He gave me a pen . Here give is a ditranatiive verb . If i write, He gave a pen to me. Then, is it also di transive verb? Does " me" is an indirect object of the verb ? Or "me" gonna be an object of a preposition? One website says that, its an obj of a preposition but one of my teachers says thats its a indirect obj.
Thank you so much!!!! And thanks for your explaination and examples⭐👍🏽 Just one thing...I am confuse about to or for whom. Nvm,I get it bc I restart or review again
Wonderful lesson ma'am. I'm a bit confused about the verb "cost". In a sentence like The book costs $20. Is 20 dollar here an object ??? Please correct me.
It is not common, but in rare cases a prepositional phrase could be classed as an indirect object. You are correct, though, that most teachers/grammarians will say that a PP cannot be an indirect object. Example: The officer gave a ticket to the speeding motorist. "To the speeding motorist" could be considered the indirect object, although some will just consider this a prepositional phrase, or object of the preposition.
