Dir en grey focuses on one subject heavily, that subject is “Pain”, any form of pain, and that includes relationships too. Kyo writes lyrics for all dir en grey’s song and he is quite famous for his poetic lyrics, he also takes perspective as a female in some songs. The line “don’t cry anymore, I will be watching you from here” in this song is actually from a female perspective, and the last line of the lyrics of this song has always been skipped because the male role of this song committed suicide per the story line, thus the title is called “Ain’t afraid to die”. Dir en grey is more than a progressive band and Kyo is more than a brilliant vocalist.

@@Kris_ruvd My friend lost his wife and daughters about 12 years ago in an accident, he would never know they would be gone just like that, since then he always posts their pictures on his Facebook page, and they are all smiling in the pictures, he finally moved out from that house last year. This might relate to the back ground video in this Live somehow.

Noticed you guys are reacting to songs that reaction channels usually seem to skip over. I am quite glad you guys have taken a liking to Dir en grey, as they aren't always people's cup of tea. A song I would like to suggest is "Karasu" from Nippon Budokan 2013, as I feel it doesn't have a lot of reactions. Also, Kyo is a vocalist in another group called Sukekiyo. Their song, "Elizabeth Addict" is jaw dropping. Kyo's cleans are unbelievable, the kind you don't normally hear a male sing

Very surprised to see a react to what is essentially Dir en grey’s November Rain lol. For being a song only released as a single 20 years ago, they very rarely play this live. Only a few times I think. I’d actually never seen this. Beautiful.

Humming the melody of the chorus works pretty well to calm down nervous horses. I love your reactions. They are very honest and you both seem to feel the music even without knowing the lyrics like in this one

Thank you David 🤍 and to the two of you for the reaction~ This song holds such deep meaning for me but it always lifts me up which is unusual for a Dir en grey song. I would even go so far to say this is their most uplifting or 'positiv' song. If you want to go deeeeep into the emotional pit mushi, Higeki wa Mabuta wo oroshita yasashiki utsu and Hotarubi are my most cried over songs 😅. At the same time Hotarubi is a poetical masterpiece in my opinion. It's so beautiful and sad. Of course other songs bring you to tears with anger and/or despair but these are really sad ones for me. But to go back to something more heavy I would love to see Karasu. And I hope so much you will get the chance to react to sukekiyo some day. Please someone make it happen~

This is done at the same time as their first album called Gauze back in 1999. I have the disc of their lives at Osaka-Jo Hall December 1999 and they preformed Ain't Afraid to die.
