I lived through this disaster. Just because I dont bitch about it all the time doesn't mean it wasnt bad. The insurance companies bailed on most people. The federal government showed up to "inspect" and left without fixing anything. Me and most people where I live can't afford to move to another place. We are still fixing our homes and streets almost a year after our town was destroyed. I did videos where I talked about this before but nobody gave a $h1t. The best thing I did was to invest in gadgets that made me self reliant. All the money paying insurance and property taxes didnt do anything for us. After a disaster happens the media jumps on the band wagon and everyone talks about it until its no longer getting them the clicks. Then they all forget about it. But us who lived through it are still dealing with the destruction and the financial burden. We are still dealing with power outtages. Initially after the hurricane destroyed our town while we waited for the help that never came we had no clean drinking water. We couldn't take a shower in 100 degree weather. All our food spoiled without fridges. In the end it's only because I invested in these solar gadgets that I was able to live reasonably well and was able to help all my neighbors with simple things like getting in touch with their families. Even being able to provide them fresh food that we could cook... and do something as simple as give them a hot shower while everyone else had to resort to washing with dirty pool water in a bucket. Don't judge me or assume you know why I am doing this video. I am being practical. You and others who just leave a judgmental comment on a youtube video didn't do a thing to help me. I hope others who haven't yet gone through what I have, can prepare them because things will only get worse before they get better. Hopefully my video might inspire others to do that. If you want to help me buy something using my affiliate links. If you can't afford it then steal it or bed for it. I don't care. But thinking everything will be okay if you just sit there and wait for the government to show up, will put you through such $h1t that you will very quickly learn what I meant when I said be more self sufficient.

Great to see this from you Tom. Long time subscriber. I think many of us in the content creator/filmmaking space have come to understand the importance of redundancy and preparedness in life, not just our careers as we’ve built our kits. My solar generator is such a relief, even though it’s just 1000wh currently. It’s great to see my theories about this preparation are confirmed through your experience. I hope you and the family are doing well.

You have no idea how helpful these little solar gadgets are when life breaks down during natural or man-made disasters like war. I hope you never have to experience it and use it but it's better to always be ready. I didn't complain about what happened to us because I'm not the one who likes to complain or look for pity... but trust me. It was bad what we experienced. Some of the worst things were long after the media moved on to their next story and most people outside forgot about us. Stay safe and ready for the worst but hope for the best! 🙏

Very constructive comment. I lived through a disaster and still living through it. I shared my experience. You don't like it then help provide constructive feedback with a solution instead of just negativity.

@@TomAntos Thanks for providing more context to better understand your situation and motivation. It is probably hard enough to keep up the creativity while struggling with basic survival. Keep up the good work and all the best for you and your family!

As much as I respect your work - using other people tragedy to promote/affiliate a product? There are limits & things you do not do to make money, no matter how big the pay.

I lived through this disaster and I am trying to help others. Watch the podcast on my other channel where i talk in detail what we went through. I didn't get paid to do this video. I did 3 similar videos like this before where I talked about how I dealt with natural disasters. I hope i can make some money through affiliate links because we are still paying for the repairs we did. I'm glad I did invest in all those little solar gadgets because it helped not just me and my family but after our town was destroyed and we waited for the government that never showed up to help us, I was able to help my neighbors get in touch with family. To take a shower. To get fresh food etc. I am one of those people who's home was damaged and I lived through a tragedy. How can you say I use others people tragedy? I am still living in the same town and we are still cleaning up and fixing our homes and streets almost a year later because the government did nothing for us. Now I see all these other disasters and I hear of people going through the same $hit as what I went through but if only they prepared like I did instead of relying on the government they would be in a much better situation. In a few weeks the media will move on to another story and most people will forget about this or that disaster but the people in those areas will not have to start to fix their homes and streets. It will take them years to get back to normal while for most this was just an evening news story they long have forgotten.

It was a disaster I lived through, and I'm glad Tom was prepared and was able to keep our family and our neighbors in good spirits. Even if he was able to provide a hot shower, some lights on at night during the time we were without power by using this solar system. I know for sure my parents and neighbors will never forget that.

@@TomAntos I didn't know you have a podcast, I've just watched this video and that's what I'm commenting on. I do feel sorry for all your loss, would be happy to help however I can if it wasn't a bit of a distance from Poland BUT from a viewer perspective - this video looked salesy. With a different approach/perspective, fine. It could be about what you've just mentioned. THIS video was screaming "See the tragedy? Need to buy this", sorry.
