Direct Primary Care (#DPC) is Paying for a Doctor via a Monthly Membership Fee. They Do NOT Bill Insurance.
There is No Fee or Copay for Each Office Visit and Visits are Unlimited.
Direct Primary Care Doctors Are Most Frequently Family Practice Physicians, but Internal Medicine and Pediatricians Can Also Have Direct Primary Care Practices.
The Average Direct Primary Care Practice Has a Panel of 345 Patients, with a Goal of About 600 Patients at Full Capacity. For Comparison, the Typical Fee-for-Service Primary Care Doctor Has a Patient Panel of 2,500.
57% of Direct Primary Care Practices Contract with Employers That Pay the Monthly Membership on the Employee's Behalf. Direct Primary Care is a Strategy to Increase the Quality of Care and Decrease Healthcare Costs for an Employee Health Plan.

It would be great to watch one of your videos on Direct Specialty Care as well since that's a very interesting segment in this space too. The DSC Alliance people seem to be doing great work there.

This was a very informative video. One question I would have is, why don't DPC's advertise for helping people with self improvement as well? It seems like it would go hand in hand, with their business model.

Good point. I imagine so do, but it is a good suggestion.

I have a DPC option near me that I'm considering on an individual/family basis. The cost is $89 per person + $55 per kid - per month - which runs us $377 per month. I also have a HDHP with an HSA. The trick is none of the DCP payments will apply to the deductible of the HDHP - if I can cover all my family's medical needs with the DPC, then I'm golden - but the moment I need something outside this group, I'm starting over (3k per person, 6k max family). I'm also considering going independent (self-employment) in the next few years and this paired with a catastrophic plan might be the way to go.

All good things to consider. Many others are in your shoes too.

@@ahealthcarez I'm going to give it a try. I only have my HDHP for 6 months and in that time I have a 3k per person or 6k family deductible before the plan pays a dime. I suppose I could use it as little as possible with it serving backup in case something goes very wrong. I still have my HSA for that too. Not sure what I will do for next year when (if) I convert to full time.
