Very helpful thank you. My speedo and odometer have both stopped working on my Sunbeam S7 (with the speedo stuck at 40mph??). So I guess I’m going to have to strip it down to try and fix it...

Can these speedometers be recalibrated? Thanks

@Mike- I have seen a Smiths speedo 120mph with no trip meter or no made in England written in back cover. Mechanism inside is magnetic and looks correct. Wonder if Smiths did make such examples with no trip with a case with just that wheel emblem with no made in england etched. Any info would be gratefully appreciated

Was this working, I have the same speedo that has stopped working I have taken it apart come to the conclusion that the magnet has lost its pulling strence

what is oil name ? whose oil have use in speedometer pointer down

did you give it him back in bits like that too?

what causes the cup to spin? It is made of aluminum. is there any ferrous metal on the cup that causes it to spin?

That is the secret, getting it apart is easy , putting it back together is a bit more tricky...

I have a 50 year old ford truck speedometer that needs magnetized, do you do this through your shop?
