I’m 53, so stick shift cars and trucks were much more common when I learned to drive. My first 3 vehicles were stick. Great work as always!

What a sweet GTI… I can’t believe they painted the trim black… at least they seemed to have done a good job masking. The car I learned to drive in was a 1979 Diesel Volkswagen Dasher with a manual transmission, and I love a row your own Dub! I hope we get to see updates on this project… Are you going to put a new engine in it?

Amazing Job! Of Course guys, this car must be saved! This Golf needs to go back into his glory. Maybe re-building the project one day at time! It's a awesome, cool looking car. GTI’s are great cars and very fun to drive. I had a Mk6 GTI for many years, and now a Mk7.5 Golf R (both DSG). My R has a Unitronic Stage 1+ tune for 375bhp, so it’s a rocket 🏎️ 💨

Gotta love how a proper GTI drives. I've had a few VW's.. '85 Scirocco, '86 GTI, '95 Golf Sport, '95 GTI VR6 , and a '03 GLI VR6. Haven't driven a stick since I sold my '04 Audi S4 in 2015.. Will have to get an older fun car soon! Enjoy your content, keep it up!

Learned to drive a stick right off at the start of my driving, in a 1960 Beetle. This Golf definitely needs restoring, looks rust free, too. Great handling cars, reliable, quick, and easy on the gas and pocketbook.

Nice GTI. I'm a fan of the VW Golf and recently sold my 08 Rabbit to my younger daughter and her husband. Fun car with the 2.5 litre 5 cylinder and 5-speed man. German engineering is definitely different (Better?) than Japanese engineered cars in my opinion.

I learned how to drive in a 1956 Chevrolet 210 4 door Sedan with a column shifter and overdrive. My father let me drive around the neighborhood until I could use the clutch and the tree on the tree. I now have 2 cars with manuals, a 1994 Mercury Capri XR2 5 speed and a 1988 Mustang GT convertible with a 5 speed.

IN the UK a manual "stick" box is the norm although with modern vehicles the dual clutch auto is common. I have three "stick" vehicles and one DSG which is technically an automatic,

There were three colors in the 20th anniversary lineup - Black pearl, Jazz Blue and Imola Yellow. My guess is the white stitching came from the Black Pearl edition, and the gold stitching is original to the car.

Nice car, we love GTIs. Quick, great fuel economy and definitely worth restoring. Learned to drive on a manual transmission pre-WWII Nash we used as a farm utility vehicle. Enjoy your videos very much.

I kinda like the way golfs are, but I've never been a huge VW guy (mainly from the price of maintenance) Also, I've known how to drive manual since I was 15. Learned on my dad's '74 MG-B Roadster. I just recently bought my first car, a 2002 Honda Civic Si EP3 with a 5-speed close range transmission, and that thing is an absolute blast to drive.

It's worth it because these models win the prize, in Germany these vehicles are sought after and also in the USA the VW GTI know and special models there is always something! with engine and a little rework like the strips yellow again and the lights in front are the same as from the GT so the parts are cheap in the USA!

I started driving a stick shift on my aunt's ranch when I was about 14 around 1970. Still my favorite transmission. I would think you could buy a standard rebuilt GTI engine for a few thousand. Is the transaxle missing as well? It is in pretty nice shape otherwise.

I’ve liked Rabbit/Golf models ever since Giorgetto Guigiaro of Italdesign penned the first generation. I think it would be worth restoring but it would have to be a labor of love. You may not recoup your money.

Its a Special GTI only build for the States (4000 Pieces) and Canada (200 Pieces). So i would rebuild it. The original Rims for this GTI are also the Rims for the R32. The Engine is a 4-Banger with 1.8L and a Turbo producing 180 Horses. In Germany a GTI-Enthusiast would kill for that Car

I've only driven stick shifts, as when I was a kid my dad let me use his '65 Chevy truck to learn to drive. I took my driver's test in that truck, failed the first time, as I had to parallel park between 4 poles! My current car is a 2018 Mazda 3 stick shift.

In the UK we had the 25th anniversary in 2002/3 in silver, Red or black with chrome bbs wheels..1500 where made we had number 1232.

Interesting: In Germany the 20th anniversary GTI was based on the Golf III and the 25th anniversary GTI on the Golf IV. It was limkited to 3000 cars (1000 in deep-black, 1000 in tornado-red and 1000 in reflex-silver).

It reminds me a man from New Zealand, he restored a MK4 R32 by combining a scrapped Jetta with the alright part of R32's body. Final result: Jetta R32 Coupe.

I've had 3 Golfs (mk1, mk4, and a mk7). They last really well when taken care of, but unfortunately they usually get 'modified' to death and left for dead later. I sold my mk4 Golf (2001) with nearly 400K miles on it and it still looked great. Very durable cars. I say restore it! It would be awesome to get another nice looking mk4 GTI back on the road! Also, I've never owned an automatic vehicle. All of my cars have been manual. My current mk7 is a 6-speed TDI. Awesome car.
