You said your parents were both 'super, super chic'. Obviously that's you too! Love your style and thanks so much for making this video. Lots of great ideas.
I hate entertaining (coz I am broke and have no friends) but god damn I love these kind of videos. Living vicariously. I love the calm and art associated with these kind of videos.
As a frustrated theater major in college I fell into food & beverage and ultimately became a caterer. My dinner tables are my stage. I have dishes, serve ware and glassware for every holiday! I truly enjoyed this episode and took such joy in knowing you are an artist with the tablescape! Bon appetit!
I just discovered your channel. I absolutely love it. My passion is entertaining and making people feel comfortable and cared for. I love how you break everything down and make it seem not so daunting. And you're too funny! Have been binge watching this weekend. Thanks for producing these lovely videos!
This is simple, understated and very elegant. I like how the table is not overloaded with dishes, flatware and flowers. We can really see the beauty of the set up. Great job! 👍🏾
ugh i cannot express how much i love this show it needs more attention. i've learned so much from it. also fun fact my mother always served french style and only brought out the desert separately, which was her way of keeping her energy so she could entertain guests more happily. maybe out of style but its always an option if you think having a course meal is too intimidating at first!
Love .... from California..... I have collected China and crystal forever.... and I use it ..... hope that never changes in our society its dinner theater 🌹
Half the fun of having guests for dinner is setting the table, I love it. I've been married forever so I can usually shop my own home and decorate without buying anything 😀👍🏻 loved this video. I never let people help with dishes either, they came over to relax and have fun. Hugs to you and Leonard from Pennsylvania 👵🏻
Always a pleasure to see new content, Randy! This one was right on the money. So many have no idea how to set the table for a dinner party. Keep it simple....excellent advice! And so with you on the napkin rings! I had probably 2 dozen and years ago I just stopped using them. They added an extra step to set the table and my guests had one more thing to futz with. I had more things to gather, maintain and store. Done with the rings. They went to the charity shop. On the lilies...Asiatics have little to no smell. Orientals will make your house smell like a funeral parlor. There is a big difference. As with your butcher and fishmonger, cultivate a relationship with a good florist. They love repeat customers and can clue you in on inexpensive options that have great visual impact and guide you on the stinkers. A good source of flatware are consignment shops. I know most people want ease of maintenance, but if you have a good eye and don't mind a bit of polishing, you can score beautiful silver-plate for very little cash. Stainless too, if you just can't bear polishing silver. Thanks Randy!
RU-vid suggested this video, and that is how I found you. I’ve watched this video multiple times. I so appreciate the guidance on how to properly set a table and host a dinner. The presentation is the prelude to how the food tastes. ;)
I've been looking for a set of pheasants since I first watched this video back in 2018. I finally found a set yesterday!!! Thank you for everything you've taught me.
OMG. . . I started watching this video and thought, this woman is definitely off the wall. I doubt if I'll even watch it to the end. Did you prove me wrong! I was howling as your wonderful and dry sense of humour continued to captivate me. . . along with your assured opinion on what you like and don't like. I can definitely see you in theatre. Anyhow, Randi, I'm hooked. I've just subscribed. Anticipating watching more of your vlogs. Thanks, Darryl
OH MY!! THANK YOU for your awesome comment!! Stay tuned for our Christmas special shooting soon but new content on the way !! It means the world to us that you enjoyed the video!! RS
Just discovered DPT! Love it! Bingeing on it! Taking notes for recipes and tips. Just ordered a kitchen knife based on your channel. Your energy and your team are amazing. Love your singing voice and recordings! And the backstory for each one of them. No new episodes...so you need to get to work! Hugs to Leonard!
This is such a valuable information, thank you for sharing!! I am Polish descent so I noticed that we set out table differently than my friends... now I know that our way is called the French service! LOL... NEW SUBBIE!
LOVE DPT! Also, I want to mention that you can get tons of white, plain dishes at the Dollar Tree! I've gotten almost all of my dishes there, and the best part is if you break/chip a piece, you can go and buy just one! You don't have to always buy a whole set.
so happy I found your channel! love your personality!! Gotta agree about the candles, my mother always lit the candles and blew out... I do to this day, as well as my 2 grown daughter's! It does take time to grow your collection, from different places, times, and as gifts from ppl at times...
Just found your channel. Love it! New subbie . Can’t believe you don’t have more subbies and that I just found you, this is my jam. Love to entertain. I’ve always said people don’t care what they are served, they just want to be invited. 😉
pamela cox thank you so much for subscribing!! Just to say : My belief is that making other people feel loved and important in your home is a very subtle and important gift for both you AND your guest!! Life is so short: entertain!!!❤️
I only now happened upon your videos and I am so glad I did! I love your recipes, tips and your presentations. Your approach to entertaining is aligned with mine. Keep up the great work!!
Monica Ramos-Correa thanks so much for watching!! Please subscribe as more fun is one the way- next up? Kitchen equipment suggestions and then ... back to cooking!!!
randall sharp I subbed! I am in awe of you in the best way possible. You present things in such a down to earth manner that anyone can feel somewhat at ease in hosting a simple, yet lovely dinner party...TONIGHT! 😊
You are hilarious. I had to laugh so many times. 👌🙌☀️ Thank you for this interesting video. I thought I already knew it all. Well you have taught me otherwise. I am definitely prepared now.
"It's Magic" ! 😂I totally agree with you , which is why I HATE OPEN KITCHEN PLANS!!! AGHH!! When we were building our home in Austin, we were constantly being bombarded by comments on how great the OPEN KITCHEN plan was. Nope. I don't want all my dirty dishes and the evidence of all my cooking efforts on display for everyone to see. Nooooo...I like the mystery involved in giving a dinner party. The Magic of how all this wonderful food appeared before my guests, prepared with love just for them to be enjoyed on a special evening. So, I wish home builders could understand that not everyone likes this layout for a home. I love a large kitchen with a SEPERATE dining room. So nice. Thanks for all the great tips. So appreciated. Love from Texas!!❤️
Oh my God I love that your knowledgeable and good at this but you also explain it casually and realistically. Gonna throw my first dinner party in 2 weeks and I feel ready lol
Loved every minute, so much I have learned , I will start decorating my table setting it in a fancy way sorry simple way. Thank you I will look for some more of your videos.
Love this video. I immediately shared it with my niece, who is getting married soon, and looks to me for entertaining tips. I have to admit I do love my Mackenzie Childs black and white checked napkin rings, but I bake my own challah and several times have baked braided challah napkin rings which my guests munch on as soon as they sit down.
So glad I came across your channel, I love table dressing as I love to entertain and really feel it should be a magical experience! I loved this video, learnt a few things too which was great and your energy, humor and personality really shone through and made it a great video, new Sub for sure🙂
chen christine hey!! Most dinner parties are family casual!!! So glad you enjoyed the episode and remember making people feel loved and comfortable is the greatest elegance of all. Thank you so much for watching!!!
Randy, I'm with your mother on stacking plates at the table! Totally disgusting. Especially when they scrape the leftover food onto another plate so they can stack them. And btw, AC/DC is a great choice for cleaning up after the party (often the next morning in my case). Love your show!
Heather Martino Oh man I totally agree about the scraping… Also if you do a slight clean up during dinner the guests should not hear that… You know what I mean? Thank you so much for watching! My mother would be proud!
Hmmm... my version of Jacques Pepin's Butternut Squash Velvet soup with roasted, crushed pistachios sprinkled around the perimeter of the Crate & Barrel Coup bowl. Fabulous.
Wonderful advice when having parties! Loved it 😁😁! Except the fork putting in my pocket, I know you’re joking but no. Like I said though loved your advice 😁😢
