This restoration I really like this one when I was 10 my Granfarther let me pick out a Dinky toy at the Toy shop in Southend I got the Morris Oxford in Green and cream I took it to my Aunts house played outside with it in the garden and lost it my grandad was so mad with me Merry Christmas Martin.
Thanks Tony, its certainly a nice casting . I bet you were gutted you lost it i often wonder how many toys are lost in people's gardens . Have a great Christmas 🎄 and all the best martin 👍
Isn't it marvelous the amount of detail that Dinky included in their castings, which were literally just toys? You've made a wonderful tribute to your mum by restoring that model, Martin. Your detailing work is fantastic. All the very best for Christmas. Take care. Peter.

G day Martin wow talk about bringing it back to life fantastic job. Nice story about you mum and dad it's nice that our parents live on in our memories. Now the Morris Oxford was that a bit bigger than the Morris minor? My middle brother Frank had a Minor in England I think it was a low light anyway it was in 1960. The same year a certain Martin Dares dinky restorations fan with a passion for red MGAs was made👶. Frank worked in a cinema as a projectionist assistant and late one night when he came out to go home it was snowing heavily and blowing a gale. He ran up to the car and jumped in and started the motor. When he put it in gear and release the clutch the car wouldn't move. When he got out to see what was going on he found that the wheels were missing and the car was up on bricks lol. The same thing happened to me in the 80s I went to a gig with my band popped in the club for 5 mins to see where they wanted us to set up and when I went back out to my car the two front wheels were missing. Luckily the manager had the same make car and loaned me his spare wheel and with my spare and three nuts on each wheel I made it home lol. Catch you on the next one mate have a wonderful Christmas and don't drink and dinky rectorate you might get done for being drunk while in charge of a fast moving wire brush lol.😂🤣😂 🎅
That was bad luck then lossing your wheels, I had my hub caps nicked many years ago . I would just like to say a big thank you for your friend ship and support over the last year its been great ,and I hope one day to pay you both a visit. Have a great Christmas and New year my friend
Hi Martin sometimes someone restores a model that makes your day. Thanks for this one there was just something about it. I really like the Volvo, all the best from Ian b & family.
Hi lan iam glad you liked it my friend. And I would like to thank you for your friendship and donations and support over the last year its much appreciated my friend 👍 Have a great Christmas with the family
A special car for a very special lady, one of my mums cars was a Sierra 1.8 LX she gave it to me when she said “mark I’ve had enough of driving “ I was a toddler and she backed the family 1100 into a wall in white city ,dad got out and done a rain dance 😂it was new ,merry Christmas my friend to you and family and thank you for a great year of restorations ,always look forward to the videos ,Mark 🎅🏼🤶🏻🧑🎄 🥃cheers
Isn’t that amazing to look at a model car that brings up a lot of pleasant & funny 😆 memories of your mom & dad, 😃 that’s great. Another very nice 👍 & well done restoration of the Morris Oxford & a tribute to your mom, your a good man & a great friend Martin take care, I may have already said Merry Christmas 🎅🏻🎁🎄 & may you & your family have a Happy New Year 🎉🎊🎆 as well. 👋😎🚗🚙🚘
Before following you here, I didn't know much about these Dinky toys, kind of rare around here. I'm always blown away by the beauty of these models, especially when you are done with them. Thanks for all these cool restorations and have a great Christmas Holliday my friend.
Really nice Martin. These are my favorites. Base, wheels, axles and body. Beautiful in their simplicity. Neat story about your mother and father. This toys evoke such great memories. When I was very young, my older brother had a Morris Traveler. He drove it everywhere. This summer I gave him a Corgi reproduction for his 83 birthday. You should have seen his face light up, when I gave it to him. Ah, the memories!
Hi jester I hope you're enjoying your Christmas 🎄. These old ones have some nice details that get covered up by the factory paint so its nice to see them come to life. Great think you did for your brother 👍. All the best martin
Brilliant Job Martin 👍 loved the walk down memory lane ). I really appreciate all the effort you put into these uploads, very glad your expensive glasses are enroute, I will take this opportunity to wish you and yours all the very best this Christmas Martin, may it be a joyful peaceful time.
Thanks Rob ,that's very kind of you and it means a lot my friend. And you too have a great holiday period. And a happy new year to you and your family 👪
Fantastic job Martin, bless ya mate .Beautiful car now as your mom would like it! My mom received her Zhiguli yesterday, she was over the moon ,well done Martin
Really enjoyed this restoration along with your commentary, had some chuckles. My Mom backed her car into a red and white stripe pole, Dad could never understand how she didn't see it. LOL. Thanks again for doing this for us. Merry Christmas Martin.
Nice restoration Martin! Loved the green and glad you did the hubcaps on the wheels chrome. Thanks for a super year of videos and Merry Xmas to you and your family!
Bonnie wee beastie! Reminded of the little plastic HO scale car we used to have as a li'l whelk - long since disintegrated from play. For the life of us we thought it said Hillman on the bottom. Only a 1950s Minx would fit the bill - as would either a Morris Minor or Oxford, it seems...
You certainly stir the memories with your restorations. This is the first car that I can remember my dad owning. His was black and I still have a picture of me sat on the wing as a youngster. I remember sitting on my dad's lap and steering it around the old airfield at Yelverton on Dartmoor. It even had a name of Poddy due to the POD reg haha even the dog knew it was trip time if Poddy was mentioned haha. Happy times and great memories thank you.
Thats a great memory my friend, you had the same experience as me sitting in the driving seat with your dad helping. Great memories 👌 All the best martin
Another cracking job Martin. Well done on the hub caps, I'm pretty sure they would be very wonky were I to try that. I hope everyone at Dare Towers had a suitably pleasant festive season and New Year. Cheers!
Nice tribute to your Mum Martin, and telling us about your Dad. My godmother had one of these Morris Oxfords when I was a kid and in a similar green colour so this has brought back find memories for me. Hope you get to have an enjoyable Christmas with family and friends. See you in the Tavern and I'll raise a glass or 2 with you. Cheers Michael
Hi Martin that’s one of my favourite dinky cars and what a great job you done on it. The colour and the details looks absolutely brilliant Well done. And I would like to say thanks for your great videos this year and to wish you and your family a merry Christmas.
Nice resto,Martin.i'll be on the resto front, xmas day,got a backlog that needs sorting.anyway, thank's for all your uploads this year, they've been fun watching.Have a super Christmas,& i look forward to your next one.
Thanks Derrick, yes its a great casting It was funny when that happened funny how memories stick with you . Have a great Christmas and New year my friend
I’ve said before, I love to see these old casting done up and they do say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder……..well, these old eyes behold great beauty in what you created there. Lovely piece of work indeed 👍🏻👌🏻👏🏻 I know what you mean about the cost of specs. I’ve always considered that , as part of your body, your eyes and teef should be on the NHS. I’m still in the Ambulance Service ( London’s most decrepit paramedic!) and know how money is wasted across the whole organisation…….otherwise, it could be done. ‘Nuf whinging, this isn’t the time or place…….. Magnificent job mate. You and yours have a happy, healthy and safe Christmas, ditto the new year, with fingers crossed that it’s better than this one…… Ho, ho, ho…….👍🏻🎅🏼👍🏻🇬🇧
Thanks very much my friend. I would just like to say respect to you and your fellow colleagues you do a brilliant job and difficult one at times . So you get a massive thanks from me . Some of these older castings do have some fantastic details considering thay were toys . Have a great day .
aw, these everyday rides are often the best, as people have memories of driving the originals back when... nowadays you have to look hard waiting for model companies to bring them back again, sometimes it looks like ferrari here, mercedes SL there (exaggerated, of course). that green is almost the same as your cutting mat. your poor camera surely had to struggle. XD also nice to see what a few details added can do. for a moment I thought I saw the real car on the roundabout. :D
Happy New year Lothar, the trouble today is all cars look basically the same ,back when I was young cars had character, and great style. The extra details do set it off I must admit. Thanks for your support throughout the year my friend
Nice job on the Oxford, Martin. Good traditional choice of colour and sensitively detailed. Tell us about the Corgi Zephyr being turned into a UTE... please! I have a TRAX Zephyr Ute from Australia... and, by the way, what do you use for cleaning the Molotow Chrome off the paintbrush? I have tried all sorts of stuff but the brush never really gets clean. Good news on the peepers and gregs!
Morning fraser The zephyr is a corgi someone sent it in with no glass or interior and taken apart so I thought I would do a pick up custom out of it I have some new wheels and a couple of recro seats and we will see what happens. Regarding the chrome pen I personally haven't used it with a paint brush ,but I would recommend trying cellouse thinner, this is what I use for all my brushes. All the best martin 👍
Hi 🙋🏻♂️Martin nice resto again, have enjoyed all the resto’s so far. Merry 🎅 Xmas 🎄 and good new year. When will you be tackling the Spot-on model you have.
