Another great reaction Bek, I did see them at this concert at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. Great concert and yes they have their own unique sound even before Mark opens his mouth, you know that it Dire Straits 👍

I still have the VHS and music cassette I made from the live simulcast from EON FM. This was a big deal. I saw their first opening date in Melbourne. I spent a night in a queue to get the tickets. The best thing about this, is the bit you don't include. Mark comes on with his National Steel, and segues it straight into Romeo and Juliet. When I saw them two weeks earlier in Melbourne Mark blinded me for about two minutes when a big lime flashed off that guitar straight into my eyes. A lot of people got the same. I saw lots of people go down as the National shot that lime at them.

I have been watching your channel for about 2 months now, and I like your tastes and choices.....esp. Dire Straits. I'm a native Texan who grew up with the 70's music and into the 80's thru my 20's. I count my generation as very fortunate to have lived thru so many great eras of music, but I must say the rawness and creativity of the 70's is waaaay up there. Pure talent.

This is known as the calypso version, as that intro is unique to a love performance, however, it is a wonderful intro. You can see just how tired Mark is here, this was recorded at the end of their Brothers in Arms tour, which went on for a year😮 and it was the biggest ever music tour in Australia until Ed Sheeran in 2017-2018 which is astounding.

Exiled Geordie here , brings a tear to my eye each time I hear it , my Dad worked in the ship yards when he was a young man He just had his 90th birthday last month, we had to move away as a family in the 60s for work like thousands of other people , still miss Geordie land Stay safe and have a great Christmas where ever you are 👍👍👍👍

Please do go on beyond Mark Knopfler's work with Dire Straits, great as it is, to his solo performances, too. In fact, he's had more solo albums than Dire Straits albums ... and he's still such a good songwriter and storyteller. When I saw him in concert a few years ago, he was so generous: Played songs from virtually every album he had ever recorded.
