@@insaneintherainmusic i’m curious as to who even will realize this is a re-recording. i think i stumbled upon it when i first binged your channel in like, 2015 or 2016 haha
And I thought PPF was big for this... To be honest, he is more about making great remixes with wacky instruments, so I'd say both of them are top tier :)
Dire Dire Docks just BEGS for flugelhorn, but then you made it better with the flugelhorn/sax textures. The strings to transition to the higher energy section, as well as really good solos, it’s perfect
Wait does this happen to be a person related to that person who made a comment on his first dire dire docks cover who said “I want to learn this song for my sister’s wedding. We grew up together with this game.” That would be insane if you are that same person
@@zakay_ No, I think they are saying that whoever made this comment was the persons sibling who played at the person who made the comment I am replying to's wedding.
This is something i'd listen during a summer outside festival, while the sun goes down, the wind is blowin' and the chery blossoms are flying. The reverb on the saxophone, the string and the chimes made me think of that atmosphere
I got in a really big verbal fight with a good friend today. After leaving them alone for a while, I was just browsing through RU-vid when I found this in my sub box. It really calmed me down and I managed to sort things out with my friend. Literal magic, Carlos 👍
Talented, sure, but mans has been making covers for 8 years now, consistently putting out loads of covers a year, and all that practice has clearly paid off.
Wouldn't have known that's a thing except for my keyboard. Lol just seems like a generally higher-pitched sax. "Alto" already means "high." Not throwing shade at all, I'm on the brass side and love things like pocket trumpets and I realize things don't need to make sense to be awesome 🍻
JESUS MAN I WAS NOT READY FOR THIS I really can't bring to words how insanely wonderful this song was for me. By the end I was on the floor absolutely brimming with happiness, a huge smile and a genuine feeling of peace. Why was I on the floor you ask? 2:58. That killed me. I was not ready. Lastly, idk what it is, but in this I could really feel "you". The overall sound, especially towards the middle/end, is exactly the kind of sound I feel is why I love your music so much. No analysis to understand it, I just have this pure feeling like "this is the music that perfectly sums up insaneintherainmusic." Keep up the wonderful work, sorry for the essay. :)
Thank you so much! This is definitely the most fun I’ve had arranging a piece of music in a long time, I just kinda... went for it and had fun, and it turned out very well!
When mentioning all the times you covered Dire Dire Docks in the description, you forgot to mention when you arranged it for the Video Game Jazz Medley! Just wanted to point that out
All I am going to say is it took me 18 minutes to watch this amazing video, I kept pausing, analyzing and gushing over your absolute genius when it comes to your arrangement decisions on this song. Not to mention your solo was superb. It was so good that by the end of this I was crying and had goose bumps all over me. Generation 4 are my favorite Pokemon games of all time and your arrangements for those songs were fantastic, but this rendition of Dire Dire Docks is, in my opinion, one of your best arrangements you've ever done. Fantastic Job, Insaneintherain!!!!
Wow, thanks so much! There’s definitely a lot of depth in this arrangement, so I’m glad you’re taking your time to dig in! I really enjoyed writing it!
Glad to see Mario covers making a comeback. That is how I originally found you, and this arrangement is a beautiful testament to why I stay for more. Another home run with this one! 💥
I remember listening to the first cover of this song a few years ago, and I remember the amount of peace that it brought me in such difficult times. Listening to this version brings back good memories and, once again, peace. All I can do is to thank you for all the good music across the years. Thank you Carlos, and keep making the life of your fans better with your music! 🎶
It's so fun getting to see your setup grow from a tiny apartment room with an electronic drumset, keyboard, and 2 saxophones grow into what seems like entire house dedicated to creating music :D
The Multiplayer album collaboration was one of the first insaneintherain videos I ever saw. I still watch it weekly or so. I'm just so blown away at how much you've learned/grown over the years. This arrangement is beyond gorgeous 🤩🤩
Considering mow much of a VGM staple this is, I'm very pleased with the creative changes you took! Even the simplest things, like leaving out the usual repeat of the left-hand's pattern during the intro (0:01), really set the mood for a familiar yet fresh take on such an iconic theme. I really enjoyed the reharmonizations, too: the reimagined progression at 0:24-0:35, the buildup starting at 1:35, and the stinkin' disco strings part at 5:11 especially stood out to me! Also that ending gave me chills (that chord at 6:05 really caught me off guard)! Like I said, this arrangement really nailed that balance between taking creative liberties in order to provide a fresh new take on the theme while at the same time honoring the original....really well done on this one!!!
Dire Dire Docks (or Jolly Roger Bay) is hands down the most relaxing piece of vid-game music I've heard in my 30+ years of gaming. Thank you very much for doing this. I absolutely love this version.
I've been listening to the n64 version of this lately ever since my DM used it during an underwater session of our campaign. This is amazing. Thank you so much for your hard work!
I really like how several parts of the song were rewritten in a way that almost made them feel offbeat. Not sure if it was due to polyrhythms or changing time signatures, but it was a cool change!
Been enjoying the mini streams lately. Dunno if you saw but I was the flute player who said I got my dad hooked on your channel from the Fire Emblem Fates songs. He wanted me to say from both of us to keep up the amazing work. Stay passionate because music is such a wonderful art and you really have such a gift. Thanks for sharing it with us. 💙
I'm a 23 year old man and I'm crying right now. This is one of the most nostalgic songs from my childhood, and hot damn, you did it justice. From the bottom of my heart, I give you my thanks.
I LOVE the sound of it! It's a Yamaha Recording Custom Steel 14" * 5.5"! My favorite modern drummer, Larnell Lewis, uses it, so I thought I'd take a page out of his book :)
My goodness, this just plucks my heartstrings like a goddamn harp! You are an amazing musician, and deserve so much more visibility than what you already have.
What I've never been this early-- I never played 64, but I've listened to the OST countless of times. This is, as always, an amazing rendition of one of my favorite tracks in the OST. Keep being amazing my man!
Me bopping to everything leading up to 2:59, where I nearly fell out of my chair. I'll be stumped if the soprano sax isn't the prettiest sounding instrument ever. That sound gives me shivers from tip to toe. Listening to stuff like this makes me even more eager to buy a sax and get to it
I am always impressed by the sheer amount of instruments in each and every arrangement, please continue doing such an amazing work! This is absolutely a blast.
Idk which is more astonishing to me: the epicness of this ancient game song that can be remixed and sounds so awesome til today; or the great remix idea you have with this song and make it sounds not ever worse than any current game music.
I like it when Zelda Music and Mario Music become interchangeable like this one, u can tell they have similar themes at times and it make for fantastic tunes
You certainly cannot do Dire, Dire Docks too many times. It's one of the classics of Gaming history, after all. And unsurprisingly, you've done it great justice. All three times, that is.
Beautiful, this is amazing if Mario 64 ever had a remake where they redid the graphics and the soundtrack I would expect this to be the song they use for dire dire docks
Beautiful arrangement! I feel like this video is a prime example of how you've grown as a musician and composer/arranger. You have been so blessed with so much talent. Hope we'll see more arrangements like these in the future! I love how you've done so many variations on this theme in just a few minutes. Reminds me of Wario Land 2 and how many arrangements of its theme were possible. You really fleshed out this beautiful melody and it was awesome to see. Looking forward to more from you! Thanks so much for sharing your growth and talent.
