Dinosaurs swam and walked here along the shores of ancient Lake Whitmore in present day St George Utah. Come learn about this ancient lake with me at the St George Dinosaur Discovery Site. While visiting the museum you will learn about how tracks are made, about how geologists can tell what type of environment the dinosaurs lived in, and about the types of dinosaurs that lived along Lake Whitmore as you learn about paleontology!
Special thanks to the paleontologist, geologists, and volunteers at the St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site!!

¿Do all fungi excrete Calcium Carbonate? Where did the fungi live during this time of Lake W? Did the fungi live on the tree when the tree was alive? Did the fungi also eat rocks & share the minerals with the nearby plants? Is the sample fungi still in the area today? Do fungi networks live in an area forever or might they be terminal? Any conjecture about the relationship between the fungi & the dinosaurs? ¿Say evidence of athletes feet or digestive processes? Thx for exposing these great treasures!

Wow. Interesting questions. Thank you. The Calcium carbonate was being deposited by algae. The algae lived in the lake and would grow on tree branches, roots, etc. once they were in the lake. We can see these processes today in lakes. I really like the question about the link to dinosaur and fungi. I am not sure. I am not an algae or fungi expert, so I cant answer all of these questions, but I am excited to learn more. Thank you again the great questions and please keep asking. :)
