Dave Longstreth's music had impacted me in a deep way. I went to see the band in SD and had a deeply personal conversation with him. I shared to him an intense external turmoil I was going through. He listened. It was a surreal moment. Pretty much saved me from doing something stupid. So thanks Dave. Much love.

This is incredible. A huge shift for him, still experimental but also SO of the times. 'Ol Dave's gone solo again and he's about to go next level.

At first I wasn't sure about this . The more I listen the more I love it and the more I can't stop listening to it. Seems so personal too.

Only David Longstreth could combine the influences of Missy Elliot, Kendrick, Joni Mitchell, Beethoven, Bob Dylan, and Bad Brains into something so visually striking, emotionally truthful and heartfelt but still so Dirty Projector-ish. That octave drop took part of my soul with it

Ive had this dirty projectors t shirt for 5 years that i bought from goodwill that just has a bunch of ancient characters and the name dirty projectors under it. All these years i just thought it was a joke saying that you cant read the words projected off a projector when its dirty. Like the words are so blurry that it looks like ancient characters. Today i finally wondered if it was a band and i googled them and here we are!

Amber's first solo just made this song even more powerful

Dude he almost goes rapping. That's awesome. I have to admit that I wasn't expecting this part; also the low pitched voice is new and somehow surprising.

The breakup with Amber really hit Dave hard eh...

It's a reflection of the incredible - and incredibly PERSONAL - songwriting, that even with all the embellishments, the hurt comes seeping through. If the subjects of the song had felt no love for each other, there would have been no point in doing this. And if he'd done a "regular" performance of this...somehow it wouldn't have been as potent as it is, if that makes any sense.

It took me exactly three listens to completely accept that pitched down voice.

I hate it when I know enough about a band to know who/what they are singing about. I wish I could experience this song purely as a song without thinking about the specific personalities involved.
