Video or not, the audio was EXACTLY what I needed to hear. Taking on the challenge of bodybuilding lately has been much harder than it once was (strength wise) and I feel the main reason for that is because of a lagging core. I've always had a very defined 6 pack and small waist genetically so I always avoided training them, but improving my strength on compound lifts is the new focus when developing my new core routine. Just found this channel and wanted to comment showing my appreciation!

For videos with a cell phone camera it helps to turn 90°, otherwise big black bars. There is a sesame street style tutorial on this growing issue, but I do not know where.

Great content, just stop using portrait mode on your phone when filming. Landscape translates directly to wide screen.

Wouldn't you want to go a little bit higher on the reps considering the time under tension is so low on a short contraction like a crunch? Also, I have the same feeling about calves. The contraction is very short so the TUT is low for each rep so I would think a higher amount of reps would yield a better hypertrophic response?

If you're doing 3 sets between 5 and 15 reps, one two three times a week, then the sets would be 30 to 90 but not in one session, but over a week.

Larger body parts might need more. So abs, biceps, and triceps might be best left in the 30-40 range. -Berto

sometimes in a squat my quads, abductors and hammies feel so weak that in the hole my core can get the weight up but legs can't and it turns into a good morning. My core is great and my quads are pathetic. :(

I'm a novice and been doing a bulk, notice i can see a 4-6 pack when i flex *even though im in the mid teens in terms of body fat* so heavy compunds and maybe some heavy ab work...not worried about cutting unless i hit 25% body fat or hit a 225-250 bench.

30-40 range total for the workout or just the one exercise? like 30-40 reps for pushdowns and another 30-40 reps for extensions or like 20 reps each?? and how many sets of 30-40 reps per week... 7-14sets?

Do you believe it is effective for a body builder to train the abs everyday but localizing the abdominal area you train based on the day: rectus abdominus on one day and obliques on the other day? Do you believe this method of training could be followed if you adhere to the 1.5 - 3 times a week frequency paradigm?

With those with back pain but have under-developed abs, would you recommend training them in the functional way you describe(anti movements) or should you still train them using crunches, leg raises, etc.? Thanks!

He means 30-40 per entire workout session bro. However, i personally need to do much more than that. Play around with it and see what works best for you.

hahaha yeah I got the joke after I commented. I made a shit ton of homework, so my focus obviously wasn't there haha. But on a serious note: I was trying to get a point across. i know it's free but it's a pity that such good knowledge get's brought over in that way. Let me put it this way 3DMJ isn't making its self easier to get a bigger audience.

Curious as to why Eric is prescribing lifts such as a leg raise, when the iliopsoas is the prime mover, this will generally mess up peoples chronically shortened hip flexors already. Also, one has to think about anti flexion of the core, rather then doing a crunch where its possible unneeded spinal flexion is occuring.

i almost never isolate any muscles abs included. When i do train abs i try to do either planks or hanging leg raises because i feel like they are better on your whole body.
