Lexi needs an award for the speed of which she got to review this 😊thanks to your detailed and balanced reviews we knew you will give us an honest opinion
I absolutely will keep the Dior palettes I have. I’m so tired of companies changing, then ruining existing formulas in an effort to go “clean”. And, I won’t be buying any of the new palettes without trying them in person. Thank you for being so quick with this review.😊
Ugh. Sadly the new shadows looked like they did not swatch as smooth as the old. I have never ever ever in my life seen more "entire reformulations" of product than I have in the last 4 years. And it has gotten completely out of control (and beyond wasteful) in the last two years. I can understand if there is new technology (unusually long lasting, insane blurring, etc). But to "go a slightly greener" is a b***s*** excuse. Go green all the way or go home because news flash Dior, you are still not green. The bottom line - it is for these companies to make MONEY. Thank you for always giving your honest opinion. Your recommendations have never disappointed me. I appreciate your channel.
I completely agree! It's such a shame that this is how things are going in the industry. Companies need to slow down and put out more thoughtful releases.
Thank you so much, Lexi, for getting this out so quickly! I was really nervous about the Dior quint reformulation because I think the "now old" formula is so great. I'm really disappointed. I guess this means all their limited edition palettes will also have the "cleaner" formula. I'm so glad I went crazy and bought so many palettes in the now old formula.
Great review as always. I picked up the Khaki Quint and the new kohl in black. I’m not replacing my quints even with a formula change. It’s not a good enough reason. I agree. It would have been nice to have new and different color-stories! Oh and I do have a few of the Velvet ones and I like them!
I'm glad to hear that Roz! I like them too, just not as much as the originals. I'm really hoping that they bring out new color stories though. I'm curious about their purple one that looks like a combo of plum tulle and tutu.
Thanks Lexi! I'm not going to try the new eyeshadow palettes anytime soon. What happened to the saying "If it ain't broke don't fix it"? The last revision was stellar and I love the palettes I have. Now the eyeliners I hv to say I really love that shade of green and the waterline that's not marketed as a waterline looks like the shade is the best you swatched from a tone perspective. Glad to see you this morning!😊
@@LexiJong No problem. Thank you for your videos. I'm a huge lipstick lover and your videos are always my first go-to for every lipstick I'm interested in☺️ I enjoy all your content but especially your lipstick reviews.
Hey Lexi thanks for the video! I wish they would come up with some pastel colors like they have in the past with the greens. Maybe even more pop of purple and lavender too. I’m not a huge fan of this shimmer/metallic sheens. I prefer Tom ford wet dry formula for those or even Mac shadows.
I was really hoping for new color stories too and those are exactly my wishes for shades. Hopefully they will be adding more but even so, the formula is just not as tempting.
Thank you Lexi! I’m sticking with all my Dior pallets I have which is almost all of them. I love the formula I have and don’t need anymore from Dior for a very long time lol. You always come through with the most detailed reviews. ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you Lexi that was very quick 😊 Thank was watching a RU-vid video from Europe to see about these new formulation then I saw you already got one 👍🌷
You look beautiful Lexi and I love your nail polish color. So springy!! I haven’t tried the “old” version of the Dior quints but maybe I will be able to find a original quint. Thank you for the review and all of your thoughts and comparisons.
Hi Lexi, as always you answered everyone's question factually and in great detail. Why do these companies make these decisions where they reformulate an already successful reformulation and make it not only worse but create pretty much the same colour arrangements. Surely their money could have been put forth towards creating another product or revamping an existing product which was deemed substandard....or putting forth a new colour line in the existing formula. I'm glad you didn't go all in with these. Thank you for your formidable insight!
😕I think they should have kept the old applicators! They are actually good and work perfectly with the different eye shadow formulas. I do use them all the time. I can build a complete eye look with them in the same time as using brushes and the sponges pick up shimmers better than brushes. Plus the pointy sponge tip was utterly perfect for inner corner and lining the eye.. Again worked better & quicker I think than a lot of brushes
Thank you Pam! Although these products aren't bad, it's just so disappointing that they aren't better than the previous version. This was such a wasted opportunity imo.
Hi Lexi !! Thanks for your honesty and another great review . I’ll be giving the new Dior a miss although I do like the colours of the Kaki . I have the Chantecaille nude waterline pencil , it’s my favourite too 🤗💕
Ugh! I’m so sad! It’s just as I feared…Another fantastic Dior product made worse with their clean beauty reformulation. (Their Forever foundation was my holy grail. After reformulation to make it “clean”, I can’t wear it because it breaks me out.) There were a few color stories I’ve been meaning to pick up in the quints. I’m going to do it now, before the wonderful current formula is gone. This was so, so helpful!!
Lexy I feel disappointed with Dior too. I love their quints. Now you must do an updated quint ranking please. It will really help me with my decision on what extra quints I need to buy before they are gone FOREVER. Many thanks for your honest review.
@@LexiJong I would love to also see the most recent LE included (even from 2020) as in Australia we can still get these once they are sold out in the US. I will leave it up to you though. 😊😊👏🤗
@@LexiJong whatever you have time and interest in doing is good with me. Thank you so much for chatting and considering this request. Have a lovely weekend.
Hi Lexi! Thank you so much for this! The appeal of “new-and-improved” marketing too often leads to disappointment. I am impressed with how fast you received the new quint. I really appreciate the timing of your review because there is still opportunity to get OG version quints - and at a lower price point too! Do you intend to review any of the new colour stories (Rose Tulle, Pied de Poule, etc.)?
Thank you Jocelyne! I have to admit that I was so surprised how quickly it arrived because it was less than 24 hours. I was glad I had the time to test it out right away. I am thinking of the purple quint that looks to be a mix of tutu and plum tulle but I think that might be it for now.
HI Lexi - I enjoyed the video and found the eye pencil comparisons to be so helpful - seeing them all close together will be something I can file away for a future purchase. Such a shame that reformulations seem to be a norm and often with a poorer outcome. I love your lipstick BTW - very fresh looking 😊
I would have more intrigued if the shelf life would have been increased too. Although I understand it is not specifically the case while using the clean ingredients.
Lexi, thank you for reviewing the new Dior quint so quickly!! I won’t be picking up the new formulation I purchased so many of the past “old” ones and happy with those. After your review I don’t feel so bad for having so many 😆. I do have the VB and Chantecaille waterline pencil and find those work best on me. Thank you for the review & swatches it was very helpful!! 😊🌺
Good day Lexi! Your video is very helpful. Unfortunately just like other brands are doing, they have cheapened their ingredientes and quality but their price keeps going up non stop. Even the case looks not classy. They have even cheapened the way it used to open. And they even messed with the logo!!!😠 that's so soooo bad. I mean we pay full price even for the dual ended brushes but now... wow. It looks like a knock off... The matte box is cheaper to produce than the glossy one so... really??? Giving cheaper products for the same price??? Their "clean" excuse is so false. They don't want to spend their money importing ingredients so they prefer using bs materials. And they are doing that with all their products: perfumes, bags, jewelry, makeup (they ruined my beloved lip balm color reviver!) I really trust your excellent taste and you can't hide your disappointment. Fortunately I bought the quints I liked. Maybe I'll buy a backup for two of the old palettes. It makes me angry how fast they are destroying Dior's elegant image and premium ingredients. Now there is no excuse to buy Dior anymore. Even if they were my favorite brand. 🙁 Thanks to you I am more interested now in Givenchy and Guerlain. Sad times... Love you!😊
I fully agree with you!! I actually had some rather clueless people on another video say how Dior was so great doing it for the good and even if it means more expensive ingredients 😂😂😂what world do they live in. Nothing here is more expensive. It's cheaper. And you are fully right :they have for years now continued to use cheaper and cheaper ingredients for all their products while raising prices. And the same goes for Chanel... Their hand bags use cheaper and cheaper materials that break down or tarnish quickly. That isn't real luxury anymore
Exactly! I used to buy everything Dior launched because their quality was undeniable. But they started messing with my favorite perfumes ny "reformulating" them... meaning watering them down. And discontinuing the ones that last the most likr Absolutely Blooming. I used to buy all their lipstick shades but now it's a no for me. I will enjoy my backups but moving on to other luxury brands. Have a great day!
That is so disappointing! I think Dior won't be an automatic must for me anymore either. Interesting color stories, sure but there are better brands for sure.
I am with you! Dior, Tom Ford, and the current Chanel have been so disappointing. I'm glad Chanel has a new team that should reinvigorate the brand next year. I can't wait for those!
Lol, you are so right! I actually decided I don't even want a Chanel bag anymore. It was always on my dream list in the past but now the prices have gotten too exorbitant for my perceived value. I don't care so much about the brand if I can find something with great quality for a better price and there are many others out there imo.
Thank you for all of the info! I like the smaller Dior Ecrin velvety eyeshadow palette that I got during the winter. I’m honestly not too tempted by the reformulated quints though. It also seems like they made the compacts harder to open. I know you can’t buy everything but are you thinking of sharing first impressions of the Chanel travel size primer and bronzer? I just watched Night Star Beauty’s video and I’m excited to try them. I’m trying to wait to order them from the Chanel site.
Yes! The new compacts are harder to open (maybe people complained about them coming open in a bag or something?) and they are not great if your nails are freshly painted, lol. I was thinking of skipping the Chanel but the new Rosy shade is tempting when that releases so I might pick up a few things when they are available at the boutique. I try to support them as much as I can.
Thanks for the review!! I actually, like my Jungle pallet & the color story more than the new Khaki? If they come out with a color story I am interested in, I might purchase? But I am happy with what I already have from Dior!!
That's a tough one because they are pretty comparable but I would give the edge to Chanel but the color is warmer so it isn't best for cooler undertones imo.
My thoughts Lexi, is that i will not buy the new quints i think. The quints i have, are good. Born 1970, and living in The Netherlands, Europe, so, extra bored for decades by Dior shadows as they could not make eyeshadow, well, not good enough pigmented and smooth. Than, 3 years ago, what happened, wow, they CAN make eyeshadow there, i thought. Now a reformulation: for now a no. I packed today, going away with hubby for a week, our son takes care for our cute puppy, works and studies at home, and while packing, i still have an idiot total of eyeshadows, although i gave a away almost everything PMG/ND/SG because my eyes became to sensitive for these. Eyeshadow. My weakness. Eyeshadow: it also must be very special now, before i buy it. When it was another Suqqu quad, i don't even think, i try to get it, so much i love Suqqu. That Chanel 68 quad of this spring is also special! Tom Ford Hazy Sensuality is beautiful! The Chantecaille quad of this spring is beautiful! I finally could purchae my Hourglass eyeshadow sticks in this country: gorgeous, and they stay where they are! Eyeshadow will always be my super weakness, but, things go better, i only purchase what i really really really want, not so much anymore actually in total. New Dior quints, no, i wait what everybody says after a couple of months at least. But such a good video as always dear Lexi, thanks so much, have a wonderful day!!!😘😘😘😘😘😘
I think that is an excellent way to choose your purchases Annemarie! I completely agree with you about Dior. The ones before the previous formula were terrible!
@@LexiJong thank you!!! Yes, i really try and i do better and better with eyeshadow puchases! Yes the Dior quints before the previous formula were indeed terrible, as all European eyeshadow. I think, when internet came, and than the rest, like RU-vid and Insta, the pressure to make things better maybe helped. I mean when i was 20, 30 plus years with no-sensitive eyes, i would still use ND etc eyeshadows as well. But i'm thankful for every Birthday, don't get me wrong! But i think when they see here in Europe what PMG/ND/SG for instance (there are more) can make besides Suqqu, they feel the pressure now. Clean beauty, perfect goal, but Dior has to do it good than. Gonna pack the rest. Hubby and i have a week off!!! Enjoy your day dear Lexi!!!😘😘😘😘😘😘
For what it's worth, from the couple of reviews I've managed to find, it seems like this particular palette is the one that got the less enthusiastic review. A couple of others are said to be creamier and better. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 I really got into Dior eyeshadows this last year and I absolutely fell in love with the formula. I've been slowly buying them and I still have six on my wish list that I really want. This reformulation annoys me so so much! I literally feel anxious now to get all the ones that I want (which I wasn't planning on buying all at once) in the old formula while I still can. Sucn a stupid and unnecessary move... 😡
That is good to know about the palettes. I will definitely pick up another one when more shades release to see if I notice any differences. I'm waiting for the purple palette. I hope you are able to get those on your wish list.
I have a double gripe with Dior... They also discontinued multiple fragrances in the Privee line 😢 now I need to hunt down New Look and Grand Bal before prices go completely bonkers! And we're talking expensive fragrances here 😑 and now this! I am thinking if I need to pick up back ups but I don't see how when I'm blowing multiple hundreds on fragrance. I really wonder what is behind this.... I mean money is for sure number 1😅 but. Do they really think they will get new customers? Or is it an attempt to have us rebuy the same palettes? Did they have issues with resourcing?.... Definitely an opportunity to again raise prices. This formula doesn't sound good for dry skin🙄
I'm so sorry to hear that! Their fragrances are so expensive and they really should not have made all of these changes at the same time imo. I feel like it's just an excuse to get their regular customers to buy the same palettes again essentially. I don't know why they didn't make more changes to the color stories and what was the reason of removing the originals from their site before they sold out? I wonder what they are doing with the remaining stock because I checked the day before they launched and they were pretty much all in stock at that point.
I would choose the suqqu if you can get it. The kaki is nice but keep in mind it is permanent so it will be around for a while and I think the suqqu formula is nicer.
Ido want to try the green mascara. Why Dior?. 😔 I mean. Thr say “If it isn’t broke , don’t fix it “ so many companies do this. Sadly people buy the new because they don’t have a choice (once the old, sells out ). The liners look dry. Agree
I am so sad about this change! First of all, I don't like the fact they made the packaging harder to open for people who may have limitations of hand/wrist usage. That is inconsiderate. Dior is my favourite brand, beauty and couture. I absolutely love it. However, this move is not a winning move, in my opinion. The green here looks stunning swatched but doesn't perform equally well on the eye, imo. I saw a review of Grand Bal and that was a bit patchy as well. It's such a pity.
That is a shame! I almost bought Grand Bal but thought it just looked even more similar to the original which I have and love. It's such a shame that it is a bit patchy because the original is incredible.
Hello Lexi! Omg, I’m so gonna test these right away, lol. I was so slow with purchasing Suqqu duo chrome eyeshadows that they sold out (@ Selfridges) before I secured my quads. 😫 i do like the old Dior formula though, so I wish they kept the old formula and changed the color stories instead of the opposite. Thanks for this Lexi!
I agree completely Marie! Please let me know what you think of these new ones when you try them out. I'm hoping some of the other color stories are more similar to the original (maybe those with fewer mattes).
