We definitely have to check out dirty diamond acres! We enjoy seeing your happiness and hearing your passion for finding the crystals on your trip. You can tell its genuine and that you love doing this! That crystal at 11 minutes being revealed is bad ass lol I love seeing the facet starting t show and as you clear away dirt it gets bigger and comes into view. Glad you had a good trip and great video!

Dude this looks amazing. Wasn’t able to get there this year but the spring definitely. Next time you’re in NY let me know I’ll take you to a cool spot close to the herkimer mines to get some travertine.

I was also debating Mohawk. Who has personal experience between the two? I thought Mohawk was fairly new enough to still find a lot of crystals?

It was $250 and 4 hrs - keep everything I find. Since I came such a long ways and the finds were excellend, I didnt mind. Digging into virgin pockets was awesome

It was $250 for 4 hours. I will be back late April assuming they are open by then - I am sure. It was a 10. Even of I dont find quite as much or as nice the next time, I am sure I will find something. Whooo Hooo

Why do they look like the old cracked glass art? It seems their crystals appear more fragile and didn't see a lot of the clear water crystals from other mines.

I have found water clear, milky and smoky at that site. often combos too. that region date back to almost 500 million years ago for formation. so all those years of freezing and thawing ( and moisture getting in) causes they to burst over time. hence the beautiful fractures and glass art look. especially when the iron seeps inside over time and gets locked in.

Looks like a great place to spend a day or a week. If you guys go back next year, I may try to join you! Haven't been Herk-hunting yet. One thing is for certain, April obviously has a knack for finding the pockets that produce the monsters! I think she won this round!

I agree. She got the Gold medal this time. While I got some good quality ... I was not hitting the golden healers in the pockets. We are planning late April next year. Its almost a sure thing.
