Dirt Rally 2.0 / Group B / VR & Motion / Scary Experience

I've been dialing in the visual settings, ffb and the motion profile for dirt rally 2.0 for the past couple of days. The game never felt right, until now. Its an amazing experience in VR with motion. The video was recorded with OBS (left eye). Even though the recording looks choppy at times, the game runs at a solid 90fps.

This game laughed at me when I tried getting it to run smooth in VR on my 1060 ti 6gb. Oh well, Dirt rally 1 has my back for now. At least in the medium/lowish setting lol.

I run this game in VR no problem using a Quest (72hz) and a 1070, might want to hit up ebay the 1070s are cheap nowadays.

I've been playing it in VR on a 1050 ti at the lowest possible settings. It still locks to my rift S 80fps though

Nice rig! I got a CV1 a few years ago and loved using it. I did not have a motion platform back then, but now I do. I went ahead a built mine (it's a 2DOF + Traction loss) Back to the VR part, for some reason Oculus software wont recognize the headset! Damn frustrating.. I opened it ticket with them.. In any case, I just downloaded the Dirt Rally 2 and the motion plug in.. That drive is absolutely terrifying! Cant wait to get my VR going again with the Rig.. Good job and thanks for posting! DMax

FFB took a while for me too, but it's really just about understanding what each setting does, which simply isn't explained well at all.

@@hi3267 wayyy off. His VR headset and GPU alone would put it over $2000. You'd be lucky to even find a motion rig at $2000. Factor in the rest of the PC, and all the sim stuff (wheel, pedals, shifter, etc) and it adds up quick.

Wow. This looks and runs great. I have never been able to have a smooth 90fps. I am running 3950X with 2080super. I guess I need some video settings tuning and should be able to run it much smoother. Do you mind sharing your settings?

Thanks for the comment! The game game runs great and it looks pretty good too on my current setup. I did have some weird stutters at first, but after reinstalling the game, they went away. Also, while the clarity is great, the game does still have issues with AA; it's definitely not a deal breaker though. I'll do my best to get the settings video up.

@@TheFlysly54 yea, I know what you mean with AA. Especially noticable in all of the foliage. Do you usually target high framerate without reprojection and motion smoothing kicking in?

Nice rig and setup. May I ask how your recorded your gameplay? Dirt Rally 2.0 seems to be a pain with the default goggle view. Oculusmirror is 50/50 whether it can be captured in OBS, and SteamVR with the OpenVR plugin is so choppy that is horrendous.

OBS is what I used i this video. I dont usually have a lot of success using OBS, but this vid turn out alright.

How much FFB do you have going thru the Accuforce ? I wanted to get a DOF set up but i thought the wheel mount looked like it wouldn't hold up to a DD setup. Has it held up pretty good ?

Unrealistic motion. Why? Have you dialed it down on purpose? The car is bouncing all over the place in the video, but your seat/rig is barely moving.

I don't have a motion rig, just vibration actuators. When I set them up to feel realistic vibration, it feels like its too much. Might sound like a good idea, but I don't want to feel like I'm inside a group b car in my living room, so stressful. Toned down somehow feels better. I think because you are not in the real thing and you know it, it feels exaggerated. Its subjective too, like in real life some drivers prefer a softer or harder suspension.
