What strikes me about these veteran directors like C.B. DeMille, John Ford, Ruben Mamoulian, Michael Curtiz and others is once the technology of Technicolor was available to them they didn't just use it, they USED it! They didn't just throw it in the camera and went to work, as you put it so well they created animated oil paintings and masterpieces at that! A whole new world opened up for these men and they made full use of it. Nowadays the color is just taken for granted. A big "So what?" There aren't and haven't been any films in the past several years I've wanted to spend money to see. An era's truly come and gone.
The special effects💛. I remember at 10 seeing the preview on tv and being even more in awe of God/His AMAZING wonder/blown away. Couldn’t wait to see the movie. My No. I favorite movie to this day. It made me want to draw even closer to God💛.
Because the director said, do it this way and say it that way and the writers wrote it the way the director thought best and inspired by God's Holy Spirit at that time when we all feared God, and now they hate God and love LGBTQ+ and sin. Good is evil and evil is good.
This was done long before CGI. And it still looks more impressive and real than CGI generated scenes. The hail catching fire was nothing short of phenomenal…..and this was done in 1956!
I get that the Pharaoh had reason to deny the river turning blood being God's work, but if I saw hailing fire, I would've just said "ALRIGHT. TAKE YOUR PEOPLE."
I think he knew that God existed and was the only God but the Pharaoh didn't wanna change his lifestyle. He would have to give everything up that he loved.
All the plagues in Egypt correspond with an Egyptian god so in the Bible it said God kept making Pharoah stubborn so he could keep performing signs and wonders to prove He is God.
WHATS MORE A PERSON SHOULD LOOK AT IS AS SOON AS MOSES Lowers HIS ARMS AND TURNS AROUND Without A SCORE IN SILENCE A Small GREY CLOUD ASCENDS SLIWLY FOLOWED BY A WHITE STORM CLOUD NO MUSIC THE SILENCE IS EIRY AND JUST , A BOOMBASTIC SCORE TO REVEAL THE HAIL WOULD HAVE SPOILED THE SCENE, pbu Charlton and Yul
Only problem with the movie is; the director forgot to read his history properly to know that this is not how Egyptians or africans looked then, guess he used cleopatra as a model for the characters.
@@jeffreyrediel you have such an evil heart. Why haven't the Egyptians and Africans recreated the movie to correct the so-called mistake you claim that was done in 1956? After all, there is technology, money, more population and the storyline to recreate the movie as of today. Appreciate the good work that has been done or go ahead and do your own.
One of our 6th grade field trips was to see this movie ,it was long but I loved it and whenever I came across it on the TV I could never not watch it. God was pointing my head in a certain direction I think.Thank you God
@lgempet2869 Lol even though this movie was made long before I was born, I'm 30, she gave me funny feelings when I saw this movie as a kid LOL. What a hottie! Especially in that see-through top LOL
Every year on the week of Good Friday , I am anticipated and looking forward to see the Ten Commencements on ABC. I love it and I feel great and at peace on the Holy Week. I won’t let anything bother me or hurts me for Gods is on my side and he protects me.
lent is a lie. Look it up in the new testament after Romans. what the Bible says about will power and denying of foods or traditions. That has nothing to do with Salvation because Jesus Christ already paid the price on the cross for our sins.
The courage and strength of Moses to return to what was once his homeland to free his people is utterly amazing and it really shows that With God the impossible becomes possible..
IMO, The greatest movie ever made with an all star cast. With special effects for the time this was made was spectacular. I don’t think something like this can be made at the price it would cost.
No matter how many ten commandments movie comes this will be my all time favorite it's so original ND spank amazing so pure that it feels like I am in that time while ten commandments happened
I like how Ramses mentions the eruption of Thera and believes it to be the actual cause of the plagues at first. It is a nice touch to see that a modern theory would be believed by someone back then.
Egypt had some of the best scientists and mathematicians of the ancient world. (Makes sense - as the wheat-supplier to the known world they were the wealthiest country and could afford to hire the best brains - "I hear that Greek guy is great at architecture - build a palace for him.")
No, he doesn't mention Thera. He speaks of, "A mountain beyond the cataracts, which spewed red mud, and poisoned the water." Cataracts are rapids or falls. He's talking about a landslide or something similar on the upper Nile, far south of Goshen or the Delta. Although some modern scholars do attribute the historical basis for Exodus to the Thera eruption, and I think that is very likely, that is not what Yul Brynner's line here means.
Doesn't explain water poured from the vase or blood that appears when Aaron touches the water the staff. It started at the waters edge in front of the temple.
I’m actually Muslim. I attended a catholic private school for middle school (6-8) as the middle schools around my house were not really safe. Even though our religions are different I realized my classmates and I classmates believed in so many of the same things and they treated me no different from them. I was the only Muslim girl in the whole school but they truly became my family and I became even more religious, even though I’m not Christian. I think it’s amazing that these people brought me closer to God even though I’m different. We watched this movie in my religion class and I loved it so much. Every part matched up with the stories in Islam from the Pharaoh to Moses parting the Red Sea and the bush and everything. I love this movie and may God bless you all 💚
@@user-gd2vh5vo6t like I said I don’t have any questions, nor am I searching for any answers. Please don’t speak for me I can speak for myself, Islam is what I believe in.
There's always something about the use of color from directors who previously worked in black and white. Like they know HOW to make it truly pop, you know?
THESE kind of old movies is what i was talking about when i've once told to my nephews and a centennial friend of mine that old movies were, are, and will always be the OG real deal!
It doesn't hold up for God's sake why are you lying? Did you see that blood spreading in the river like a bad photoshop edit (1:37)? That green screen is so terrible.
My second favorite movie of all-time!!! Legendary performances by all the great actors and may the all RIP. Thanks to Cecil B. DeMille for his vision!!! This movie, as well as it should, has stood the test of time!!!
Cecil DeMille has made one in 1927. This is his second, made in 1956 when he was 74. He put everything that he learned in his illustrious career into this one. It was his lifetime ambition that became his lifetime achievement. It is a masterpiece in every department. Script was a beauty ("Speak my son"); editing was unbeatable; music was excellent. Most importantly, the acting of Yul Brynner, Edward Robinson, Anne Baxter, Yvonne De Carlo and Cedric Hardwicke (as Pharaoh Seti) trumpets all. The best movie ever made.
I love this amazing film I appreciate this movie is free I only wish it was full version I know they had to omitted scenes, this movie is over 3hr.long so I do understand I'm not complaining I thank you for this 😊 Apostle Dr Matthews
Thank you for paying homage to this biblical classic. I understand that this movie isn't historically accurrate, but it has brought awareness to the biblical scriptures in which our fellow theologians pride are very being upon.
Hey, Charlton Heston's voice made perfect as a Jack-of-All Trades. He was a French bishop in The Three Musketeers, a Hebrew prophet here, an English knight in The Warlord, etc.
Hey STEVE P so your the one who has my name.... And I think we share the same thoughts cause that's exactly what I was about to post.... STUNNED!!!! AND YOUR ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!!!...LOL
And still even unto THIS DAY, the evil ones are stiff neck. REPENT! The KINGDOM OF THE ONE AND ONLY TRUE TRUE GOD✝️, IS AT HAND. Tell everyone! HE'S ✝️ coming. Let the people go world. Ask the PRECIOUS FATHER ✝️ to regulate our minds so we ALL may see that which HE✝️ would have us see during these strange times. Let us govern ourselves accordingly. Please Repent TODAY. In YESHUAH'S ✝️ HOLY NAME, AMEIN
My mom took me to see this movie when I was 9, at the Alhambra Theater which was replaced by a grocery store in Sacramento Ca. It was a very beautiful theater which have become absolute. So sad. This movie was well made,
Nefertiri was always trying to gas Ramses up. He never lied about her having a serpents tongue. “Bring back your sword with his blood upon it.” Ramses: “I shall, to mingle with your own.”
He Still Didn't Believe Even After FIRE🔥Rained From The Sky 🤔 How Many People Aren't Going To BELIEVE When JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD AND SAVIOR Come Down To Earth🌎 From The SKY 🙏
Pharaoh: Your people are slaves to mine. What are you going to do about it? Moses: Aaron, if you would be so kind? Aaron: I'm on it. *Puts staff in the water.* Lord, if you please? God: Already done. *Bleeds the Nile.*
What I did not realize when I watched this so many times...is that each of God's plagues was an act against each of Egypt's gods. Fantastic movie and phenomenal special effects for 1956! SO many good actors and actresses. And whoever mentioned the musical score, yes, it is a masterpiece. In Exodus 10:21, we read the plague of darkness was darkness that can be felt. That is really intriguing.
