I believe it’s “pipe bang” that’s happening from the research I’ve done. It’s too rich down low at about 1/4 throttle you can here how dirty sounding it is. It’s got JD jetting specs in it right now and it still needs work. I’ve seen others have this problem on forums. I’m just happy it’s not fowling plugs anymore. Lol I still got some ideas I’m gonna try before I give up on the Mikuni like everyone says to do.

@@HighSidedFilmstoo rich causes it also? I always thought the popping/ pinging was either too lean or some other sort of spark knock/detonation. It’s not some sort of detonation? 🤷🏼‍♂️

Yes Pipe bang is basically the opposite of lean detonation. I didn’t even know it was a thing til I got this bike and someone told me about it then I researched it to be honest. It will start cold without choke, barely idles with the idle all the way up, and the air screw has to leaned out way more than factory just so it won’t load up. Pilot seems too big in my opinion with not wanting to idle then also wanting to load up. I’m gonna try a 30 pilot (32.5 is in now) and go back to the factory 2 turns on the air screw. Last ditch effort will be swapping the richer 4.0 slide out for a 5.5. I also hate jetting lol too tedious.
