Here after the end of year 8. I suggested this for the sports day montage, and it got in! And to make it even better, my house won nearly every challenge! And got all 3 trophies I’ll miss this year, the lessons, the classes, the teachers & the TAs Looking forward to Year 9 :)

The Pom's had the greatest rock band's of all time. My dad and his team mates, used to play Dire Straits at the pub after games. I was 5, high on fire engine sodas and lovin these tunes. Im 46 now, gettin high on other things and lovin these tunes 👌

I've loved this one since I was little. For me it is about finding contentment and even joy in life after dogged perseverance you didn't think you'd live through. If anything recorded in the 20th century deserves to live beyond its day, this is one of those songs.

that period of time, mid 80's was really harsh and literally I almost died from my addictions to crystal meth and alcohol. This song came out when I needed a good one. I used to cry while listening because I missed my old life so much. I got clean and sober a while later and I've never looked back longingly to those days. So glad this song helped me choose life.

I'm a fair piece younger than you are, so my addiction-and-recovery song is newer (Aerosmith's "Amazing"; my sobriety date is 8/14/96 after spending eight years from age 11 to 19 addicted to Dexedrine-ironically, I wouldn't have graduated high school without it), but it's amazing the ability music has to touch the deepest parts of our souls. One day at a time, keep up the good fight, brother.

Lot of great comments about how this is a really happy and upbeat song. I agree on the whole, but I find the opening bit very melancholy to the extent of me being tearful thinking about what we no longer have. The rest of the song is indeed positive.
