Welcome back everyone and on this week's video I'm doing a dipper update So what I've done is I've spent just over a week visiting the river and photographing the comings and goings of the dippers as they continue to build their nest, just laying down on the river photographing these wonderful bears and watching them it's just a great pleasure and relaxing spending time here.
I've also been out, putting some trail cams in various locations along the river and was surprised to capture a particular animal on the riverbanks, I was hoping just to capture a weasel on the video footage but instead saw something much larger.
After my initial week photographing the dippers on the river over 3 days I then followed up to complete this video by going back four days later to see how the dippers were getting on with their nest building as it turns out it looks like they have completed building the nest and are ready to lay the eggs, so over the next four to six weeks I will be making frequent visits down to the river to hopefully see the chicks as they grow and leave the nest but what a fantastic experience photographing these river birds coming and going.

Great video! Trail cameras/camera traps are very useful, and those look like a good option. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us and sharing your outing with us.

Thanks mate.i really enjoy your vlogs.natural and normal, sometimes, well quite often we can spend a whole day in the cold and wet and see nothing..but when we do it makes it all worthwhile!! I'm in Wales so loved those trips...studio looks Brill. Take it easy

The studio is coming along nicely 👌, and the shots of the dippers were wonderful. I don't think I have seen a RU-vid video by other photographers featuring dippers, yes, but not collecting nesting material. Well done.

Lots to see in this one and also look forward to once the Dippers start bringing up their chicks. Your studio is coming along nicely (lots of room); hoping to see that desk top when it's finished; it really intrigued me. Really beautiful images, Ashley, and I particularly loved the moss-gathering clip. Hope you get a good view of the Otter on your trailcam.

Great video Ash, looks like a top office you’ve got coming along! And the Dipper vlog was spot on, some superb shots of the dippers, I especially like the nest material shots and in flight! Such amazing birds, and along the river is a special place to be! Otter, boom!! What a great sighting. Lovely work as always 👍

Well done on this one, Ash! Fantastic stills and footage of those dippers, and what about that surprise otter eh. There is a future project in the making if ever I saw one. Such a beautiful woodland that is, with all those bluebells too. Cracking job you are doing on that studio there also, give yourself a 'well earned' pat on the back for everything in this vid buddy!! 👏👏👍

Great footage and photos of the dippers, fascinating how they bob up and down. I wonder if there’s any explanation for that behavior? We have dippers in northern California in the Sierra Nevada mountains. And grateful we don’t have midges in California.

Young Hare's are called Leverets! It should be noted that Bluebells are a protected species and shouldn't be walked on!

Many thanks for your comment 👍 just for your piece of mind I am actually following a deer track through the woods and causing minimal harm to the bluebells and I am well aware they are proacted which is why i stick to the same track all the time 😀

Apparently, Dippers use their sharp claws to grip onto the riverbed whilst they walk about underwater finding food. Adults eat a lot of shrimps, and feed their young chicks mainly on mayflies or stonefly nymphs, with caddis larvae increasingly important as the chicks grow....
