First saw the Young Rascals in 1965-66 in NY at the Fox Theatre on Flat Bush Avenue. Murray the K Show. When I saw Dino with his tight jerky motions and twirling the sticks with both hands I said I have to learn how to do that. Never saw a more tighter drummer since then. He is great.

What a great guy! I got to see Dino in 1966 and 1970. I also got to see CTA (before they were famous) open for Jimi Hendrix in 1969. So, I also got to see Danny Seraphine and Mitch Mitchell in the same night. I am so fortunate to have been a young drummer in those days witnessing history. Dino will always live on in my heart as an inspiration. What a modest guy with wonderful talent! RIP, Dino.

Dino; was around for and with the best. No one had that Bass Drum feel patented ,til He played . Then Bonham came up. Dino ,already had it down. The Rascals were Great live, to see and experience . What a learning skool it was ...

I saw the Young Rascals when they played in Charlottesville, Virginia in the early 1970's and clearly remember Dino Danelli throwing his drumsticks about 30 feet straight upward and without looking catching them when they fell and didn't miss a beat.

Thanks for these interviews. The Rascals were my favorite band in the 60's. And Lib. is my hero and I had the fortune to spend some time with Lib.and he helped me tune my new Tama kit to sound like his. Bob

my best ever band was the North Syde. - Chicago group. our best drummer ever was Jerry Bender, who also crossed fom jazz to rock. There' so much to be said for training and gift - he definitely had it ! Dino was one of our first idols - what a great showman and drummer - keep on rockin'

Jimmy James ( and the Blue Flames, better know as Jimi Hendricks) doing R&B with Dino Danelli on drums. It just didn't get any better. Jimi played with Little Richard and The Isley Brothers before he headed to England and became the Psychedelic KING of guitar playing.

I remember seeing Johnny Coleman on drums. Dino is 100% right. This guy was unreal. Not sure if Dino knows it or not but after Johnny left Ronnie Speeks band he was in a 9 piece all soul group. They did come out here to California but surf music was in so they just went back to TN and reformed in a smaller group called the Majestics. There are no recordings that I know of featuring this band. They came up to the Transfer Station in NJ and mostly played at a real dive called Phil's Kitchen. Thanks to the Majestics jamming the place the club doubled their size. Of course, the musicians as usual did not share in the bounty and went back home to TN eventually pretty broke. The best small band I ever heard in my life was the Majestics. Johnny on drums, Gene Pike from the El Rods on the Gibson 335, Ronnie on B-3 Hammond and Little Benny on vocals. Ronnie and Little Benny were both black. Gene and Johnny were white. Gene played through a Fender Showman and could make his guitar sounds like bells, trumpets, etc. Ronnie was the all time funkiest rhythm organist I ever heard in all of my years of playing. Benny used to sing through the clubs cheap Bogan pa system and he just burned the place up. He used to iron his hair and wrap it around his head like a turbin. Incredible memories....only wish there were some recordings or any other info on the Majestics.

I started playing drums in '68, and was in a working group a year later. I taught myself by playing to James Brown and the Rascals. Before Ginger or Mitch, there was Dino. He had that panache and showmanship, along with rock solid technique. I consider Dino the Gene Krupa of Rock and Roll.
