Lot's of people have a problem with JH lyrics and I don't think JK and BH wasn't aware of how the lyrics would be received. So, I think there's a reason why they allowed them. But it's all guesses, let's see what happens. 😉

I don't think it's fair to ask people to stream something that makes them feel uncomfortable. At the end of the day, we listen to and support the music that we like, no one should be shamed for that. I'll still happily support JK by streaming the alternate version though

While I can see people can sometimes downplay other artists collabing with our favorites, I don’t think your statement is accurate. A great example is Namjoon with Indigo- every single artist he collaborated with was top tier. He even introduced new ones to some of us that are now part of our playlists. I think it’s simple as: sometimes we just don’t like something. Doesn’t mean I (personally) have made a judgement call against Harlow, I just thought his part could’ve been better. And I won’t really be able to make an educated decision about my own opinion until I learn more about him, his style, and his music.

@@louisedawnauthor6590 I think the reference to Asian women is the only thing that didn’t sit right (for me, at least). I’m not Asian, so I can’t really speak to how Asian women would feel about it; I can only take their word on that particular line of the song. As a woman though, I didn’t have a problem with the rest of it. While it was crass, he was speaking in past tense, as though he was saying that that’s how he used to act. He used objectifying language to make a point about how he used to objectify women. I thought of it as a sort of literary device. I think he meant for it to sound the way it did to help make his point and to highlight how different things are now that he found someone that made him abandon that lifestyle. The delivery may have been clunky, but I don’t think the overall message was malicious. I think it was supposed to be alluding to his past habits versus his present ones.

But even still, the girl he’s talking about in the present tense is a girl that he’s implying some level of devotion for and not one that he’s using for cheap thrills. Saying he’ll do anything just to see her in person, and she doesn’t even have to give him anything in return (“and you ain’t gotta guarantee me nothing”). Again, I agree that the ABG line was a clumsy choice. I think the reference of “flying from Korea to Kentucky” was just him trying to make a reference to Korea because JK is Korean. Not saying it was the right choice, but that could have been all it was. I appreciate hearing another perspective on the lyrics! It’s interesting to hear other ideas on them. Like I said in my first comment, the lyrics were a bit 😳😳 to me at first, too, so I see where people are coming from. I just thought I’d offer a different perspective and how I interpreted them after I had a moment to let them marinate.

No-one misunderstood. They made it clear in the MV. It ain't that deep.

Like I said, I was just offering my perspective. If it differs from yours, that’s fine. It doesn’t necessarily make your perspective invalid. It doesn’t make mine invalid either. Not saying I’m right, just saying what I thought. I’ve made a conscious effort to not to be dismissive of other opinions when presented to me, and I have accepted that there are parts of the lyrics that maybe weren’t smart choices. I don’t see anything wrong with discourse and sharing thoughts and opinions. Attempting to shut someone down like you did in your comment doesn’t do a whole lot to foster that. Army is made of all kinds of people with all kinds of ideas and perspectives. I’d like to think that those perspectives are allowed to be shared without fear of basically being told to stuff it. But if not, then I’ll just keep my mouth shut next time.
