I have 2 or 3 ISDT products, and have been very pleased with them. This discharger seems good as well, although, I think the LED indicators could be brighter. I think it would be nice to have a balance plug input as well, but your comments on that are valid. This would be a better option than my "kluge discharger", which is made up of some 200W power resistors and jumper wires. Thanks for the look. Cheers!

Amazing device i use it daily! living in Colorado the weather can change very quickly winter and spring ...so some days going out to fly things change and i can go home early discharge my batts and saves the life of them and longevity ....highly recommend it...

I've had one of these for a few weeks and am very pleased with it. Each lipo goes to 3.80V/cell which rises to 3.84v/cell after disconnection. By happy fluke, my iChargers charge up to 3.84V/cell for storage so I end up with a load of lipos that I can parallel charge later. Only complaint is the noise so I tend to put it outside till I hear it beep to say it's finished.

So true about flying with friends however no matter how I try there seams there is not any flyers local to me, most are 45-1:30min away. I have had one of these ISDT FD-100 for a good year now and find this is very useful. I carry 16> batterys and sometimes need to discharge due to not using one or two batterys or a damaged Quad that wont fly. I normally keep the full batterys one of two days bit if the weather is against you then having full batterys for longer could upset the batterys chemistry. The ISDT FD-100 is efficient at discharging but the fan dose kick up a noise as it cools the internals. It wont balance the cells but if you balance charge your batterys your cells should be balanced already. One of flyers I know has one of these as he uses a large Lipo to charge other lipos when flying, after he uses this to discharge the big lipo to store. This is well worth having in your bag

AOC Cellmeter 8 with 150W halogen bulbs is second to none. Cheap, fast and quiet discharge and you get a decent lipo and servo checker on top. I do have the iSDT FD-100 and the only time I use it is when... well never, frankly.

second to non.. till the bulb blows or burns a hole in something. just my opinion
@Gosuminer
@Gosuminer 5 лет назад
@@AndyRCchannel Yes, you do need to put the bulbs in a safe place while discharging. I usually plug in a parallel board, put the lipos on a table outside and let the bulbs dangle over the edge. I have discharged around 100 lipos so far and if a bulb should blow they are dirt cheap to replace. I agree the iSDT discharger is safer but the noise it makes doesn't make my wife happy.

I love mine and don't know how I did it before I use it in conjunction with my JB parallel board to bring down my packs and its worked out grate so far I also picked up the isdt cell checker and it's a God send on its own! I also bit the bullet and ordered the isdt t8 with a 24v power supply as a bundle package from heli-nation as a plug and play for the bench and that thing is a beast! Absulty recomend the isdt brand they have met and in most cases surpassed all my expectations! Thanks for the review and I hope to see many more from the isdt family... 🥃Cheers🍻

The specs of the FD-100 say that the max power is 80 Watts. If you have a 4 cell battery (16.8 V), then the maximum current it can draw is 80/16.8 = 4.8 A. At over 5 A the device is indeed overperforming.
@MxJavice
@MxJavice 5 лет назад
Just to clarify on the higher end chargers that advertise they can discharge at 30+ amps. They can....but not without building a an external load setup which takes a lot of space and more money. My icharger 306b will discharge at 80w or around 3.6 amps internally with no extra things needed.

I use a Hyperion Duo 3 Store charges very quick Excellent charger !!
@cms108
@cms108 5 лет назад
This discharger is rated at about 80W, which is why it can only discharge a fully charged 4S pack at about 4.8A (80/16.8). That's also why, as the battery voltage drops to about 15.2 volts near the end of the discharge process, the current increases to about 5.3A (80/15.2). If you were to discharge a 2 or 3 cell pack, you'd get the full 6 amps out of it. If you plugged an 8S pack into it, you'd only get about 2 amps discharge current out of it.
@AndyRCchannel
@AndyRCchannel 5 лет назад
Thanks for the input Chris but that's not the case. It did the same with 3s It's actually down to the capacity. I discharged a 10a lipo on it and it did eventually get to 6a it's because the power ramps up the lipo has reached storage voltage before it can reach 6a but I can confirm it can get to 6a. Cheers
@cms108
@cms108 5 лет назад
@@AndyRCchannel I'd be very surprised if this is the case, ISDT's own product description and specifications describe this as an 80W discharger. To discharge a 4S pack at 6A would require the charger to be able to dissipate at least 90W, even for a pack that's already nearing storage charge. The capacity should make no difference, if you get a 2Ah 3S pack or a 100Ah 3S pack, it'll be able to discharge either of those at 6A. If you discharge even a small 1Ah or a large 10Ah 4S, the most you should ever get is about 5.3A. If you get more than that, then either ISDT is deliberately under selling their product, or yours is broken - and a fire hazard. I'm assuming the 10Ah pack you tried was a 3S, I'd encourage you to try again with the largest capacity 4S you can find... maybe plug 6 1300mAh packs into a balance board to make a 7.8Ah battery. Similarly, if you do the same thing with 6S packs, you shouldn't ever get more than 3.5A.
@AndyRCchannel
@AndyRCchannel 5 лет назад
You should know by now that the specs are never correctly listed or rated with these products :-) no the 10a is a 4s for field charging. Either way it's a super product. Charged 15 lipos yesterday but only got to fly one pack. All storage charged within a couple of hours
@cms108
@cms108 5 лет назад
@@AndyRCchannel That is quite surprising, although as you say the specs aren't always 100% accurate on these kind of things - and at 4S you're not exceeding the 80W limit by that much to get to 6 amps. It'd be interesting to see what it eventually maxes out at on higher voltage 5 and 6s packs if you ever get chance to test it. As you say, it's useful either way, discharging that many packs on my charger would take me all day.

As far as I can tell, leaving lipos fully charged for couple days would not damege them as much as community use to say. Im really into different chemistries of batteries, i have tried used, powered charged discharged and measured different batteries for different purposes and devices believe me or not. Id rather say to discharge lipos for safety concerns, as You said, this is quite bit energy acumulated in these, and one does not want to free that energy indoors :) Of course i do agree that lipos that are fully charged degrades overtime but not as much as thay say. Research says that in numbers is like 1-2% capacity loss in storage charge and room temp in 1 year, and up to 4% fully charged in room temp(1 year also). Temperature is very high factor when it comes to bateries degrading. Cheers!
@sklepa
@sklepa 5 лет назад
More to say, you would keep good performance for longer discharging lipof for example to 3,65V and charging to 4,15, rather than remembering to discharge them if they are fully charged. Batteries charged lets say 30-80% capacity mark wold have 2000-4000 cycles instead of like 300 using full capacity, satellites batteries works that way for example. here is a lot of interesting info: batteryuniversity.com/
@robertp7209

Thought I read somewhere for fully charged lipo to be no more than one week. I had a pair of hard-case 5000 mahr 2s 2p batts for my monster truck left them unknowingly fully charged for more than month. Both were swollen big time. You can rock them back and forth on a flat surface.
@sklepa
@sklepa 5 лет назад
@@robertp7209 Batteries usually get swollen because they were overdischarged, and during next charge they tend to make gases. I got a couple dozens of usual tablet lipo batteries and they are laying in different storage voltages, and as far as they dont cross certain voltages there is no visible or measurable harm to them over the time(I got them for about 5 years - still usable). As far as i know, (making it simple) the main difference between common lipos used in cellphones or other electronics, and high discharge drone lipos, is thickness of the copper layers, note that high discharge, and same capacity batteries are heavier than lower C ones.

Had that since it came out. Use is great but it still takes 15 min to discharge a 4s and if you have a bunch is a pain in the neck. Just seen another product that will discharge one at the time via a small lightbulb (5us I think) this would be a plug and forget though. You can snap one on on the fully charged lipo and by the next day they're at storage charge. While the initial outlay will be larger I think I'll be more likely to consistently discharge batteries rather than having them charged for a week at the time....here is the product! www.unmannedtechshop.co.uk/product/lipo-suction-battery-discharger-xt30-xt60/?attribute_pa_size=6s-xt60&gclid=CjwKCAjwlPTmBRBoEiwAHqpvhdkqLdEzd9CYSoQ7W3QD55eUF2shcPTsADCbzaDyuFQrNhK7n6mpkxoC7q4QAvD_BwE

Never discharge a 3S!!! - I have 4 of these Dischargers and 3 died by discharging a 3S.... So don't buy it on Bangood, you won't get a new one on warranty!

Discharging 3s fine here. You sure it's not the lipo brand?

And then a 60w 12v bulb does the same in shorter time... Add a snubber network and an Relais if you want an auto cutoff... Yes im a cheapskate :D

This is the most worthless piece of FPV garbage I have ever bought. Quite simply, mine doesn't do what it's suppose to do. You plug it into the lipo batteries you want to discharge, set the cell count (4s / 6s in my case), and it either beeps with a green light for 10 times and shuts down and does nothing, or it displays a red light if you get the cell count wrong and does nothing and shuts down. It's a total piece of crap. If I were anywhere near the ISDT headquarters, I'd throw this worhtless brick through their window. It has never worked ever for me from day 1. Avoid. This is one where Bardwell got it completely wrong.
