DISC Brakes BABY!!!!! YESSSSSSS, running Airkewld "Bad Brakes" wide 5 on the front right now with the stock drums on the rear. Love the difference the disc makes.

Hi Duckman, Couldn't agree more. I'm not into original when you can have a bolt on safety improvement. The only time it would matter is if your showing a car and it needed to be concourse. Ashlin is a hottie for sure. Rides a bike, massive bonus, don't know about the sneakers though, Id prefer proper road riding boots. I have a dodgey looking left leg to prove it.

The first breaks I ever worked on was drums. I was 16 and didn't have a clue. I didn't know you needed to bleed the brakes and couldn't understand why the new brakes didn't work. If they were disc you can change the pads and not have to bleed them. But back in 67 didn't have a choice on a 61 Plymouth Belvedere

I do disc brakes on the front and drum on the rear. I have them this way on my ghia and my bus. They stop alot better this way

Well, I only have rear brakes. Yup. No front brakes. Oh, I forgot to say, it is my 67 trike. I did have to replace the master cylinder. It was a 3/4 " and i didn't have enough pressure for a good stop. Replaces with wilwood 5/8". What a world of difference. I believe they are the empi conversion. I got them that way. Funny how a smaller master cylinder will increase the pressure... hydraulics are strange. I’ve been trying to tell people that my little Beetle master cylinder should work just fine for my 944 brakes, people are still having problems believing that. I guess we’ll see haha

@@vvtheduckvv They will work just fine. I couldn't figure it out until I put the question out there in the trike community. I got the answer quickly. I should have known. I took a hydraulics class about 37 years ago. The smaller master slams the pressure to the bigger pistons. I just use a residual pressure valve in line. I came across that bent up acrewdriver/scraper that my instructor modified for me. I'll send you a pic. Keep on ducking! Jim

That is pretty much what the stock OEM parts are. I’ve run them the only thing that changes the price from there is new or drop spindles or caliper mounting brackets if you need them.

I am still collecting the rest of the goodies to rebuild the whole front end of mellow yellow brakes ball joints tie rod ends everything. Also going to install 2 inch drop spindles. Do you have a brand that you like more than others? And what might it be? Thanks Glen.

I dunno, when it comes to drop spindles they all seem to look like the CB Performance castings. I don't know if they are copies or what anymore. Tough to say. But they've all been good to me.

Hi Duckman, do the empi disc brake kit front and rear spacing widen (or narrow) the footprint? Im getting a 2in narrowed beam in case , just curious..

You'd have to check the rear,. sometimes they do widen, but not enough to notice. Up front they should not widen at all, UNLESS you install drop spindles, too. Hope that helps!

I have found out alot want to know what brake pads ( car manufacturer)are used when doing the swap. Most think it's sole proprietary pads and are hard to find at the local AutoZone.

Depends on the “swap” as I defined it in the video. I know my Eleanore uses 1986 944 turbo pads.

The majority of the parts came from any auto supply warehouse... bearings, lugnuts, pads and rotors. The specific OEM parts I found on ebay or traded with other folks locally. I hope that helps!

Hello Duckman, I have 68 vw bug with oem front disc setup and rear drums. I would like to do similar build to your eleanor (brakewise) cause I would like to build supercharged engine and stopping power will be important. Problem is that my bug is on swingaxle and like it stance. Do you know that 944 porsche setup would fit on mine? Also a big fan of your front conversion but I doubt that I would fine such specialist in my country (Poland in Europe) Any advices? I checked also willwood setups but its hard to find such kit's on my market. By the way, Love your chanel and your builds :) Shame we cant meet and exchange our experience. :)

Thanks so much for the questions! Anything will fit if you make it fit! If you are limited to swing axle only you can use the earlier 924 disc setup, that will fit without having to change much else other than the brakes.

@@vvtheduckvv Thanks for quick answer. I can fit many things on bug. Lack of any mill devices gives me many problems on my build and there isnt much aftermarket support on my market. Its my second build of the same vehicle. I got 1.5l homemade dual carb setup with progresive dual carburators on a singleported heads. After many miles it pulled out threads on head pins. So time o upgrade :) You gave me many great ideas to fit into my build :)
