It is a drain plug bolt for the exhaust just Incase inside get a lot of moisture/humidity built up and Incase who ever would be dumb enough to run it through some deep water as well not important part, but do put it back on it will reduce back flow quite a lot if you do not learned my lesson on my first Suzuki dirt bike when I was little
@ianloughney9570
@ianloughney9570 5 лет назад
Since two strokes burn oil the bolt is a drain plug for any unburnt oil that collects in your exhaust. Since the expansion chamber sits lower than the exhaust outlet you could feasibly have it be half full of oil and running like crap and with no drain plug youd just be up a creek.
@bens1502
@bens1502 5 лет назад
Yes I have one of these and getting the junk out of the exhaust is important, one of the first things I'd check if it was running bad, mainly cuz it's easy. Makes cleaning the thing waay easier. And its important for power in a 2 stroke.

That’s a drain for expansion Chamber. While your at it don’t forget to replace crankshaft seals they dry up and will burn crankcase oil.

When you're buying new bearings check out all balls bearings. Really good bearings. Hopefully you're gonna get the frame and parts to a sandblasting and powdercoating company. It's much more easier and also the paint is much more tuffer than spray paint.

just want to say that since the frame is free, its worth spraying loads of WD40 into its down tubes, shake it all around then blow it out with a compressed air, and even better drill 2-3mm holes at the very bottom where the water would sit. I bet its rotting from inside out, guaranteed!!
@pondartinc4002
@pondartinc4002 5 лет назад
That's fish oil. I would use motor oil unless you want all the neighborhood cats chasing you.
@isbemorph
@isbemorph 5 лет назад
@@pondartinc4002 , i'd use WD40 because its a water dispersant, and it would absorb any moisture from pitted rusty steel. I wouldn't use a motor oil or even a special wax spray coating which would only trap the water, not stopping the corrosion process.

Greetings from Australia. I'm loving your videos. I have a 1979 TS185 which I too am restoring so am absolutely loving your channel so keep u the great work. I have a question if anyone can please assist? I would like to run 12v for all the lights. I understand the CDI is 6v so I'll leave that as it can run the bike independently of the battery and other electrics. My question is though, how would I go about the rest changing to 12v? What do I need to change/implement? How would I wire up a RR into this bike?

I have another engine that is in a lot better shape that came extra with the bike and I'm going to use it. It is missing some parts so I don't know if it would be better to just pull the parts that I need off of the motor that came off the bike or to sell the complete motor and then buy the parts that I need for the clean motor online
@wastedintelligence9040
@wastedintelligence9040 5 лет назад
GoldGuy - If I were you I’d at least look inside each engine to make an observation. It’s all about the inside. These bikes were definitely built strong but I’d suggest inspecting the head and possibly replace the piston regardless of wear. If both engines ran and sat you have a piston that expanded when ran and shrank when cold. The rings get stuck, possibly moisture reached the needle bearing or rod, it’s a safety precaution I’d take with history.
