Great. Glad I found this. I get totally the diode across a motor to cancel back EMF. I just ripped a PARKSIDE drill apart. It has a standard 7.2 to 20 volt switch, but rated at 20 amps that makes it different. What makes it even more fifferent is a third wire to a mid point on the battery. As a drill it is two way. It had a 6amp 400v diode across the switch. As I have had this laying around for ages trying to find the switch (and failed) I am going to try a switch without the mid point wire, but, as it is two way, where does the diode go. Is it across the battery, because the load swings polarity to change direction?
I heard that if we use solar cell we need diode. I have mini helicopter motor with fan (toy) and I hook it with solar cell (8x4cm), do I need diode or other component to make it better. It can turn on when the sun is hot enough, but I want to make it better... how?
