal detecting only shows a small portion of the treasure.
Definitely pro tips right here, thank you! I did wonder why sometimes I’d still dig up treasure but not see an “x”. Good to know the metal detector is still viable
If you take john metal detecting with you on sundays and keep your metal detector over a treasure spot for a second, john will dig it up. No need to use a shovel at all :P
This game is really addicting, relaxing and fun. I've played a bunch of these style games, but I think this is the best one. The only thing I wish was that there was a way to pause.
If your out and about and tired because its late.. bring a sleeping bag with you, which you can get in Fletches Tent and you can sleep anywhere and be totally refreshed to start the next day and you won't be attacked either.
I really like this, it’s like an OP strat. We’ve been conditioned to head back home to sleep every night but I’ll need to try this! Seems super broken-just bring a sleeping bag! 🤣
Setup a row of 4-5 camp fires, the animals won't cross the fires but you can jump over them to force the aggressive mobs to go the long way around. The mobs will accidentally catch on fire plus you can take pot shots at them to kill with relative safety
First time i hung out with john, ended it when we were in the desert. He didn't show up to work for 2 days 😅 had to reload on the 2nd day for him to show up
@@FetchQuestsYT Heck yeah, only got about 10 hours in it, but I havent played animal crossing since the game cube so im really digging the style. Can see myself doing 100+ hours easy, great title.
By far the best strategy to get money in early game is fishing, and of course not any fish, u gotta fish barracudas at night, and if ur base is far away from the northeast ocean, u gotta carry ur sleepbag, since each barracuda is sold for 16k, u could easily get over 160k per day just by fishing 5-6 hours.
Dang, you're probably John's number 1 customer and he doesn't save you from a croc. The world of Dinkum is harsh xD Ah, so the manual book does do something. All my machinery is inside and I couldn't hold it out while indoors.
Good question! I had to address this in my follow up video 😁 Yes, the game doesn’t consider the ocean/river water as “watering” the crops. You still need to water the crop with your watering can. Check out the “Even More Tips” video if you need help watering them
Props to you if you have your home base is in the center 👌🏼 I do think if you were on the edge of the map and wanted to travel to another edge, it’s nice to zoom around quickly. Maybe there’s something to mine or forage 😁 I like the idea of the base being right in the middle!
