This is awful. I worked at a place that had soft serve, and we all went to great lengths to clean it every night. When you feed people you have a great responsibility to them. This makes me so mad.

Thank you for not just showing the bad results. Providing positive feedback is just as, if not more important than shaming the wrong.

When I was a kid in the early sixties, we had 5 Mr Softee trucks. All the icecream was emptied out and the machines dis-assembled. They got cleaned with bleach every night as soon as the drivers got back to the warehouse. You didn't put them back together until the next day when everything was dry. Our father never got home before midnight and usually later.

When I was a wee bit in NYC, my mum refused to let me eat from ice cream trucks. Back then I was very upset, but now I understand why.

This is a real eye opener. The ice cream operator handles dirty money and ice cream. And no hands are being washed.

I worked at a pest control company and the owner doubled as a health inspector for the county. He once caught a waiter taking a half consumed Margarita off a dirty table and dumping back into the Margarita dispenser. If that wasn't bad enough, the guy rolled up his sleeve and stirred the batch with his arm.

People have to understand the carts and trucks all over New York may be less expensive than brick and mortar stores (in some cases they have the same prices as brick and mortar stores), but they're SO DIRTY compared to stores. They don't get inspected as restaurants do, and they're mobile so they can just disappear to any corner of the city they want. People won't catch me dead buying something from these food trucks and corner carts...

I once got a tequila shot from an ice cream truck. My brother told me later... how many people took a shot out that glass...I didn't see him wipe it before or after you drinked it. I never took a shot again or bought ice cream. Still get the nachos.

I hate to break it to people, but every time you eat out, you are taking a chance. If the consumer knew even half that goes on with our food from restaurants etc., lots of people would stop eating out. On other hand, most people know, and still eat out on a regular basis.

This is why I never bought my children ice cream from these trucks! When I was little me and my aunt saw an ice cream man take a piss in the alley and get back in the truck and didn't wash his hands. Needless to say I never ate ice cream from a truck again!!
