What I love in this performance is the fact that they are not trying to copy the original song, but they put their soul in this song.

This is the best cover by a quartet. No one has performed the opera section of the song better than forestella and that too live. Even Queen’s version had the opera piece recorded separately. It is true that Mark Martel has a voice closest to Freddie Mercury. But covers don’t have to have exact voice match. They need to make it sound nice without distorting the song. That’s what Forestella did. The arrangement was perfect utilizing the 4 members of the group.!

The bass (Woorim) and the tenor you liked (Mingyu) are professional opera singers. The guy on the right end, Doohoon, is a musical actor and the countertenor (Hyungho) has no formal musical background, he used to be a research chemist and an amateur rock singer :) These guys' specialty is twofold: incredible harmonies and putting their own twists on songs. they sing in whatever language you give them, from Spanish to English to Russian and even Zulu (yes, they did that). I like their covers precisely because they are not like the original song. They don't pretend to be the original artist. And they are always very respectful with the material they work with. They arrange the vocals themselves and get help from producers with the music interpretations (here not so much, but in other covers they completely twist the music around too). They were simply meant to sing together :) They practice a LOT. They have classical covers and fun stuff too, like their most recent performance of Despacito.

They dont have to sound the same like Queen because they arent! Forestella did theire own version and its great!

I have been a fan of Queen since before they were famous. Even they didn't do the middle section live. They played a video, and left the stage. Brian then brought them back onstage as the middle section video finished. I'm going to say it.... When Cho Mingyu sang.. "Mama just killed a man", it sounded just like a little boy telling his mum. For me, he edged that line from Freddie. 😳 I find Forestella's version the best apart from the impact Queen's version had when I first heard it. I love Freddie. He would have loved this, as he fully embraced Opera, dabbling in it himself. I'm a Ko WooRim fan, but this is Cho Mingyu's song. Just as "Je suis malade" is Bae Doo-Hoon's. 😭 "Hijo de La Luna" is Kang Hyung-Ho's, "Bad Romance" and "Shape of you" is Ko WooRim's. That is what they do so well, give them all the chance to shine.

The chat seems very confused, Forestella is not a acapella bad they're a fusion group of trained opera singers, a theater actor, and rock vocalist. Forestella is an amazing quartet, love them.

Creo personalmente que la versión de Forestella supera ampliamente a la de Queen en cuanto a interpretación, pero reconozco que nadie, salvo Freddy Mercury podría haber compuesto una pieza tan maravillosa como Bohemian Rhapsody. fyi for anyone wondering, forestella is not a kpop group, they are a classical crossover quartet. 2 opera singers a musical actor and a freak of nature with no professional training before joining the group! the one you pointed out is one of the opera singers.

Try their version of Bad Romance. One of them does a performance of Phantom of the Opera by himself

Mark Martel was the winner of a competition done by the remaining queen members to find a sound alike to Freddie Mercury for a new band they were creating. Mark Martel’s voice is so close to Freddys, that the remaining Queen members cannot sing with him, it is too hard for them. They ended up picking Adam Lambert as their lead man, and let Mark sing under a new band, “Queen tribute show”.

This group appeared on my suggestion page a few days ago. “Despacito” got me hooked on them. “Sweet Dreams” is really good as well. I’m not sure what happened, but many of my favorite BTS reactors are now reacting to Forestella. Great minds and all that 💜 They were formed when they participated in a singing contest. Didn’t know each other before. They won first place. I just spent an afternoon watching excerpts from the show: Phantom Singer 2 (season 2 - think of it like “The Voice” but the intent was to end up with a quartet.)

I hadn't seen this video yet, but my husband showed me this Forestella video a few days ago! I was getting goosebumps watching it, so happy you watched it too!!!

I still remember how I was like watching them perform this song. I was like, "how dare a never-heard group to challenge this masterpiece of Queen? Let me see how you ruin it..." and BAAAMMMMM! Their Bohemian Rhapsody blew me away and made me a huge fan. Forestella first sang their version of Bohemian Rhapsody in the KBS Immortal Songs which is a kind of remake competition music entertainment show. It made them known to the world, and later they put it in their 2nd album titled Mystique. They had concert tour under the title Mystique. This video was filmed at the Mystique encore concert, the last of the tour. I prefer their Immortal Songs video because we can see their acting in the performance there. Here it's too dark to see it well.. I recommend Forestella Queen's best songs compilation video on KBS Jeonju channel. There are 2 more Queen renditions in addition to the very first performed Bohemian Rhapsody by Forestella.

The chat wasn’t it 😔 Maybe I’m biased because I’m a fan of Forestella, but this is a cover! A cover! They’re not trying to mimic Queen, this is their own rendition, and I think they did fabulous! This is my favourite cover of this song. I love the bass singer… I don’t trust people who say they didn’t like this performance. Even if the cover wasn’t their cup of tea, no one can deny that the cover was amazing and was performed by extremely talented singers

For the cover, it is important to pay homage to the original song. However, I don't think it can be seen that it is sung the same as the original song. I don't know much about Freddy, but I think I'd rather have them do it in their own style than imitate him. Because he is not stubborn and seems flexible in his way of thinking. It's just my opinion though.

I’d like to recommend you a new crossover group from South Korea I discovered recently. It’s called “Forténa” with combination of four tenors(I’ve heard it’s the first crossover group with four tenors). One of the members is a very famous count tenor(His name is DQ Lee and played in lots of operas all over the world). When I heard their very much first cover song “Neaolis” and “Demain n’existe pas“ in a competition program, I had goosebumps everywhere. These guys are very talented, i think it was just the arrangement for me that thru off parts of the song, some parts where beautifully done and then there were where you had a stanza and then it would cut off to go to a different voice and i was like wth, that was a shock to jump from one octive to another
