Now why would ANYONE want just a "Normal" day? That would be boring... That engine still has some life in it, a definite KEEPER. Now how about an interview with Mr. Mr. Hewes on how it all happened. ;)
A Fastrac is a good tractor? Best thing to do is burn the bugger and get the insurance. A respray for the trailer and some new pipes and as always the Foden does it's stuff. Fair play though, who would believe it started at the end!
he did say that thing was on fire many times if im not mistaken. so much for a "good tractor" if thats true then it's pretty dumb to keep that fire hazard around, just waiting for something bad to happen
@@navaraboy3000 Seems he knew it was clear on the other side as his passenger was talking to the driver of the JCB at the time so not dangerous at all.
The JCB Loadall that identifies as a Foden, a manitou that identifies as a fire appliance, and a fast trac that identifies as a bonfire… Confused bunch of vehicles! Good to hear everyone was ok, and awesome to see Ted on the scene!
Relieved that nobody was hurt. In fairness, the fire was so well established by the time you got there, that firing a few BCF's at it would barely make a dent, especially in wind that strong. Well done to the firefighters for getting there as fast as they did. TOP job on the recovery & as for the "Will is start?", well we wouldn't expect anything less. End a crappy day on a high. Well done all.
Zero chance of hitting that fire with hand held gear. If a blaze is that big on a ignition source, give up, stay back and make sure it doesn't spread. You need fireman's equipment to push through.
Hats off to you English guys and your sterling sense of humour in that situation - "I reckon we ought to do a 'will it start' after this .... " - it's what got your grandparents through WWII. Cheers from rural NZ.
May have been a year ago but glad your dad is okay. I love Jack - swearing and opening the door while you are skidding to a halt. He is a brilliant friend!!!
This has to be the most epic "Will it start?" video ever posted on RU-vid! Unbelievable resilience. You'll have to name the tractor Lazarus if you decide to restore it.
@@leclerc3915 No, you're totally right. Anyone could have been walking around the place. Even the bloke in the car was saying "steady there could be someone the other side". Still, under pressure risky judgements are tricky to make I guess.
It was fairly engulfed when you arrived with the wind making it worse, those extinguishers were pointless at that point. It's hard to watch an asset melt in front of you. The main thing is that your dad wasn't harmed. Machines can be replaced, family can't. Here's a sub. 😊
Very interesting and well presented video of how things can so quickly go wrong but then how things can be put right with the combination of skilled men & machinery 👍Well done to everyone involved, sadly the loss of a tractor but more importantly no one got hurt or burned. This might make people appreciate the hard work of Farming & the Farmers themselves and not forgetting our emergency services. Thank you Gent's. 👍👍👍
Glad a sad event turned out OK for everyone and people saw the funnier side of it all. But damn guys you had the right equipment handy. That engine is a keeper .....
Joe the Most important thing is Dad's safe. Very sad loosing a good tractor though. Hats off to your friends and neighbours ?, rallying around to help. With telehandlers and tractors Firebrigade did their best for you. That Fodens worth it's weight in gold to you. Definitely didn't expect the ending though😂😂
That is what you get from vehicles made from wire and plastic. Proper old steel construction would not torch except few wires, casual adjustment wood block and loads of grease well as oil that has covered it over the years. Least its nice to see it didnt have anything bullshit that prevents engine turning, just needs mechanical injection pump and few bits to get it running if nothing else as generators engine. For anyone that had this happen, remove the injectors ASAP and pour some automatic trans oil inside the cylinders and valves to protect them from corrosion. This way it wont be rusted shut by the time you start looking if you should rescue it, same thing if its flooded, fill with diesel to bring everything you can. Outside can be sandblasted but the inside will corrode when exposed to air after water. Engines are not cheap so might as well, specially if its mechanical injector pump diesel, you just need power for starter to get it running.
I recently discovered your channel and have been binge-watching the old videos and finally got to this one which was a shocker. Thankfully everyone was safe and uninjured. Crazy that you got it running in the end 😲
Terribly sorry mates, hate to see someone loose equipment due to fire. Thank god everyone wasn’t harmed. Of course a big Thanks to the Leicestershire Fire Department, what would we do without our firemen.
That's always a hard pill to swallow. I worked on a farm when I was in school. I had a Combine catch fire during a corn harvest one fall, it was a TOTAL LOSS & set the field on fire, too.😢
Which is why you always drove them with the door open, because the dust could build up and just a hot bearing or even sometimes the sun would set it off. But the number of people I see doing stuff without masks even these days...
what i am watching is inspiring ... yes its gone tits up ,,, but after the fire no fooking about lets get this sorted and you guys have done it... i bow down to you with what you have done in a bad situation
As a fire fighter i wold not drive trough the smoke. The fire extinguishers might help a bit but the tires they cant really put out they are a pain to put out with a fire engine. And as a person that this might happen to i wold do the same as you did. My condolences for the loss of a nice tractor and i sure hope nobody was injured.
I worked at a sawmill a few years ago, we had a big Volvo log loader burst into flames out in the log yard one day. Driver got out ok but once the fire started there was no stopping it. We evacuated the mill and stood there and watched it burn, till the fire brigade turned up and put out the remnants. Apparently a hose burst and sprayed oil over the turbo, which run pretty hot from what I’ve heard.
Losing pieces of equipment is never a good thing, but seeing you having a good laugh while fire was still raging, telling me that money spent on insurance was money well spent. The "will it start" chapter was both astonishing and funny like cherry on the top of the icing.
That was nuts!! Saving grace was that it went up away from people and property. Imagine the carnage had it been on the farm.. Fair play for getting it all cleared away yourselves with your own kit! 👍👍
Definitely worth getting some big foam extinguishers. Those little CO2 ones are great on small electrical fires, but crap on anything with any real heat to it. You weren't putting it out though by the time it'd got going. The fire brigade took a while with a lot of water!
Absolutely gutting mate. Glad that everyone is ok though. That is the most important thing. Bit of baler twine round that pressure fitting will sort the oil leak out and she's better than new
Glad all were safe. I saw the smoke last week, and one of the Wigston fire crews coming back in afterwards. Anyone reading this: don’t even try to put a vehicle fire out with an extinguisher. Even a big 6kgs one only lasts seconds. Just get everyone out / away and keep upwind of the smoke so as not to inhale toxins.
Good example for proving, in most vehicles on fire, a fire extinguisher is not going to do a lot. It's better to run for safety and call emergency services. Cool to see that it started again after the fire.
Seeing how the fire affected different components was quite fascinating, my favorite was how, with the hood, the resin burnt out of the fiberglass, and left the glass behind. You could probably reuse that glass in something else.
I know its a bit late lads but there is a fire extinguisher company called FireXO and their one extinguisher can put out all types of fires. Also their largest one can put out a car fire when its fully engulfed. Something to consider as you're rural.
I don't know what's funnier, co2 fire extinguishers on a full in tractor fire, the fact that they can just haul off the husk with their own equipment or that they got the engine to run. Haha.
I'm not saying this because of this incident, but with all the engines and other things you work on you guys should invest and completely restore a working military fire truck to keep on hand!
Honestly, you do want green goddess there horrendous to drive, I remember back in early 2002/3 with the firefighter strike, I had just got back from my first tour of Afghanistan and drafted in to drive them bitches up north, every time I went around the corner it almost rolled because the baffles inside, if they were even present, did a shit job. Great crack being a part-time fireman It was a good laugh for a couple weeks but then got sent to illegally invade Iraq so the fun was over.
i remember going to a funeral a farmer's tractor started to burn he try to put it out and had a heart attack i was very small child i was not even able to walk or sit up let now i own my farm and have farmhands working for me now i told them just walk away from the burning equipment cheaper for me to buy new then to lost some one in trying to put the fire out or to save and other part of a other equipment that it was hooked up too
Had that boiled wrench stew at 9:00 ish myself. Not too tasty. Congrats on the successful start. Was already warm, anyway... Throw a couple of tampons in the oil leak points, some used tires at the corners, a shop coat over the valve cover revised air cooling aperture, and you'll be plowing next week! (Glad your Dad didn't get hurt - could have been a lot worse)
Iv never clicked on a video so fast. Glad everyone is okay. Too bad those extra extinguishers weren’t any major help, too far gone. Unfortunate this fire finally claimed the tractor but made good video content. Edit: if it’s leaking oil, it’s got oil.
That sucks man.. glad everyone is ok... sending positive vibes from Canada... also have you ever done a video regarding your farm.. Im interesting in seeing that
Getting that close to a fully engaged vehicle fire, armed only in with hand extinguishers and in street clothes... In a high wind? You guys are lucky no one was seriously injured. You saw what trouble the brigade had using a pumper. Bottles are as helpful as pissing on a blaze like that.
I had a car fire 30 years ago,I didint have fire insurance back then . I do now. Sorry for your loss . It took 20 minutes for the fire department to get to my car. The trailed hitch was the only thing left . They took it to the scrap yard.
Your videos are brilliant. I can't lie they've been a great help, I've just started a job I'm 100% under qualified for and yet using your videos I've developed an understanding of enough brake cleaner and determination you can start any vehicle from a Peugeot 207 to a tank. 😂
Rule of thumb, if the fire is bigger than a waste paper basket, don't even bother with an fire extinguisher. just call the Fire Service and stand well back, keep away from tyres in case they explode because they can kill you. The vehicle is insured and can be replaced, You cannot be replaced. I think you found out from this how hot a vehicle fire gets and just how much water it takes to put it out.
It's always a bad day equipment goes up in flames , but I wouldn't be surprised if the next purchase is a old Scania or ex military fire engine, especially with how much you guys love fire
The wife and I road bicycles through the Cotswold last summer, can’t believe how narrow your golf cart trails are…I mean main roads 😂. Absolutely beautiful countryside with wonderful pubs, dogs and people, cheers from Canada.
True to the name, they even burn faster than most other tractors. Least now there won't be as many plastic panels in the way to do the £10k major rear-end repair it would have needed shortly. :-) Unloading the bales was a bit of a waste of time. :-)
The bales even though soaked in water, could still have an area where combustion (big word for the day) could still happen?, pretty standard procedure to break the bales down to ensure the fire is out. Nice to see the Firemen stayed round to ensure everything was out. 💂♂️🪖⛑️🏴🇨🇦
As long as you guys are all ok that’s what matters. Foden saves the day again, not surprised it’s started. You guys could get virtually anything going.
you do realise there not allowed to drive in PPE? im sure they could waste valuable minutes waiting for the driver to get dressed if you like rather than get water on the fire in seconds
@@xpoors6641 "you do realise there not allowed to drive in PPE?" Absolute rubbish. Appropriate PPE MUST be worn at all times while on duty. Think you need to learn the regulations before giving incorrect comments.
Farmers, salt of the earth. How many skills did we see demonstrated i. that short clip. Firemen, recce mechs, salvage crew, vehicle mech, crane operator and many more. Nothing seemed to phaze them at all. Brilliant work by one and all. One question why did it catch fire in the first place?
Unfortunate day guys, I feel for you.Think you need to add a Dennis Sabre or Scania fire engine to the fleet, watching the godiva pumps put that fire out. If you get 1 and have any problems I’ve had a few years on them if you need help 👍🏼
Dude just to say you 3 in the truck had balls of steal sending it through that smoke and fire fast as hell and is it just me or did he just slam on that handbrake gotta say I feel bad your dad lost a JCB tractor they are very good company for there tractors hope he doing good at getting new one soon lad
Glad everyone was ok just incase people think it took long for the fire crew to arrive depending on where the fire is so Leicestershire fire and rescue crew that attend was wigston they have a wholetime appliance and a on call appliance this is the on call part so they are paged 📟 in from work or home they have to be at station within 4-5 mins then take another couple of mins to get all the kit and put it on then travel it also depends on what other things are going on in the county affecting the placement of fire engines covering but the crews did a good job putting it out
