This was one the most dirty cars ever that we have cleaned. This was also its first wash in years. Watch this disaster detail as a Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 30 gets transformed with a full exterior detail removing all the disgusting grime, mould and mud (not quite a biohazard though!) The end results are very satisfying!!! We almost abandoned all hope we could bring this back but the decontamination, wet sanding and machine polishing really restored the cars finish well.

Notes (thanks for watching as always and I do read the comments just cant always reply to all of them): a) yes in ideal world we could get the PDR guys timing perfect before we start paint correction but its not always possible so we have to do some tidying up. b) front headlights are being replaced with brand new Xenons so we didnt do much work on the old ones at customers request (it would be pointless) c) this was a 2 day detail essentially (had the car for longer but other work was booked in) d) if your serious about having work done please contact freshlayers for quotes. The quote for this job is private between the company and client. e) This was an exterior detail. inside got just quick a quick vacuum as a matter of courtesy. f) we had a blast making this its important to say we dont deliver perfection but we are very proud of how well the car came out within the time constraints g) You are welcome to direct personal insults at me. But if you make any form of insults about anyone else appearing in this video you are HIGHLY likely to be banned rapidly. h) remember you are watching a video that is heavily edited to flow quickly as we cant show you all of it.

My thoughts and hopes precisely. Anyone who neglects a car so much allowing it to get to that state doesn't inspire a lot of confidence though. Some countries like Portugal are quite rightly starting to fail very dirty cars on MOT. The Golf should have failed years ago for the perished tyre alone. It didn't get to that state overnight.

Can’t speak for the exact costs, would be great if they’re able / willing to share but from their website it says the “Supreme” 5 year durability coating plus; wash, decontamination, paint correction etc is £650 (~$900). But I’m assuming that wouldn’t include the alloy repairs.

Helped my friend with his old car he wanted to sell but no one was biting on the add. So we took a weekend and cleaned it good. Rented a carpet cleaner, polish the car heated the black plastic trim, and gave them some plastic restorer and protecting and topped the paint with a good wax. The engine bay was wiped down and was looking clean but not overly clean and non of this Shine make-up. He put the car up for sell after a week and 2days after he sold it for at bit more. He was so happy, not because he made a little more money. But because he actually found it pleasing to clean and polish his car and it was easy'er than he thought.

Beautiful... the only thing I would change... I would expect PDR to be done before the polish. Maybe it is not shown, but usually, after PDR there very small imperfections left which usually require polishing as well. Apart from that not much else to say - great work!

I love 💕 my old VW GOLF SPORT it’s getting on in years I have had it from new looked after but it needs a face lift on out side you are very welcome to do my car and film it I am disabled now and wouldn’t no were to start with this much detail I want it to look new again as won’t be buying another car again this is it till I cannot drive

I'm late to the party but will stick this up anyway... Fellow MK5 golf owners pull back arch liners and dig out the compost building up on the sill caps. My car was this dirty and I was surprised by how much was behind there!

That right there is stunning. I've seen Freshlayers Merc 190 restoration video, but this future classic resto betters it IMHO. The sheer quantity of defects, & level of neglect is shocking. Brilliant end result & fantastic content 👍. PS: That new guy in the beige cap is quite handy with a DA too 😂

I love renovating cars, but recently I had a look at my gf's B7 passat (11 years old now) and I myself, drive a mk4 golf. My golf has been taken care of like a baby, nearly no rust after 20 years, recently renovated the exterior, the engine bay is clean like a baby's face. Now her passat B7 has so much rust, that the supportarms won't live another 5 years (is my bet). It's sad to see people buy cars and not even get them treated against rust, it greatly extends the life of the car. You can renovate plastic interior. Put on new wheels, change the turbo. But you can't unrust the entire chassis.

What do you guys use to clean the Slippy (the solution that lubes the claybar) before going in with the compound? Do you wash or rinse again the entire car as a step before going for paint correction? Thanks

just use ONR as clay lube mate. you dont want to be adding slippy material prior to polishing really a good clay lube should wipe off the surface with a amicrofiber towel or be free rinsing.

my golf is heading the way as this I have dents and scratches all over in 5 years it will be very similar condition, this is just what happens to family cars. and this is why detailing is so cool it can bring things back.

hey jonny this was a 2 day detail (kind of although car was there all week and other bits were done, but bulk of work done in 2 days) hard to say man hours because sometimes there was 3-4 doing stuff, plus PDR guy and alloy wheels and caliper paint.. filming does also slow things down a lot. I dont know the cost but please contact freshlayers for any quotes if you want work done.
