CASE UPDATE: JESSICA BORTLE SENTENCED TO 1 YEAR IN PRISON FOR HER DAUGHTER'S DEATH. lawandcrime.com/crime/mom-sentenced-to-1-year-in-prison-in-death-of-special-needs-daughter-who-died-after-her-liver-was-obliterated-by-blunt-force-trauma/ We've been getting a lot of ableist comments from people saying they don't want to see Jasmine's face at all because of how she looked, or that it "hurts the disabled community" because we are covering a case involving someone like Jasmine. If it wasn't painfully clear, this is how Jasmine looked all the time. A quick Google search will prove that. Just because you can't handle seeing what Jasmine looked like, or can't acknowledge that she existed, doesn't mean her story doesn't deserve to be told, especially when nobody else will tell her story. As you saw in the video, even her own obituary was only three sentences and said nothing about her. If you're offended by us covering the death of a disabled person because of how she looked, go watch another channel, we don't want you here. You're making someone else's tragedy about you. Also we've announced this many times over the past year, but for those who are new: We cannot show the faces of children in our videos, but we are allowed to show them in our thumbnails. This was told to me directly by a RU-vid employee. I understand that some other channels get away with it, especially those with corporate news backings, but this is what I was specifically told to do and I'm going to keep following RU-vid's rules whether I agree with them or not. I hope that eventually this will change. We are revamping our Discord community. If you'd like to hang out with us and a bunch of other cool supporters of the channel, please click here: discord.gg/kCCzjZM ❤ Drewby + Yergy

That verdict was disgraceful. Shame on that jury. The mother killed the child. It wasn’t an accident. She hit her with a table and purposely pushed on it for for a period of time. The child was disabled, sick and confined to a hospital bed. This wasn’t a quick smack on the butt. To destroy a liver it takes a massive blow. It may not have been first degree murder, but it wasn’t manslaughter or the BS she was found guilty of. This is not Justice for that poor little girl

@reinhardvonlohengramm6296 Actually that's not true in a legal sense. Infant, laws were actually passed in the 1990s to curb gang violence...that even if you had nothing to do with a crime that a few of your gang bang buddies committed...you were still culpable...being part of the gang. (Not that YOU personally are in a gang.) That grandmother was culpable. More and more women who "suspect" their husband's or boyfriends are abusing their children are being held accountable as they are just as culpable for not protecting their children. One doesn't actually get to observe criminal action, visited upon a minor, and close your eyes. That grandmother should have been charged!!

The fact that this was able to take place IN A HOSPITAL of all places is extremely concerning. Nobody saw or heard anything? No vital alarms went off? That's not even mentioning the parent and grandparent in this situation. Words cannot even begin to describe how horrendous and vile those two creatures are. Edit: I'm questioning the cause of that head injury too. Doubt it was a fall. They should review her entire medical history as I'm certain they will find a pattern of abuse.

I often think about how truly awful it must be to be completely reliant on other people. Even if those people are loving and kind. So I can't imagine how terrifying it must be when you're a child and the only people you have are your tormentors. I'm not sure if poor little Jasmine was mentally impaired as well as physically. But if she had no mental disabilities she most likely felt safer being in hospital. As I also find it hard to believe that this was a first... surely there was some history of abuse as I find it inconceivable a mother, no matter how stressed would take a table and literally crush their child to death all while the child lies in a hospital bed!

This case is just nauseating. I had a special needs daughter. I got into a car accident at 37weeks pregnant. My uterus ruptured and my placenta separated. No one listened to me complaining of stomach pain. Her disabilities were all from lack of oxygen at birth. She lived to be 3yrs old. I’m telling you it’s not easy to be a parent ( I was a single mom) of a special needs child. There was no day and I mean no day that I ever would have hurt her. Never. Do you get worn out yes. Is it hard? Yes. We love our kids but they don’t get invited to birthday parties or sleepovers. It’s hard to see your child struggling especially since someone else hurt her, I could never. I’m not saying she had any right to do that. That little girl couldn’t even defend herself. It says a lot about a person that would want to hurt their child that has special needs. Sad!

This kid was in hospital care and the mother could have easily just walked but but didn't because she was an ABUSIVE parent.

The Misery Machine, your detailed exploration of Jasmine Renee Singletary Bortle's tragic story is both heart-wrenching and incredibly well-presented. The complexities of family dynamics and the unimaginable actions of a mother towards her own child are topics that are difficult to comprehend. Your commitment to shedding light on these dark stories and advocating for the voiceless is truly commendable. Let's continue to work together in the true crime community to raise awareness and seek justice for victims like Jasmine. 🔍💔 #TrueCrimeCommunity #JusticeForTheVoiceless

I keep thinking about that poor girl, wanting to colour with her mum, and asking for her grandma as she died. To be fair, a lot of stories about children who are murdered only give very surface details about the victims (he liked trucks. He wanted to be a firefighter). Even teenage victims who were isolated enough beforehand get very surface value descriptions about them. For example, if they didn't go to public school and had no living siblings to recount what they were like.

I don't understand how CA gets a slap on the wrist. If any mother is capable of killing their own child, even more so a disabled child, think of the potential threat these people have against humanity as an entirety. Any mother or father capable of doing such horrendous things to their own children should get the death penalty. No questions asked. Children don't ask to be born and to get betrayed in that manner by the only people you look to, to care for and protect you is just unimaginable and unspeakably unforgivable.

The moderater turned off all the comments after all the backlash. Yes I understand burnout exists-hello my child is non verbal autistic and gtube fed and I've never even thought those things about him. I have a family member, who at 40, acts like they're 13. Due to them being diagnosed after 18, they have the right to refuse treatment and med professionals are legally not allowed to tell us anything. Even with this experience, I still won't trust institutions or gov dep, because they don't view patients as people, rather they view them as streams of revenue. Their goal isn't to make the patient better, rather to keep patients in a state of dependency as they become lifetime customers, which in turn becomes job security for those departments. Example, homeless advocacy groups, gov drug rehabilitation, prison systems, etc Education and family, in conjunction , are the only 2 that I've seen actually help the patients and the families of disabled children
