Disabling Fuel Cut-Off Without ECU Flash (K7 GSX-R1000)

How to disable the annoying fuel cut-off feature at 0% throttle while in motion (2007 & 2008 Suzuki GSX-R1000). There are only two ways to disable this feature, with an ECU flash, or by adjusting the TPS to read no lower than 2% throttle. If you adjust the TPS you would ignore the 0% throttle column of the fuel map in the Power Commander tuning.
NOTE: It is recommended that you do this modification BEFORE you start tuning your bike, as it will affect any existing tune.

your videos are so useful, by just watching 3-4 videos i learned way more than the past year of watching random videos. Thanks alot! I just got myself a 1000k8, and i still have my 600k6. Im from Europe nd alot of ppl dont mod the bikes like u guys in america. Really cool :)

This is brilliant, thanks for sharing this. All the ECU flashing, Booster Plugs and/or cable adjusting in the world won't cure a jerky throttle unless you address this fuel cut issue. Without a Power Commander, I think you could get it close just by trial and error but the PC really makes it easy. Now to see if I can apply this to my Honda NC700X.

Thank you for a good video, how will this work with the pcv map on the 0% and 2% throttle and will it work with the busa 08 ?
@lonelyryder7441
@lonelyryder7441 8 месяцев назад
Basically, the PCV won't use the 0% column anymore, just 2%-100%. It can throw your tune off a bit, so I recommend doing this first before you start tuning, or check the tune after you do it. I've never had a Busa so I can't be sure about that, it all depends if the ECU is programmed the same way or not.

hi, i assume that would work the same for the z1000? Did you loose any engine braking or decl popping after doing this? thanks.
@lonelyryder7441
@lonelyryder7441 11 месяцев назад
To my knowledge, the Z1000 is not programmed to cut off the fuel on decel, so it's not necessary on the Kawasaki. As far as the Suzuki, engine braking is still there, it's just not as dramatic. I didn't have any popping beforehand anyway, as my PAIR system is blocked.

Hey thanks for the Video. I have a k7 myself and want to buy an Powercommander 3 for it. Cant I just add fuel at 0% throttle Position with the pc3? Thanks from Germany✌🏼

No, I tried that also before I made this video, it doesn't work. The ECU just ignores the fuel table completely, I checked with my AFR gauge.

Ok Good. And when the ecu thinks tps is at 2% and I Programm the Powercommander in the 2% line richer I should get some grumble or pops right? Thanks for your work 👌🏼

hello! i see you reply to the comments, please help me with an advice! i have a tmax 530 2016 with all modification from malossi( 560 pistons,camshafts etc) somebody tune my ecu, but i don t have pops on exhaust, i want pops:D but this model has cut off fuel and it s not possible to disable it, it will help this "tps tune" for pops?
@lonelyryder7441
@lonelyryder7441 Месяц назад
That's strange because usually with a performance ECU flash things like a fuel cutoff at decel is removed. I wonder why they didn't do that? You could try a TPS tweak like in my video, but I don't know anything about the Yamaha TMax, so I don't really know if it will work or not.

Sorry man can't help you much there. The only other thing to try, if you have the ability to change the fuel map at all, is increase the fuel in the 0% throttle column.

Will this make the bike run on the richer side then the stock position? When moving it to 2% throttle.
@lonelyryder7441
@lonelyryder7441 Месяц назад
It threw the tune off a little on my bike, and I had to redo my fuel map some. It won't make it specifically rich only but will probably make some spots slightly leaner or richer throughout the rev range without a re-tune.

My sv650 2009 doesn’t decel pop because it cuts off the fuel completely while decelerating. So by this „mod“ my bike should decel pop right?
@lonelyryder7441
@lonelyryder7441 4 месяца назад
This mod will help, yes, but it's not JUST fuel that makes a pop, it's a combination of fuel and oxygen. People will often block off the PAIR system of bikes to prevent decel pop, because the extra air the PAIR system shoots into the headers causes popping. So you are going to want to make sure that the PAIR system on your bike is working along with this mod. That should give you a pretty good pop!
@hasbulla3167
@hasbulla3167 4 месяца назад
I opened the pair valves so it gets more air and later even opened the pair system so it’s constantly gets air. I set the tcp so the - on the display was up even without twisting the throttle but I still very rarely get a little quiet pop. Also I got a mivv without a cat and sometimes without the db eater. I think it’s more than just the throttle position, I mean decel pops are only possible if there unburnt fuel and only twisting the throttle 2% doesn’t give you unburnt fuel, but that just means my bike is doing what I should I guess. I think flashing the ecu would be the only way for me but thanks for your response!!
@lonelyryder7441
@lonelyryder7441 4 месяца назад
@@hasbulla3167 If you have a Power Commander, you can turn up the fuel to make it run a bit more rich, that would give you more unburnt fuel in the exhaust, that's about the only other option besides a flash.

when you say “put the bike in service mode” do you mean that you have to Jump those wires near the ecm to put it in service mode? Or did you just mean removing the seat etc so it’s ready to service?

Will this work if you don’t have a power commander
@lonelyryder7441
@lonelyryder7441 9 месяцев назад
Yes, but the PC software makes it easy to see the throttle percentage and voltage. You can still do it, but you will probably need to read the voltage from the TPS wires with a multimeter instead.
@alokhemani1954
@alokhemani1954 9 месяцев назад
What shall be the reading in Multimeter to be looked for?
@lonelyryder7441
@lonelyryder7441 9 месяцев назад
@alokhemani1954 It can vary slightly bike to bike, but mine is showing 1.2 volts at 2% throttle. Check what yours is reading at 0% throttle, then go a little higher than that. Make sure you are checking the TPS and NOT the sensor on the STV, they look very similar. I've never used a multimeter on a TPS myself so I'm not 100% sure, but I think the (+) red probe goes on the pink wire, the (-) black probe goes on the black wire, and the middle red wire you leave alone. Might want to do some googleing to make sure I'm right.
