@@someoneelse6934 Her psychic hotline infomercials aired from 1990-1994. This clip was from 1985 on "Solid Gold" syndicated television. She hosted "Solid Gold" from 1980-1981 and 1985-1986, while the totality of the program aired from 1980-1988. So there was no connection.
Air Supply + Dionne Warwick = Solid and Pure Gold! Not only they performed a musical trio in a majestic way, but they managed to nail two diferent songs in the same key, at the same time. My hat's off to Dionne, Graham and Russell.
I lived for the duet segments. Michael Miller’s arrangements and medley mashups were always EPIC to me. I recorded all of Dionne’s solos and her duets on cassette and played them for years. I never thought I’d see the videos again. I’m so grateful and thrilled to relive this period in my musical life. SG was a huge part of my saturday nights.

@@leafl75 Yes, the original "Solid Gold" was a 2-hour countdown special of the too hit songs of 1979 that was originally broadcast in January 1980. It was originally intended to be a one-time special hosted by Dionne Warwick and Glen Campbell. Ratings were so good that Paramount Domestic Television, its syndicator, decided to turn it into a weekly series. That weekly series began on September 13, 1980. It was a one-hour weekly series. It aired usually on Saturday nights, and since not a network show, but in first-run syndication, it could air on any station, network or independent. This was all over-the-air; no cable required. Together with an annual 2-hour Christmas specials, 2-hour summer specials, and 2-hour countdown specials, the regular series would air for 8 hours, until July 23, 1988, for a total of 332 episodes. There was a 5-day-a-week summer series called "Solid Gold Hits" in 1984. This w is just a sample. What a sample it happens to be! But there was so much to it, including the Solid Gold Dancers, which were 2 men and 6 women who were in shape and danced to the beat of the music each episode.

Some of the choreographies and the way the women moved look as modern as that in the current time...except that they were much more classy. Love love love ! Oh I have seen for a short time a choreography with one woman dancing on "Hard to say I'm sorry " do you remember that episode ?
@@leafl75 Yes, the Solid Gold Dancers were amazing choreography and well-built in-shape bodies. The chroreography at the time, the 1980s, was ahead of its time. The "Hard To Say I'm Sorry" part I had seen was the part where the host Marilyn McCoo sang that song in an episode from the 1982-1983 season. I do not know if that is to which you refer. There were 332 episodes of "Solid Gold" from 1980-1988. It is now considered a classic. By the way, most American television, including "Solid Gold" when it aired, has commercial breaks for sponsored advertisements and network and station promos, which average 8 minutes per 30 minutes show, or 16 minutes per 1 hour show. That is how they keep on the air. There are much longer video clips with the Solid Gold Dancers and some of their acrobatics. There were always 2 men and 6 women, with new ones as the show moved through the 1980s.
@@jasonburger3533 The Marilyn McCoo version of "Hard To Say I'm Sorry " I' ve seen it, she sang in duet but the video I referred to was with two of the Solid Gold dancers, dancing on the original version if I remember. Do you know if there had been other Chicago songs and if the band had performed on SG. Air Supply is fantastic with Dionne as much as with Marilyn (Sweet Dreams). There was a great era, when the different musical genres blended so well 🙂.
I'm 54 years old, mainly an 80's HEAVY METAL, long hair JUDAS PRIEST fan. but I have a soft side and remembering the early 80's, these were the songs before I discovered HEAVY METAL, but great songs and great performances.
He had such a high voice and sweet at same time . Perfect duo. Air Supply wrote legendary songs. I have been singing for 25 and back then air supply surely where one of my young inspirational voices
This was an absolutely fantastic arrangement in all of them absolutely nailed it. I miss this show. Dionne Warwick and Marilyn McCoo were absolutely fantastic on this.
I am SO glad this version is back up, I remember this episode as an 8 year old, now as an adult, it still touches me, wouldn't trade my childhood for anything #80sKid

Nunca pensé que volvería a ver los videos. Estoy muy agradecido y emocionado de revivir este período en mi vida musical. SG fue una gran parte de mis noches de sábado.

Alguns anos atrás fomos num show do Air Suplay em Curitiba. Foi fantástico. Top mesmo. Agora falta o show da diva Dionne Warwick. Prima da super diva Whitney Houston.
