This is an ancient roman arena in the northern Italian city of Verona. It's a bit smaller than the Roman one but still fairly intact and very much used for many events. It was empty here due to the Italian corona virus lockdown at this time last year.
This was basically the soundtrack of the first lockdown in Italy, right after the pandemic break through. The empty arena is a sign of the time we're living in
And here is the translation: English translation You know what I think? That I shouldn’t be thinking, that if I think about it then, I’m an animal and if I think about you, you’re a soul But maybe it’s this storm that brings me to you And I know I shouldn’t be found without an umbrella, even though I realized that as far as I run away I always come back to you Who make noise, here and I don’t know if it’s good for me if your noise suits me But you make noise, yes and I can’t stand this unnatural silence between you and me And I’m walking without talking with nowhere to go I’m wearing down my shoes and perhaps my shoes know where to go That I find myself in the same places again, exactly those places that I should have avoided and I pretend I don’t remember and I pretend to forget But I realize that as far as I run away I always come back to you Who make noise, here and I don’t know if it’s good for me if your noise suits me But you make noise, yes and I can’t stand this unnatural silence between you and me But you make noise, yes and I can’t stand this unnatural silence And now I don’t want to do without that beautiful noise you make
This was supposed to be Italy's entry for Eurovision 2020... instead it became one of the symbols of the first lockdown due to the pandemic in Italy. He still got a stage to perform on... the Arena di Verona, empty and illuminated by lights in the colors of the Italian flag and EU flag. You can actually find videos of Italian people singing this from their balconies, all together, their voices breaking the silence of the city. The empty streets, the quiet city, just felt so unnatural. ❤❤❤
With this song Diodato won the Sanremo Festival 2020. During the festival week usually you can hardly get away from news of it, all media are focused on that. It wsa the same in 2020, February. And then, when the festival buzz subsided, we suddenly woke up to Covid, and everything went down from there. So Italy was locked down, the streets were empty, the cities were deserted, and there was such an unnatural silence in the air that this song could not have been more fitting at any other time. Funny thing, Sanremo 2020, winner: Diodato with "Fai Rumore" ("make noise"). Sanremo 2021, winner: Maneskin with "Zitti e buoni" ("shut up and be good").
This is a real colloquium in Verona ..i been there 3 times inside because my favorite vacation location is only 15 minutes from this city ... Lake Garda in Italy. Almost all big world super stars preformed there like Bon Jovi but also Andrea Bocceli and Laura Pausini .. But also Tina Turner ect ect .. Its a real top location. 👊 i wanted to go to Andrea 4 years ago but the tickets cost 350 euro's thats 450 us dollar for 1 ticket. That whas to much also for me but it whas sold out. 🙈🙈😜
He's a great performer, the song is a classic Sanremo ballad but still really original, catchy, with meaningful lyrics. This song is the first single from a great album too!
What still gives me chills is that the chorus says “make some noise here, because I can’t stand this unnatural silence between you and me” and at the end it also says “and I can’t stand to be without that beautiful noise you make anymore” and he sang this in a completely deserted arena, no noise from the public, and it really hit it all home that the contact between people was missing. Which is why the performance at ESC the next year was so cathartic, because it also started this way but then the audience was singing along and the dancers were all around him, holding him like it meant we could all finally be around each other again. It makes me cry every time. I always watch this performance, and then the one with the public and dancers. It just hits so good.
This is not a proper stadium, it's an Arena, build by romans 2000 years ago to host their shows... And two tousands years later we still use it for our shows, concerts, operas...
Thanks for your great opinion about this song, i new you would like it. I think this might have been the winner of the 2020 festival, i instantly fell in love with his voice and songs and play them frequently although i don't understand Italian, but it's the way he brings over his emotion in the song.
So emotional,Italy was in a terribileockdown for covid, the first country hit.The song is so beatiful too. Ciao Diodato, complimenti r un abbraccio da Napoli.
The Keystone Channel, Thank you for giving me the knowledge about the place he is performing it is magnificent most definitely! I am sure it had the best acoustics as well. I appreciate you!! We miss all miss you in the discord. Thank you for all the love and positivity that you bring with you. Much love
@@TheKeystoneChannel Actually, the name Colosseum refers only to the Amphitheatre Flavium (in Rome), not to all amphiteathres, because in ancient time there was (near by the Amphitheatre Flavium) a 30-metre (98 ft) bronze statue built in honor of Emperor Nero, called Colossus of Nero. The statue sometime later (around 4th century AD) disappeared or was destroyed but the name Colosseum rimaned to the Amph. Flavium, because it was huge. So, it's not correct to call the Arena (or Amphiteatre) of Verona ''the colosseum''
After reacting to the whole ESC2019 show (a 6,5 hours reaction for a 4 hour show hehe) together with Simple Reacts, he said they're talking about reacting to the whole ESC 2021 show. Let's go for that one in stead of a single performance ;-)
