The reason you watch your favorite television shows over and over again is because they are good! I personally like the fact that older videos get re-released on this channel due to the fact that they are enjoyable to watch and kind of get forgotten down in the video feed. Thank you Jimmy!

I helped build an Ice Camp up in the arctic while I was in the Navy. This was a great flash back to that. We made most of the structures using modular panels. We had 4 types; floors, walls, ceilings, and doors. They were all basically the same construction of 4x8 plywood sandwiching insulation with the plywood off set in specific ways for the floors, wall/doors, and ceilings. The only problems I had was that the cheap hammers that we had kept breaking, something to do with the -40F temps I think... But after setting up the foundation and getting it flat, a 3-4 man team could put up a hut pretty quickly.

I sawed all the lumber and built my wife a house for her 4 hives. The house also helps to keep the temperature of the hives more consistent from day to night .
This was the very first video of yours I watched. A friend shared it on my FAcebook with the heading saying " You will like this guy " and I have been following you since.
For the repost Jimmy it would have been great if you could of added in a few minutes of video for the current status of the bee house. I would love to see the inside full of thriving hives. Perhaps something to keep in mind for future reposted videos.

The "z" brace on the door framing is NOT backwards. Think of it as a chord in tension tying the lower outside corner of the panel to the upper corner hinge side A non ridgid gate, let's say, will tend to sagging down away from the hinge side. This is why gates eventually scrape when swung. Large gates of cyclone fence utilize a thin rod or cable in this way sometimes over 10' feet in length My 10th grade geometry teacher demonstrated it like this... Stand an ordinary yardstick on end and push down with the palm of your hand... it folds as easily as a lawn chair after Labor Day. Now afix one end and try to pull it... can't do it. That 3/8 x 2 piece of pine can carry an incredible load in this way It was a real AhHa moment for my 14 y.o. brain Since then I always thought of this brace carrying the load of the corner and hanging it off the the top hinge... which is firmly affixed to the jamb. And whenever I see a properly braced gate or batten door my eye instinctively traces the path of the load finding it Oddly Satisfying And in the case of where it's wrong... I suffer a brain fart
Remember this project. Nice to see the wrapup like this. Nice editing and production. Like to see a visit to that bee house after it's in production. 2x4 fine for flooring on a bee house. Not like you gonna have 50 person parties in there. ;)
You know I think you do a great job of making these timeless. How ever I would think about changing the warning in the title from OLD VIDEO to something like TIMELESS CLASSIC.... just a thought .. I'm full of ideas.
Ya gota go back and re visit once they have the bees in there, the sound will bee beautiful! (pun intended!) I had an old shed with a hive in the wall the sound and the smell was magic.
I can't help but wonder how the wood fared in the elements since this was built as I would think freshly cut lumber is more likely to shift and crack as it dries?
