Direct Feed Tank Waste Vitrification at Hanford 

Ben Harp, Deputy Manager of the Department of Energy’s Office of River Protection and Alex Smith with the Washington Department of Ecology provided a briefing to the Hanford Communities on plans to get the Low Activity Waste (LAW) vitrification plant operational by 2011. The Pretreatment facility at the Waste Treatment Plant will not be operational by that time, so DOE is developing a tank-side cesium removal system (TSCR) to pretreat waste.
