I really liked this video. Super helpful and honest. I’m starting to get more professional shoots myself and I FEEL you on a lot of these woes and concerns in preproduction. Also, your channel is great! I just found it today and your videos are top notch!
Glad to hear you had some good experiences in the production of this, but astonished at the hurdles thrown at you by the BBC. These things cannot be conducive to quality content. Best of luck with future productions, love your videos.

Baller "I did say no to the second season" hard to do to say no to a tv job but I agree probably the right move considering how little they paid you for all this effort.
Wow, seeing your hard work butchered in post by poor edit and poor grade must have been heartbreaking. It always is for me. Having done this series do you aspire to make a move to narrative filmmaking or do you find yourself drawn to commercial work more at this point? I've been hoping to get into the narrative projects for a couple of years now but it falls through every time, either due to scheduling conflicts or producers' lack of trust to hire a DP with commercial/music video background only.
The reason you haven’t gotten in yet is the same reason I couldn’t clear my first and second choice DOPs for the series. They didn’t have enough narrative experience… which is always the case right. You haven’t done this thing already so we don’t trust you to do it a first time. It’s mad. I’m definitely keen to do more narrative work in the future but I’m not making any moves towards that at the moment. I’m just concentrating on making a decent living financially and trying to make slightly better work than the work I did yesterday where I can as I go. The decent living means commercial work - although from what I hear there are lots of crew making great day rates on long form productions at the moment at least here in the UK, on account of the demand for available of screen talent. I’m so far removed from that though at least for now.
