I think the notion about Aron writing the bass lines for Henrik is from an interview Steve O G did with Henrik. Henrik is asked about the rhythm that slap bass and pluck adds to his bass lines (specifically in the song "Follow the light") and whether they are improvised. Henrik answers: "Not at all - it's also Aron who writes a lot of the bass parts, so I have to give him credit. He sits at the computer and that's why they are so weird because it's a drummer writing slap bass parts so... And it's very often like "I want it to be played exactly like that this" and then he's like "yeah this is really hard and yeah figure it out" - yeah okay..."
Yeah, it’s tricky to wrap your head around how exactly they write their tunes and their individual part. It’s a lot of sending ideas and recorded files fourth and back, often working in various combinations of two guys together, then swapping. Henrik’s, in an older interview, said that often he plays and records his bass lines after Aron and Jonah have recorded theirs, and he tries to make them fit into, and support the music. He even mentioned trying ‘fake’ counterpoint lines (as well as wanting to learn more about counterpoint, to ‘up’ his game as a bass player :) As some have said, he’s a genius enough bassist to do his own lines, but still, Aron often writes bass line ideas out for him on an ancient Logic program, on an even more ancient device, and might insist that Henrik makes them possible, somehow. He more than once referred to all this making his role as bassist with Dirty Loops ‘unique’. ☺️
If you ever get a chance to watch the video again, you may notice Henrik in the background lying on a mattress while Aron is drumming. Very subtle but hilarious if you can catch it.
Regarding Aron and writing music, he and a friend have written some orchestral pieces. You should do a reaction on "MEGA MARCH" That's a beautiful piece with symphony orchestra and Electric guitar.
About the writing of bass parts: I’m pretty sure it has to do with songwriting. These guys fully arrange the stuff they write, and so that’s why a song primarily written by Aron would have bass lines that he’s very wedded to. I have a hard time believing anyone decides what the others play unless he has the songwriter hat on. And that hat moves between the three guys.
Its happy Loops Tuesday - I'm totally fine in whatever order the songs comes. Thanks Melli & thanks for keeping on doing your Dirty loops reactions! 💚✌️
Another LOOPS reaction!! Always a pleasure listening to them with you! The audio/visual synch on this is a bit off, but the 'official version' is off too. It's hard to come up with "new" remarks about these guys! ALWAYS amazing! The drum fills on this stand out to me. As usual, great reaction!
Hey there, thank you so much!!! Just for clarification, was OUR audio off, or the Dirty Loops video (that we play inside the little square)? I'm going to rewatch right now!!! Thanks for the heads up on this...
@@musikbyjh The "un-synch' (is that a word?) was there on your feed through AND on the original "official" version. I honestly don't know if it's "real" or if it's just my net connection. I have noticed the lag on other Dirty Loops numbers, and on different reactors (as well as their official versions). Maybe I'm just strange. 😆
Happy DL day! Thank you again Melli for this tune! Perfect choice. So looking forward to what you will chose next. Thank you Jeremy & Jillian for the fun and awesome reactions. #lottalove
This band is a miracle in several ways: how many chances to find musicians that level? How many chances they meet? How many chances they speak the same music? I mean their musical connection is pure alchemy. The rest is history. Master Quincy couldn't miss them.
Thanks, friends, for another great Dirty Loops reaction video 🙏 Yeah, as others say, this vid wasn’t shot live, although it has a mega live feel to it at times. Henrik’s amp ‘holding a press conference’ 😉, and him chilling on the couch whilst Aron is playing his mindblowing fills, -just a few moments of them goofing around and having some fun, after what surely would’ve been a long and arduous writing and recording process. With Aron: I’ll never get tired to listen to his tight and powerful playing, and how he drives and shapes their pieces. Insane drummer-. The Dirty Diana reference holds - and even at that very beginning, that reverbed hum at the start, it’s there. (Divine vocal layers by Jonah ⭐️) I’m glad you went back to listen to that start again :) Jillian, you mentioned that Henrik’s solo felt ‘tame’ at first, and I agree, it’s very different to his often mind numbing slapping and shredding style, quite lyrical actually. Love it, absolutely. He’s playing multiple melody lines going in different directions simultaneously, and for a while it feels like being suspended in outer space, -weightless. He’s such a diverse player and can nail any style. His jazz chops, too, are out of this world. One request, for when you’re done with Melli’s list: Dirty Loops cover of Christina Aguilera’s song “Dirty”. Henrik takes a solo in there which COMPLETELY blows my house off the block! So many great songs by these guys! 🔥🔥🔥 Great, eye opening reaction by you both! 👍👍 And thanks again, Milli!! You’re the best 🫶
In an early interview they commented that when they get together to write a song, they bring pen and paper - no instruments. So... (this is a real question, not being sarcastic) how is it different for Aron to write bass parts than for someone to compose all of the parts of a symphony? Henrik said in one of his recent interviews that he didn't know how to play what Aron had written, and Aron just shrugged him off, told him not to change anything and go figure it out. (I think this was after Run Away came out). As a composer I think you can know what you want to hear without knowing how to play the instrument. But I'm just being logical here, I don't know.
It's not quite that simple though. What's relatively trivial on one instrument can be virtually impossible to play on another, depending on the construction of the instrument. With string instruments, things like the pitch of the strings matter, as they vary between instruments (both in the absolute pitch and in intervals between strings), and it can make things really difficult to pull off, when that's not taken into consideration while writing the parts. As a french horn player, if someone gave me a part with a lot of fast and large jumps up and down, that would be horribly difficult to pull off, while a bassoonist might find it not so hard. So composers do need a lot of instrument knowledge to write music that works well, and in this case, I think Henrik has to do a lot of work to figure out how to play some of the parts Aron writes. :D
11 minutes to first notice Henrils microphones and speaker!? DUDE!? WTH!? That's a joke on Henriks part. He always go bigger with his speakers in each video as a joke and I think he got a comment on that so he switched and went small instead 😂😂 Something like that... anyhuu... As always great reaction Be safe
Your amazement speaks volumes when you listen to DL and that puts a smile on my face. Thank you for that. I am very happy that more and more people enjoy DL. The first live concert in 2010 in Amsterdam was half crowded and now you have to fight for tickets. This year it was my fifth time i saw them live and they are getting better every time. The only thing they have to skip is when Jonah start to dance. 🙂 People always ask if the are playing live the same as in the studio. The studio versions are not live but pieces of live recordings that have been stitched together. They also use portions of studio recordings that they use when they perform live with an additional keyboard player providing this. Scratching is an example of this and also the gospel choirs that they implemented when they are playing live. By the way, scratching that you hear just comes from a keyboard. See the interview with Rick Beato where they share some pieces of it.
I like them all, but this was fun! Lots of music, less singing. I always like when you go back to show us what you caught. Thanks Melli!!! I had a good time, J & J, and my day just got better 😁 Catch y’all for Warning Wednesday!!! 🎶 Cyd
Just saying A-F-G is like the most typical chord sequence ever behind solos, and Dirty Diana has a different phrasing. I understand why that would be the reference to guess for Dirty Loops, though. :-)
Those mics on the bass amp are only there for laughs. They don't record with them like that. In other DL videos Henrik is seen in front of a wall of EBS amps. They decided to make fun of that by doing almost the opposite: one little EBS amp with lots of mics.
I seem to recall there were comments about the giant cabinet wall which was not mic'd in the videos of the previous shoot. I'm pretty sure Henrik's cab and mic setup was a response to that.
Oh no, REEBBBBBEECCCCCAAA has COVID?! So sorry to hear this friend, and please take it easy!!! Recovery is no joke and we send all our healing vibes to you!!
Between the 2-toed albino raccoon DJ and Dirty Diana, I was even more entertained than usual by this reaction. And I was wondering how long it would take you to notice Henrik's mics 🤣
Love your Dirty loops comments. Rabbit hole - I know - but the best ride since Alice in Wonderland. By the way - this is not live - they are just fooling us. But they do this song live - which is just crazy.
So suddenly it's not a Dirty Loops reaction, but more of "this reminds me of dirty diana thing". Well... how hell can we avoid this thing, since we only have 12 different tones to chose from. 😮
Yes, this is of course a joke in contrast to the heavily overboard wall of speakers from the first videos in the series, such as in "Rock You", "Work Shit Out" or "Next To You".
WHA…WHA…WHO….Who IS this??? WOW! This just popped into my feed cuz I’ve listened to a bunch of Warning reviews you’ve done…and…OMG I LOVE THIS!!! Thanks Jeremy and Ninja!!! Gotta find more of these guys FER SURE!!!
Hey Mike!! So glad you dig Dirty Loops!! They are AWESOME!!! If you haven't already checked it out, we have a Dirty Loops playlist ready for you to enjoy ;-) My (Jillian) fav so far is "Run Away". Have fun, friend! ru-vid.com/group/PLYrkTp-j9yalYwNZOlOjFUAS0UGsht7oB&si=aJR1tsmiASLIBbzF
@@musikbyjh Thank, Jillian…will definitely check it out! It’s funny…ever since I watched your video, my feed is FULL of Dirty Loops reaction and live videos…the algorithm gods are at work !! 😂😂
Sorry for this, it's a constant battle. We are forever working on the right balance, but found we absolutely will never be able to please everyone. Thanks for giving us a shot!

Why do you keep ruining your own experience by stopping all the time , so frutraiting . All credit to those who listen to music in its entirety and show respect to the art of work.
