Nice reaction! Chinchilla (real name Daisy Bertenshaw) is a 27 year old UK singer/songwriter from London. Ren calls her his musical sibling. Not to be confused with the heavy metal band (active since 1988) from Germany with the same name.

First time viewer of your channel, but long time Ren fan. I believe you would enjoy much of his work. Just pick any video, and I can almost guarantee you won’t be disappointed. Ren is an artist in every sense of the word, and unlike anything this planet has seen before, imo. A once in a generation talent. He has a way of captivating his audience, and often leaves you wanting more. Some of his videos you could watch 100 times and not catch every detail he puts in. Be sure to have a box of tissues handy for some of his work. There will be tears, if you have a soul. His constant message of unity, and his willingness to talk about mental health issues is so desperately needed, and, as evidenced by his meteoric rise, sought after. His “Hi Ren” video put him on the radar of many, though he’s been around for years prior. It’s a one take live video, using 3 cameras, which took 4 or 5 takes to get one he liked. The only edit was between him putting his guitar down and the spoken word piece he does at the end. It’s a performance piece more than it is a music video, and could be a short broadway play. I believe everyone, particularly creative types, should see this video at least once. His “Tale of Jenny and Screech (full)” is a trilogy, but has to be done in a certain order, which is why I put “(full)”. Be sure to choose the full version which is available on his channel. If you post Ren reaction videos, many of us “Renegades” will show up. If you want to learn more about Ren, he’s done interviews with Justin Hawkins, Knox Hill, Rosalie Reacts, and Black Pegasus. His life journey, and the obstacles he’s faced, are an inspiration for all.

As a director you should really react to Ren's tales of Jenny and Screech, full version, a trilogy. You need to see all three to get the full story. He sings, plays guitar, walks around hallways and back alleys while telling and acting out a tragic story of violence, abuse, and intergenerational trauma. Like nothing out there!! Bardcore as he calls it. It showcases his incredible guitar talent and lyric mastery. He is a true generational talent!

Ren is the king of one shot live videos. Most of his videos are filmed this way. Kind of like his trademark which makes what you watch always that bit more impressive. If you've not seen Hi Ren or the Trilogy (The tales of Jenny and Screech, which includes the tale of Violet too) then I suggest those next. The trilogy must be done in that order and all at once for full effect and as a director you may appreciate this more as you'll find you will feel as if you've watched a complete film by the end of those 13mins or so. Ren, you'll find is a master storyteller, actor, musician and singer among other things.

Wow! Welcome to the rabbit hole of Ren and Chinchilla. Ren is a Welsh artist living in Brighton, England. He’s got an amazing story and is a once in a generation artist. Like everyone else here, I’d probably start with Hi Ren, then check out the Jenny / Screech / Violet trilogy. Chinchilla is a British, London Based artist, and she is amazing. Highly recommend “Fingers -live version”, then “Little girl gone”, but start with the official video then watch the live version. You won’t be disappointed with anything either of these artists has in their arsenal. 🙂

Sir you have not seen anything yet…the camera work in Hi Ren is stunning. Not to mention the musical/lyrical/performance of the piece. It is performance art at its finest.

Hi Ren then the Trilogy - The Tales of Jenny and Screech - full (must be full) and then any Ren you want really. Ren is worth a look. Hi Ren is 1 shot (4 takes). Jenny Screech is a trilogy so each is it's own 1 take. He also does "For Joe" which makes me cry every time I watch it. (1 take). Ren loves the 1 take and he is a master at doing it well (with limited or no funding).

You are 100% correct. It is live and done in one shot. Most of RENs videos are live and done in one shot. They call themselves “ musical siblings “ which explains the connection and trust between them , not to mention the blood harmonies. Ren directs all of his videos and they are shot mostly by Samuel Perry Falvey but also by Luke Flagg. Chinchilla ( ne Daisy Berkenshaw) is a great vocalist in her own right.BOTH ARE 100% INDEPENDENT ARTISTS. They do another phenomenal duet How To Be Me. Just found your channel and as a former Actor/'Director I'd like to recommend you react to Ren's Trilogy "The Tale of Jenny & Screech" (full version) running time approx 13min. These 3 story's are all 3 live one shot with with only 1 camera, 1 lavalier mic, 1 acoustic/electric guitar plugged into a wireless transmitter under his jacket & captivating AF. The other is just as wonderful, if not more so, it's "Hi Ren". Also it's all one shot live performance as well but with multiple camera's. 3 stationary 1 hand held and Ren's acting skill's are on full display along with his musical skills. According to an Interview Ren gave not too long ago It took them 4 times to nail it, and this is actually the 4th take you're watching. It truly is a MUST SEE performance, I've referred to it as the Bohemian Rhapsody of this generation.

The two do a duet, How To Be Me, that will blow you away. If you have not seen, HI REN you need to start there.

Ren and Chinchilla consider themselves musical siblings. Their vocals just melt into each other. 🤩 She's now an independent artist and performer also from Brittain (not sure about this Iceland / Berlin stuff). Nice reaction! Your comments will be flooded with the proper recommendations for both, so I spare you mine for the videos :-) Ren has a large catalog spanning almost 20 years (he started as a teen) ...HOWEVER, two of Chinchilla's EPs ( "Moon Maintenance For Dummies" and "Awakening" both with brilliant tracks) are not listed on her own channel and are audio only (except one song iirc), presumably due to her former management, but via RU-vid's "chinchilla music topic". (never mind her stiletto nails: she only puts them on for the performance)

I am excited to see you explore more of Ren, Chinchilla, and all the others along the way… once you start listening to him and his circle of creative friends you can stop. Their realness resonates more than anyone I have seen in a long time.

If you're not up for "Hi Ren" yet watch "Murderer", 1-shot, 1 camera man with a gimble and a great song. Then watch "Money Game" for another powerful live performance. After that, "Sick Boi" to warm you up for "Hi Ren" but there's also the trilogy of Jenny, Screech & Violet's stories if you're not quite ready for that. You'll want to take a break before watching "Su!clde" and only after that you'll understand "For Joe" and "How To Be Me" with that last one featuring Chinchilla again. There's so much more from this genius. I'm currently reevaluating my life choices after experiencing Ren's content over the last few days.

Ren has so many one-shot videos. Not all of them have live audio, but they're all amazing. See how complex the one-shot video for Animal Flow is, or Murderer. Tales of Jenny and Screech are great examples of one-shots with live audio, just Ren walking, playing guitar, singing and acting.

Pretty much everything Ren does is AMAZING. THIS WAS A GREAT reaction.

They make a perfect singing duo. She had a record deal but then covid hit etc and it feel apart. She’s now a contestant on the UK version of the voice. She’s amazing. Ren is amazing and has such a difficult back story with his childhood friend, his illness and being an independent artist. He can rap, sing, tell a story, poetry. He’s very talented.

I really love your comment about using one camera with a microphone. It made me take another view of the video to see that. As other reviewers have wondered about Chinchilla's health, I don't think you have to be in a similar situation (say, Ren's physical and mental health due to misdiagnosed Lyme Disease and medications he was prescribed that made him sicker) to inhabit a character that makes the audience believe the artists are both ill. Chinchilla is amazing and about 10 yrs younger than Ren. He taught her how to busk but she's has had amazing success and, as one comment made earlier, she is from Britain. I think she was the opening singer (virtually?) for Sting. She has stated that the fingernails help her with taking away focus solely on her (anxiety?)...a distraction. This video and song are one of my favorites of Ren's. Also, as Ren often does, there's more than one meaning of "Chalk Outlines"....if you look at the song's cover artwork, it looks like chalk on a blackboard and it's the chemical formula for Seratonin. I was very interested to hear your feedback and I would listen to more of your reactions.

LMAO!! If you're impressed w/ this one shot you're in for a lot!! He's king of the single shot videos and often records the audio during that shot. "Tale of Jenny and Screech" (do the full 3-part version) and "Money Game Part 3" are two fantastic examples.

Ren considers the videos the second part of writing a song. He often does them live, and often does them as one camera one-takes (usually with videographer/DP Samuel Perry-Falvey). I'd say their best are probably "Hi Ren" (live one-take with multiple cameras), "The Tales of Jenny and Screech" (watch the FULL version which is 3 separate one shots put together), "Money Game part 1", "Animal Flow" and "Genesis." Chinchilla is British, based in London. Ren & Chinchilla are like musical siblings. I've not heard her having a similar experience to Ren.

Ren is what we call a "Busker" in the UK. Buskers use the streets as their stage. He is used to playing from start to end and getting it right or jamming it when the feeling is right. The locations in many of Rens videos are chosen both for the visual ambience but also for the acoustics. Videos like the "Tale of Jenny and Screech", follow Ren though various locations indoors and out (again in 1 take live recordings), making moody use of the existing lighting and settings.

Yet another masterpiece composition from Ren! 🙂

RENs mum is a singing teacher and one of the videos on her RU-vid channel shows her singing in a mausoleum…I think Ren has been taught from an early age about acoustics of buildings… Chinchilla is basically the female counterpart to Ren… they are young and Yang… she’s the female version of Ren… he sees Chinchilla as a sister but they’re connection is amazing…

Excellent reaction! I know someone else suggested "How to Be Me (Live)" by Ren and Chinchilla, but I'm gonna say it again: It's INTENSE, it's heartwrenching, and watching them stare at each other and emote such pain always makes me tear up a little.
