SIR!!!!! If I could give you a thousand likes I would. I have recently become obsessed with this project trying to get an idea when it will come to an end. I have launched my own research and was doing my best to envision whate every thing would look like at the end based on the blueprint NJ DOT has on the website. By and large I had it but there were a few things I did not understand. You explained it all PERFECTLY and now I see that I was struggling because certain roads have to be eliminated first before some of the detailed pathways can begin. I agree with you it is going to get a whole lot worse before it gets better and we are nowhere near the end of this thing. According to DOT phase 4 will only take 3 years which I now doubt highly based on what you have presented here. We are currently in phase 3 and there is plenty to go before they get that southbound connect finished. Again I thank you. I can't imagine how much time it took you to put this together but a sincere thank you from me to you.

Solid explanation, very nice video. As someone who travels this every day, makes sense. So glad the two missing moves are being added in.

7:05 Even if we had unanimous support from Bellmawr to build a full-blown cloverleaf, it would be less effective than what we have now because cloverleafs are subject to back-ups. A perfect example of this is what used to be the Woodbridge Cloverleaf (NJ-35 and US-1&9). 9:00 The reason why exit 26 is designed that way is because back then, they thought most of the I-295 traffic were gonna disperse to NJ-42 and I-76. If people didn't want to dump off onto NJ-42 and I-76, they would take the turnpike. But the truth is that tolls suck and nobody wants to pay for tolls. And also they didn't expect many trucks to take I-295 at the time.

"The Winchester House" of highway projects: ramps to nowhere, roads that don't connect to anything, and so on

Your current depiction of how 76E/42S goes into 295 S (20:10 timestamp) is slightly off, it's not off to the right, it actually goes up the middle, sharing that ramp with 295N that goes to 42N/76W

EDIT: Ugh we are both right. There are two paths for 295 south and I only called out the one. So you are correct as i missed one! Its actually a very important aspect (two current paths) that I shoudlve called out. next video! ha it has its own defined path that hugs the right along the new elevated construction that isnt in use yet. it splits for 42S and 295s off to the right (Although in the last week theyve been moving things around) goo.gl/maps/LmKgvCppwMMe4VzB9

Glad you turned comments on. I hate how channels like NJ-DOT (which of course has videos about this interchange) turn off comments for no reason.

Mark. I regularly enter 42 at 130 in Bellmawr towards Turnersville, and need to move over 5 lanes to access the ramp to 295 south. To say it's treacherous is an understatement. Worse at rush hour. I didn't see it addressed. Perhaps in your next video.

This is covered in the video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-p6xge4xOLl8.html. Coming off 130 you will now stay to the right, go onto the ramp that leads to 295 North which will split into a second ramp that will take you to 295 south.

When they built this road they had the ability to build it correctly but I'll bet it had to do with who owned the property coupled with the problem that I don't believe New Jersey road engineers don't drive. They stick to principles of road building roads but can't possibly think things out. Remember when we were told," by 1995 all circles will be gone", soin 2022 we have more circles and they are small in circumference , so tight that a tractor trailer goes up on edge. This sure makes traffic move better and faster - not! All of this in 9 yrs. Oh sorry maybe 20 yrs. Heck they didn't even complete 295 through the Capitol for 20 yrs.

Wait, a single lane from Philly to 295 So.? We used to have 3 lanes and that wasn't enough, now one. Great engineering.

Thanks for the info, but why is it that there is all this construction marked off all over the place and I only see 1 guy working with 4 other guys just standing around?

Oh and there are about 20 misc trucks and stuff all sitting there for months not moving. NOTHING IS GETTING DONE!

I comment in the video how there are so many dependencies "Cant do this until that other thing is done". So for Direct Connection there are a couple key issues. The Browning Road bridge rebuild started over a year late. Maybe two. They couldn't initially get the approval for additional space needed to build the temp bridge off to the side. Second is the wall collapsed. Its a full reengineering effort back to the start. They cant rebuild it the same way. So everything related/connected to that roadway is halted. that then keeps them from building any other more south components.

My question is, why is this taking so long.. I moved to Florida in 2009. They were starting this then. So know it’s 13 years later.. I’ve seen things built down here way more complicated then this and they are done. They built the Chesapeake bay bridge tunnel in two years.
@2000danlb
@2000danlb Год назад
One of the big things that delayed it was the Browning Road Bridge rebuild. The temporary Browning Road bridge was prefabricated and then pushed out over the highway. For whatever reason, there was not enough space allocated to do this, so an additional piece of land had to be taken from the cemetery. The process of acquiring this land took quite some time. Other parts of the project moved along but they all eventually reached a point where they could not continue until the Browning Road bridge is completed. That is where we are now. I am guessing the Browning Road bridge has at least another 18 months of work to go. The other thing that is making this project take so long is that they are completely rebuilding one of the busiest intersections in the area, and they cannot reduce the number of travel lanes during normal commuting hours. As mentioned in the video that has required the repeated building, shifting and rebuilding certain parts of the road. I believe the ramp from 42 north to 295 north has been moved at least 3 times already.

Funny you mention that Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. They are building a 2nd tunnel on the southern end to keep the roadway 2 lanes each direction. That one tunnel alone will take nearly 10 years to build - it started in 2017, and won't be finished until 2027!

You've done a great job with the last 2 videos of explaining all the projects that are happening now and in the future. You didn't talk about what's happening on N/S 295 in Westville. It looks like they are widening the bridge over the creek next to the landfill. Since they started the project, there has been a water problem in the area of N 295 to 42S work area, I was wondering did you look into that portion of the projects.
@roadnut
@roadnut Год назад
They are widening that bridge. Basically, it's going to be a 4th lane between Delsea Drive (Rt. 47) and the ramps for the new ramps between 295 & 42.

Ive always wondered with the al jos curve are they just gonna leave the road like it's not going to be in use but to save a couple bucks instead of paying people to mill it down and remove it just leave it and let nature take it away lol. Just a curious thought.

I'm not on this project, but a project I'm working on has a ramp demo and we are gonna turn it into a bioslope. Basically add greenery to the area.
