A disabled man says he is bamboozled with the new Universal Credit benefit - after receiving a payment of just 1p. Neil Wright, 50, who suffers from acute arthritis and can’t work, said he’s unable to fathom why his usual monthly UC payment of £284 turned into a bank deposit of just a penny. The nominal payment went in on December 14, 2018, and he’s not due another until January 14, 2019 - leaving him with less than a pound to buy food with. Neil, a former taxi driver of Plymouth, Devon, said: “I’ve got 25p in my pocket and about 52p in the bank.

The 1p is a loan and has to be paid back,meanwhile MP's get a massive pay rise,and claim expenses ie travelling, breakfasts,2nd home allowances and most probably never seen a council tax bill

I Hate to say this, But(there's that word again) The Tories will never consider the welfare of the poor, they are the party of the rich and well off, So its our(the electorate's) fault for voting in a party that is devoid of empathy and who couldn't care less about anyone who cant pay for private health care. They are also a party that breaks promises on an industrial scale, what do I mean by that? well one example is that 5yrs ago in their manifesto they promised to build 200'000 affordable homes so young people could get on the housing ladder, So how many did they build in that 5 yrs? well I will tell you ,its 0, zero, ziltch, nought and if you dont believe me look up Andrew Neils interview with I think it was the Tory housing minister. Universal credit needs to go, its cruel, its heartless and a disgrace that it was bought out in a so called advanced country like the United Kingdom.

I don't see how they can justify such a massive drop in money for the disabled etc, just by the DWP paying my rent allowance instead of the council I'm £325 per month worse off before I even get paid. It's like being a tramp but with a roof over your head. Don't even get me started on food or falling behind with my bills for the first time in my life. Doris and his Con-servatives need getting rid of before Universal Credit kills us all off. Worst thing is the media seem to be turning a blind eye to our suffering too.

How can it take so long to sort out and how do they still screw it up and MESS PEOPLE UP, roll this SHIT OUT and I hope the PEOPLE RISE UP and take to the STREETS where these TORY MPs LIVE.

I remember getting letters saying your payment is 0.00 so I put in a complaint saying that zero is not a payment. Maybe that's why you got a whole shiny oh so spendable penny.
